The name of the cemetery was named “Meckle Hill” due to being located on said Meckle Hill. Which were the name “Meckle Hill Cemetery” falls into place.
Meckle Hill Cemetery was a family cemetery which belonged to the Meckle family and was established by one of the Meckle family members. 5 members of the Meckle Family died of cholera and were burned on Meckle Hill just south of the Bee Creek Road. When Travis County workers were hauling road material out of Meckle Hill, the graves of Meckle Hill Cemetery. However when Travis County workers visited the cemetery, the graves could not be located.
