Pflugerville First United Methodist Church purchased the Pflugerville cotton gin from Milton Cockrum and Otto C. Pfluger in 2012. The idea for Pflugerville First United Methodist Church to purchase this land property was an attempt to historically preserve the Pflugerville Gin Company cotton gin.
Over the years this cotton gin has been vandalized and graffitied on as the building has sat vacant and unused. Several window panels are missing. Glass has been punched out. The Pflugerville cotton gin has been a well known graffiti hotspot for many artists.
Pflugerville First United Methodist Churchas painted over spots where graffiti was sprayed on in a cleanup attempt with the help of volunteers. Some of the railroad tracks that once connected to this cotton gin were removed in 2019. The last remnants of the former Pflugerville Gin Company are now owned by Pflugerville First United Methodist Church. Pflugerville First United Methodist Church still owns this cotton gin today.
Pflugerville Gin Company cotton gin provided and produced cotton for Pflugerville Gin Company, Pflugerville Cotton Seed Oil Co, and Pflugerville Co-op Gin which in turn grew cotton for the community and city/town of Pflugerville during the early 20th century.
