History of the A & E Farms in Galveston, Texas explained.

A & E Farms is one of the forgotten farms of Galveston, Texas. This news article will explain the history behind this farm that sits on a hill at The West end of Galveston Island.


Vivian A Cotter, Vincent A Godinich, along with Mark A Godinich and Robert R Godinich, purchased land for a farm from John B Cotter on the date of 4/26/1984 on a conversion deed. 1990 is the year a farm would begin farming operations and agricultural activities on this property. Mark A Godinich, Robert R Godinich, Vivian A Cotter, Vivian A Godinich, and Vincent Godinich would have A & E Farms incorporated on the date of March 28, 1990. Here A & E Farms operated from 1990 to 1995. Robert R Godinich and Mark A Godinich were the agents for A & E Farms. The single family homes up on the top of the hill were used for equipment storage. A & E Farms operated under a multitude of names such as A & E FARMS INC, A & P FARMS INC, A & W FARMS INC, and E & R FARMS INC.

According to data from Galveston County Deeds, Vivian A Cotter had the land willed to John B Cotter Jr and to her daughter Vivian A Godinich on a probated will on the date of 11/11/1994. (Ref: https://propaccess.trueautomation.com/clientdb/Property.aspx?cid=81&prop_id=115344)



A & E Farms dissolved on the date of December 13, 1995. Mark A Godinich, Vivian A Cotter Godinich, and Vincent Godinich were the ones who had shut down the farm. (Ref: https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_tx/0114807000)






Vivian A Cotter passed away on the date of August 16, 1997 at Turner Geriatric Center from aging. She was survived by her daughter Vivian A Godinich who be deed the land and property of 9827 Stewart Road, Galveston, Texas, US in a few years. She was survived by her daughter Vivian Godinich and husband Vincent three sons John Cotter Jr and wife Charlotte Wayne Cotter Glen Cotter. Vincent Godinich had their property willed on a probate will to his wife Vivian A Godinich on the date of 1/23/2001. She claimed 100% full ownership of their property that year. (Ref: Galveston County Deeds, Instrument #2005017224)


The property would sit vacant and abandoned for a number of years because Vivian A Godinich was looking for the right buyer to convey the land to. Her relatives would use the single family homes and garage to store motor boats and automobiles. They mostly used the property for motor boat storage. This included the off-street detached garage.

The former A & E Farms property that was purchased by GFM and Restoration Ministries Galveston on the date of July 23, 2020. What were once single family homes is now home to a church.
