“The City Council has also scheduled two public hearings to consider appeals from the city’s board of survey. The city’s board decides what to do with structures that the building official has determined don’t meet safety standards or which owners have refused or failed to remove or repair. The first appeal involves a property at 316 Amburgey Ave. that building inspectors found open and in disrepair. Pictures date stamped from March and April show insulation missing from the ceiling of the wood building, broken windows and pieces of a fence resting on the building. The board ordered owner Rosa Gonzalez to remove the rear building and clear the lot of debris in April. Initially agreeing, Gonzalez appealed on May 23, stating that while the property needs attention, it now is boarded up and doesn’t require removal. Pictures date stamped June 9 shows wood across doors and windows.”
