A man named Samuel Kelly purchased a .65 acre lot of land for a grocery store around 1917. He operated a grocery story that was located at 765 Harriet Street in the Oak Park neighborhood of Flint, Michigan for many years. Abraham Boasley was the clerk responsible for overseeing the operation and management. Sarah Kelley operated machinery for their grocery store. Samuel Kelly was the owner. Samuel Kelly sold the .65 acre lot of land to Farid Nassar and Khader Nassar on a general warranty deed around 1978. A new street market and grocery store called Harriet Street Market began operating at this location in 1979. Farid Nassar and Khader Nassar were the owners and operators of Harriet Street Market. Farid Nassar operated Harriet Street Market until his death in 1985. Khader Nassar claimed his role of ownership of Harriet Street Market in 1986 after Farid Nassar passed away. Now Harriet Street Market would close in early October 1991. Their street market had been operating for nearly 12 years. A George's Big C store branch operated at this location and out of this building from 1980 to 1985. This George's Big C branch had relocated and moved to another location in Flint in the year of 1985. Farid Nassar and Khader Nassar were the operators of this George's Big C branch. The “urban renewal” of the Oak Park neighborhood enacted by the City of Flint is what led to the decline of Harriet Street Market. The City of Flint purchased the lot Harriet Street Market was located on around 1992. This lead to the beginning to the wheels of decline for Harriet Street Market. The building was used by Buick Engineering and General Motors for a period of time. General Motors purchased their parking lot in 1992.

Harriet Street Market was demolished around 2006. Lear Corporation, a warehouse, and a power substation were built over where Harriet Street Market and George's Big C were once located. No trace of Harriet Street Market can be found today.
