Mixerr Album Reviews #2,470

Take - The Dirty Decibels Of Thomas Two Thousand is an abstract hip hop instrumental album ridden with broken down beats and bass music. Take undoubtedly leaned more towards the hip hop sound on this EP of his. One could call this an experimental EP.

Fall in Love Again is Take’s instrumental rendition of J Dilla - Fall in Love Again. One could call this rendition a cover song of J Dilla - Fall in Love Again too. The instrumentation and sound are simply beautiful. The song has that old school hip hop sound and vibe. The song even sampled those J Dilla drums.

Make Believe uses ultra-loud electronic sounds. Notice how low the synths and ethereal pads are. This song is definitely leftfield. Take definitely delved back into his electronic roots on this song.

Lie-Twerx uses a touch of glitch music, soul, and hip hop. You can hear loopy vocal samples all over the place behind heavy bass and broken beats. This song is definitely leftfield.

Take delved back into his electronic roots on the song After Words by using bits of crushed distorted glitch music. A bunch of retro sounds are incorporated into this song. After Words is glitch music at its finest. Any electronic music fan will dig this. The vibraphone makes the song so hypnotic.  This melody is one of a kind. Now this song uses a Wu-Tang Clan sample produced by RZA.

Sugar Flower is notable and memorable for its ultra-loud chords, ultra heavy bass, and trance-like vocal sample. Those electronic synths oscillate from left-to-right and right-to-left. There is definitely a presence of hip hop due to the vinyl scratches that are used here.

Make Believe (Dimlite's Unbelievable Re-Make) was a remix of Make Believe that included retrofitted sounds that were not used on the original version which includes a trippy beat. Make Believe (Dimlite's Unbelievable Re-Make) was remixed by Dimlite.

I rate this album 4/5****!
