Wide gate to Wade Cave discovered to be missing.

A wide iron gate covering the top of Wade Cave has gone missing. Clues or whereabouts as to where this iron gate that covered this cave has not been publicly announced by City of Austin officials. Neighbors have not been able to offer any tips to police or city officials.

There was an iron gate was installed at the top entrance and the bottom entrance of Wade Cave in an attempt to prevent vandalism, injury, and to preserve natural wildlife. This iron gate covered an entrance that is 7 feet to 10 feet deep which is a safety hazard if anyone were to fall down that entrance.

The iron gate to Wade Cave has been stolen at least three times in the past. The City of Austin had installed a double gate around the cave entrance after the lock had been broken off. Officials say the iron gate has stolen at least 4 different times. The City of Austin is attempting to maintain the cave and natural wildlife in the cave preserve.

City officials still have no clue as to how the iron gate was removed and stolen. It is 2020 and there is no gate covering this wide entrance. However the City of Austin has decided to leave the entrance cave entrance alone by doing nothing and reinstalling an iron gate at the bottom entrance. There is still no iron gate covering the top entrance of Wade Cave. City of Austin officials do not seem to be concerned about installing another iron to the entrance.
