Mixerr Album Reviews #2,467

Take delved back into his electronic roots the 2010 album Only Mountain. You can hear ethereal synths all over the place. Not to mention drum breaks, sampling, ultra-loud synths, and misty pads. He uses textures rather than central melodies here. Take ‎– Only Mountain is an experimental electronic instrumental album you do not want miss out on listening to. The album is worth the purchase. The album is one the most overlooked electronic albums of 2010.

Crystallia is an electronic track powered by heavy bass and ethereal synths backed by an awesome Vangelis sample. The sampled he used was Vangelis - Spiral hence the “spiral transform”. One can easily tell Take was inspired by the music of Vangelis when producing and recording this track.

The way Take incorporated the drum break was outstanding and phenomenal. Take used a drum break. What he did was incorporate a drum break into his beat despite just only being a snare and kick. So the drum break he used was a snare. The drum sampling is one point here. These beats are etherial beats.

Neon Beams uses an array of synths, pads, and heavy bass over epic futuristic beats. The shakers are a nice touch. Those chords are thick too. You can hear those laser gun synths and blips over the several layers of instrumentation. Neon Beams was shared as a free download on Alpha Pup's website in 2010.

A touch of soul and funk is used. The 0:32 mark is where the instrumentation starts to get lovely. Those epic futuristic beats start going hard at the 1:59 mark. You can hear those laser gun synths, plucks, and blips over the several layers of instrumentation at 3:03.

Begin End Begin is similar to a dubstep song due to the bass and EDM elements used. That is why almost anyone could easily mistake Begin End Begin as a dubstep song. This song was way ahead of its time for 2010. This song predicted the future as electronic music would soon follow the trends of dubstep and EDM only a few years later.

Incredibright uses a smooth but piano sample played in 2|4 time signature over ultra-loud drums, synths, and ultra heavy bass. This song will surely leave an everlasting impact on your mind. A bit of glitch music used.

Horizontal Figuration uses misty pads, ethereal beats, and loud angelic synths. Beautiful music and wonderful sounds are what you can expect to hear on this album. The song uses fluttering trippy drum patterns over an 11|4 time signature.

Quartz for Amber is a smooth experimental electronic song which uses such misty pads over ultra-loud and thick synths. Those chords are thick tho. This song is played in G Minor over a tempo of 104 BPM.

Paper Gardens is another song that could be easily mistaken as a dubstep song. That is due to the bass, pads, and EDM elements used.  This song was way ahead of its time for 2010. This song predicted the future as electronic music would soon follow the trends of dubstep and EDM only a few years later.

If We Don't All Go Insane is an example of how good electronic music was in the 2010s. The production style he was used was brilliant.

Implosions is such an amazing song. Take produced and recorded an amazing experimental electronic song.
His work on this song is really outstanding and amazing. You can tell he really put in a lot of work with this song due to the thickness and density of those misty pads. Not to mention the numbers of synths he used.

I rate this album 4/5****!
