Huebner Road Cave is one of San Antonio’s forgotten caves. Huebner Road Cave is one of the estimated 500 caves in San Antonio, Texas. Not much information is known about this particular cave. This news article will explain what Huebner Road Cave is.
The entrance to Huebner Road Cave is 2 x 2 feet in diameter and is located at the bottom of a stream bed. There is a 5 foot drop to the floor which transcends into a 20 foot long passageway which by then leads into a big pit. The pit is decorated with various rock formations. The passage leading to another pit room is filled with water and soon becomes a siphon. The entire cave is wet and is filled with cave crickets. Although Huebner Road Cave has a 20 foot long passageway, Huebner Road Cave goes horizontally while then drops into a 75 foot pit where bad air can be encountered. A lack of oxygen and very poor air circulation are the reasons why this cave has bad air. Decaying seems to have used up most of the oxygen. Huebner Road Cave was rediscovered on the date of July 25, 1971. Roger McMillon and Wayne Russell rediscovered Huebner Road Cave what was then the turned out to be the long lost thanks to assistance from a child.
