What was Wayne’s Coin Shop? A Flint oddity explored.

Wayne’s Coin Shop was a coin shop located on the Southwest side of Flint near Swartz Creek in a vibrant yellow colored single story house near an intersection.

Wayne’s Coin Shop was built in 1924 as a single story residential bungalow on a 0.33 acre size lot which is actually on on 3 city lots. Laminate floor covering was used for flooring. There is no basement. The extra 2 car garage is a detached garage. Wayne’s Coin Shop was originally a single family home which was later converted into a coin shop during the mid-20th century. Wayne’s Coin Shop operated from 1954 to 1964. This bungalow later served as White Lawnmower Shop from 1959 to 1967. White Lawnmower Shop was also known as White’s Lawnmower Shop. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/search/#query=%223522+HOGARTH%22)




The bungalow which served as headquarters for Wayne’s Coin Shop was sold twice in 2006. According to record data from zillow.com, this bungalow was sold for $50,000 dollars on the date of 2/27/2006 and was sold again for $25,000 dollars on the date of 10/27/2006, -50% percent less than the price earlier that year. Brent T. Williams and Osmani C. Roque currently own the bungalow which once served as Wayne’s Coin Shop. The house has been put into what is called the Brent T. Williams Rev Trust.
