Lyle Lovett - I Love Everybody album review
Lyle Lovett - I Love Everybody is the album of love in the field of country music. Songs such as I Love Everybody, Good-Bye To Carolina, and Sonja are love songs which can be considered by country music fans to be love ballads. His I Love Everybody album was more successful than his 1992 album. This album reached gold status in the United States in less than 2 months. This album made him an icon in the field of country music.
Lyle Lovett dedicates his love to everybody on the song I Love Everybody. Sharing a little love with someone can go a very long way. Rickie Lee Jones, Eric Taylor, Julia Roberts, Ken Levitan, Walter Hyatt, and a handful of other people served as the backing chorus and background vocals on the song I Love Everybody. One could call I Love Everybody a posse cut.
In Verse 1, Lyle Lovett reminds the listener that if they feel lonely that he loves them and everybody else. Just remember that Lyle Lovett loves you.
So if you feel lonesome
Remember it's true
I love everybody
Especially you
Lyle Lovett gets intimate by showing his kinky side by mentioning features of his female companion. He shares intimate details such as her bosoms and legs. The details of Lyle’s female companion are quite kinky but not sexual in such manner.
[Verse 2]
It's not the long lashes
Or lips on your face
And it's not your bosoms
That time can't erase
And it's not those long slender
Legs on your feet
Your mind is the feature
That makes me remember
Sonja is a tale of how Lyle attempts to hit on a waitress. The song is sort of a realistic love ballad. This is his song about Sonja.
Lyle Lovett has never been lucky at picking up women. But this life that he lives is not one that he chose.
The waitress he is trying to pick up has curly blond hairy and wearing a pretty black dress. Under her black dress she is wearing Japanese shoes.
His rhyme schemes are clever and witty. Read some lyrics below.:
Man I need to impress her
He would like to undress her
She looked so pretty as she poured his coffee. However she had her eye on his friend at the bar. He watched her watch him. Lyle wishes her eye was on him instead. He can't find the right way to tell her his feelings.
Hello Grandma is about a phone call Lyle Lovett made to his grandmother. He mainly discusses family news with her. That is how he catches up with her. However both of them seem to be out of touch. The song is quite short in terms of longevity. Most of the lyrics are not to repetitive as they were in songs such as I Love Everybody and Sonja.
Hello Grandma begins with Lyle Lovett making a phone call to his mother. He is catching up on family news by getting in touch with his grandmother. Here is how the phone call begins. Read the lyrics below.:
Lyle Lovett: Hello, Grandma. How is your granddaughter? Hello, Grandma. How is that little girl? I've been kind of out of touch but I thought I would call her. Is she at home or is she around the world?
Grandma: Young man, you must mean Kathy. I never heard her mention you.
Lyle Lovett: No ma'am. I don't mean Kathy. I don't hardly even know her.
Grandma: Well Kathy's just fine. You know she's still going to school, but she'll be home Father's Day to see her father.
Lyle Lovett: No, Grandma. How's your other granddaughter? How is that little girl? I've been kind of out of touch lately, but I did used to know her. Is she at home or is she around the world?
Grandma: Well young man, you can't mean her. Why didn't you hear? She got married and moved off to Chicago. Her husband's so handsome. She just loves it up there. His family owns a newspaper and an opulent disco.
Lyle Lovett: Whoa, grandma. Is this 924-8838?
Grandma: Well, yes, young man. It certainly is.
Lyle Lovett: That's the problem, Grandma. I have made a mistake. I ain't called this number in too many years.
The song almost seems to be in written letter form. Here is how part of the phone call would be formatted in written letter form.:
Hello, Grandma.
How is your granddaughter? How is that little girl? I've been kind of out of touch but I thought I would call her. Is she at home or is she around the world?
~~Lyle Lovett
Skinny Legs is about this boy Lyle Lovett is idolizing and wants to be. This boy has everything Lyle would ever wanted.
See that boy with that guitar? He’s got skinny legs like Lyle always wanted. That boy has a girlfriend. Lyle believes skinniness will get him a girlfriend. He's got a shirt and tie like Lyle always wanted. He's got a blue Toyota and a Japanese girl in his car.
At the end of the song is where the Japanese girl ends up dumping that boy. But legs they come and faces go. Just like old Toyotas. That jap girl dumped his ass. She stole his clothes and took his car.
Moon On My Shoulder is a serenade/love song to an ex-lover. The song is a short love serenade. Lyle can’t seem to this person off of his mind. The lyrics say it all.
With the moon on my shoulder
And you on my mind
I will lay down
I will lay down
With the moon on my shoulder
And you on my mind
I will miss you more than I ever did
Lord ever did
They said that time would take care of it
Take care of it
I wish time would take care of me
With the moon on my shoulder
And you on my mind
I will lay down
I will lay down
With the moon on my shoulder
And you on my mind

Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth album review
Lyle Lovett’s album was Joshua Judges Ruth was one of least his successful albums did not gain mainstream acceptance with country music fans as his I Love Everybody album did. For some reason, fans were not as receptive of this album as they were his I Love Everybody album which is why Joshua Judges Ruth sold poorly in album sales. The album shows a much darker side of Lyle Lovett.
Church is a song which describes Lyle’s day at church last Sunday. The song is an unusual country song with a religious vibe which is quite graphic.
A highlight of this song is some of lyrics rhyming scheme. For example, saying may and choosing a word that rhymes with may such as day. For instance read these lyrics. The lyrics explain the rhyme scheme if you take time to analyze them.:
He said now I'll remind you if I may
You all better pay attention
Or I might decide to preach all day
And now everyone was getting so hungry
And the old ones started feeling ill
And the weak ones started passing out
And the young ones they could not sit still
Lyle went to church last Sunday so he could sing and pray. However something quite unusual happened on that day.
Now church started right on time as usual without a doubt. Everything was just fine. Except after church services were over when it came time to let us out.The preacher kept preaching. He told us, “I have one more thing to say. Children before you think of leaving. You better think about the Judgement Day.”
Now this is the point where everyone was getting nervous. Everyone was wondering what was the next thing he would do. Everyone was hungry too.
He kept on preaching. He said, “Now I'll remind you if I may. You all better pay attention or I might decide to preach all day.”
Everyone was getting so hungry. The old ones started feeling ill, the weak ones started passing out, and the young ones they could not sit still. The preacher's voice rose higher. So Lyle snuck up to the balcony and crept into the choir. He begged them brothers, sisters, help me please.
Now here is the turning point of this song.
The preacher said, “I said when I give you a signal and raise up my hands. Won't you please join with me together? Praise the Lord I have a plan.” “Long is the struggle, hard the fight. Father please forgive me. To the Lord let praises be. It's time for dinner. Now let's go eat. We've got some beans and some good cornbread.”
This is the part where the song gets unusual. The song takes a graphic, gruesome turn abruptly.
A great white dove from up above landed on the window sill. The dove flew down beside him and a fork appeared right in his hand. With everybody watching, the preacher ate that bird right there and then. Everyone got really nervous. Everyone watched on in disbelief.
These were the words he spoke. He said, “Now Mama's in the kitchen and she's been there all day. I know she's cooking something good. So let's bow our heads and pray.”
And the moral of this story is preacher preaches long enough, even he'll get hungry too and he'll sing.
Family Reserve is a song that reflect on the death of his uncle and several other family members. The mood of this song is filled with such sadness. Sad and mournful are two words to describe this Lyle Lovett song.
When Lyle saw the ambulance going down Main Street, he didn't give it a thought. But it was his Uncle Eugene. He died on October 2, 1981. They all called him Skinner. He'd get drunk in the morning and show Lyle the rolls of fifties and hundreds he kept in the glove box of his old gray SS Impala.
His second cousin Callaway died when he barely turned two. It was peanut butter and jelly that did it. Mama just stood there and watched him turn blue. She didn't know what to do.
Since The Last Time is a mournful song about Lyle’s time at a funeral. He tells details from his vivid memory.
Lyle went to a funeral. Lord it made him happy seeing all those people he ain't seen since the last time somebody died. Everybody was talking. They were telling funny stories. Then the people start crying. All of the little children start crying too. Lord they're scared. Because they ain't never seen a dead person before.
Now it's church on Sunday. It's a bar on Friday night. It's work on Monday. His schedule goes back to the usual routine.

FOD - Raw album review
FOD - Raw is a raw gutter Flint rap album that came from the underground music scene. Their raps are raw and deadly. The album itself is a raw rap album which is a classic to its own right. FOD is known for their raw energy and deep devotion to the reality side of life.
The album was released by MMM Records (Triple M) and distributed by Boomin Records in 1995. (The album was later re-released by RapBall Records. This album sold over 60,000 units mainly in the Midwest and Southern United States underground. By the end of 1995, Raw sold over 70,000 units underground coming close to 78,000 units. Raw took the underground market by storm.
FOD is Faces of Death from BucTown (Beecher, Michigan which is next to Flint, Michigan). FOD is Cap, Tuck, Big Chief, and H.Point. (FOD later was reduced as a duo consisting of Cap and Tuck.) Here is what Faces of Death stands for.: “We as humans have faces that are slowly dying. We are destined to be faces of death.”
Now for those who did not know, FOD was formally Mentally Dasturbed. The same Mentally Dasturbed that dropped the Life of A Criminal album in 1993 on cassette.
What’s interesting about the production aspect of this album is that DJ Clay did not produced this album nor was he hands on with FOD as he was with all the other artists Boomin Records distributed for. It was Big Chief who served as producer for the album as he did with their 1993 album. He was the project coordinator for the entire album. Dalo of Top Authority produced some songs on this FOD album.
If you were expecting a full album, then you will be solely disappointed as the album’s duration in only 28 minutes in time. Its short duration makes this FOD album more into an EP than it does an actual full length album. More songs could have been added such as all their songs from the Mentally Dasturbed album.
Harvest Time serves as the introduction. The introduction takes place during a weed session. The quartet discusses expanding their album sales on a nationwide scale. They begin talking about expanding distribution. To the West, South, East Coast, and Midwest is where FOD wants to market their album. Harvest Time is raw uncut Flint dope which is dope shit.
Harvest Time uses a sample from Mentally Dasturbed - Lossn My Mind and The D.O.C. - The D.O.C. & The Doctor. The drum programming and sequencing samples the rhythmic patterns of The D.O.C. - The D.O.C. & The Doctor also.
Whuts Go N On is about what’s going on in the city of Flint. Both members of Top Authority make guest appearances on Whuts Go N On.
Just because a brother is trying to come up, people start acting ill. So much pressure is on another level. Fools be fightin. People fight over nothing in a city such as this one. Step up and load your gauge up. Flint is a city plagued with crime, poverty, and violence.
5th Street was produced by Dalo and Big Chief in 1995. Big Chief provides the additional vocals. The drum programming and sequencing sample Brotha Lynch Hung - 24 Deep. The beats and bass really stand out astonishingly. The song is aimed at wannabe G’s and police.
5th Street begins with a bangin ass beat. FOD is riding 4 deep all locced out with the cop killer Big Chief. They hit up town. A driveby is in progress. 14 people were shot from a glock. Now they go pull over their vehicle on 5th Street in the 5th Ward neighborhood of Flint. Police feel the wrath of the AK. They let their brains
Tuck has no love for cops. Especially the undercover cop who is on the block slanging rocks (cocaine). Flint is a city plagued with crime, poverty, and violence. People fight over nothing in a city such as this one.
If We Gon Smoke is a song to smoke a blunt to and get drunk to. If We Gon Smoke was produced by Dalo of Top Authority.
Shots Out is a track which calms down the albums mood due to its mid tempo vibe. The track is perfect for you to chill to. Co-P (Corey Peterson) produced the track and did the drum programming.

398 - Welcome To The Darkside album review
398 - Welcome To The Darkside is a dark poetic description of life about some of it's darkest realities. These rap tunes are melodic all the way through. Welcome To The Darkside can be noted for its deep lyrics and dark concepts. His lyrics are well written as they are hardcore and realistic. Other songs are even religious. The album does have a dark eerie feel. This album is much different then to what you heard before. This album is old but some music never looses it's potency. The album itself is worth downloading and streaming.
398 composed all the songs on this album entirely by himself using a keyboard he bought back in the 90s. This album was sold in the Trinity Gardens neighborhood of Houston and was later re-released online to CDBaby in 2005.
Intro welcomes us to the dark side. A heartbeat is played throughout the song leaving short but thumping impacts on your headphone. The song uses a 32Hz bass test tone right in the middle of the song. The intro itself as a whole is very dark.
398 himself can be heard speaking in reverse towards the end of Intro. In fact, interestingly enough he reversed the whole song so the listener(s) wouldn’t know what exactly he said. Here are some of the lyrics to what 398 spoke in reverse.:
I grabbed my dong
then she pulled it out
and she wanted to lick
We’re both trying
licking on my dick
licking on my dick
licking on my dick
licking on my dick
I knew she was all up on
licking on my dick
licking on my dick
licking on my dick
that nigga penis
that nigga be blessed
that nigga be choking on head
like my dick
got it up and down like a roller coaster
got it up against the wall like a poster
I don’t love you
398 takes on a journey into the dark side on the song Welcome To The Darkside. Welcome To The Darkside can be noted for its deep lyrics and dark concepts. The sound is very dark and raw. Piano keys used have a very dark foreboding brooding mood to them. The title itself and its vibe gives it darkness. Its sound effects give off such quirkiness. You will see the light after listening to Welcome To The Darkside.
The sound is very much similar to early Bone Thugs N Harmony, Three 6 Mafia, DJ Paul, Crunchy Black, DJ Zirk, ghetto tech, gangsta rap, electronic music, Tommy Wright III, Gangsta Blac, Abstract Unique, Busta Rhymes, and Memphis rap from the early 90s. In fact his rapping style is very much similar to Tommy Wright III and early Bone Thugs N Harmony.
The song 398 has that clinically insane, psychotic eerie vibe that will make you want to sit in a cardboard box and rock back & forth repetitively in fast motion. This is one of those songs to rock back & forth to, sit in a corner to stare at a wall all day to, bite your fingernails to, mentally break down to, and emotionally break down to. This song will drive you to sit in a corner and stare at a wall all day.
398 experiments with a reggae sound by using a Jamaican Patois accent when rapping. That is why the song 398 has a reggae vibe.
Revelations is a religious rap song with a dark eerie vibe. The keyboards used on this religious rap gives it an appropriate dark eerie vibe to blend with the soundscape.
398 reminds us that can run and hide but we can’t escape the inevitable. Meaning that we can’t escape death. That is the message 398 himself is trying to convey to us. Revelations don’t lie. Believe what you feel. However the truth is ultimately right. He makes references to Bible Verse Aust 11:17.
Hold On is a religious rap song written and arranged by 398. 398 gets in touch with his religious side on this song of his. The song uses bits of bells and claves.
Heaven has been so hard to find. He’s been asking God to take him because of hard times lately. He asks God to make feel peace within his soul because all he sees is chaos in this world. He’s been under the influence of Prexor, Prozac, and Arisol. And of course other shit he can’t recall. The reason why he is going through all of this negativity is because of his bad luck.
398 tells us to hold on to your own because you can’t help nobody else. Hold on to your own because you can’t help nobody here. Hold on to what you got. Don’t give it to nobody.
398 is always in some shit whether it be good or bad. Nobody wants to help him. Not even family. He’s seen many people down. Many people who were down on their luck or either going through hard times. He tried help them but couldn’t help them all.
Trunk Of Funk has bass that will rattle your speakers layered over eerie soundscapes from a keyboard used ingeniously by none other than 398 himself. His rapping style on this song very much similar to Tommy Wright III and early Bone Thugs N Harmony.
Ride 4 Me starts of with a dark eerie vibe with heavy pultruding bass lines from a keyboard synthesizer. 398 talks about memories on this song. No Survivors is a hardcore rap song with edgy lyrics. 398 does not hold back in his rap.
War & Love is an eerie rap song about survival. The beats are tight and so is the instrumentation arrangement. The trilogy of a thug starts in the ghetto. Gloom and doom fills the room. The Teflon is ready, clipped to catch one. A thug has battle scars. Drama will get you one the edge when you live in the ghetto. The realist soldier can only survive so much. A thug can’t see war and love clearly.

Big Samad Sefiane - Pop Dat Hood/Never Dance Again single review
Pop Dat Hood was released as a CD-r underground and as a download only in 2007. He experiments with the dirty southern rap sound on this single more-so than his previous efforts. His music is a mixture of white boy rap and comedy. These 2 are catchy tune with entertaining lyrics. His raps have a comedic sound with an upbeat rhythm to it. However this single has more repetitive lyrics than all of his other single from the previous years undoubtedly.
The lyrics are too repetitive. The production is top notch! Heavy bass compensates for the lackluster lyrics. He needs to work on his final master remixes and change the beats a little more. His raps don’t always match up with the beats or fit in correctly. If you enjoy the production side of things, then you will enjoy this single.
Big Samad Sefiane experiments with the sound of dirty southern rap specifically on the track Pop Dat Hood. Big Samad Sefiane seemed to have been influenced by the explosion of Houston rap of the 2000s which launched its music scene onto a national catalyst. It’s lyrics are repetitive while the production is picture perfect.
The lyrics, language, rhymes, word schemes, and rhetorical schemes are simple. The lyrics, rhymes, and words are quite similar to the level of elementary school English. Let alone middle school English. Big Samad Sefiane has done a better job of rapping than this in his previous singles and albums.
Take a look at how repetitive the lyrics are.:
North side, south side
west side, east side
Pop dat hood
pop dat hood
pop dat hood
What you ridin in?
What you ridin in?
Never Dance Again is an original emotional dance song written by Big Samad Sefiane himself. Time and energy was put into the track Never Dance Again. It has a classic pop soul sound which is what is different about this track. He gets in touch with his emotions. Raw emotions are visible in the lyrics.
However the song Never Dance Again samples George Michael - Careless Whisper. The song relies heavily on the George Michael - Careless Whisper sample. Never Dance Again is the most downloaded song from the Pop Dat Hood album.
His raw emotions show in the lyrics. For example:
Verse 3
Have you ever felt pain
when you lost love?
Did you ever take a moment
to look up at the sky?
Did you ever take the time
to listen to the rain?
Do you cherish every moment
that passes by without me?
Can you feel what I feel my love?
CHORUS
Never Dance Again
Never Dance Again
Verse 4
Have you ever stood in front
of a waterfall
and stared at
your grief and pain
slide down the rocks?
Have you ever stared
at the bright stars
to ease your pain?
Have you ever forgiven
my broken heart?
Have you ever thought what
it's like to be without me?
Can you feel what I feel my love?
Last Verse:
Can you feel how much I miss you?
