Esperanza Spalding - Exposure album review

Esperanza Spalding - Exposure is a beautiful abstract masterpiece of nu-jazz from 2017. Fans of nu-jazz slept on this album. Her songwriting is as talented as always. The soothing bass section keeps the mood along with everything else calm. Esperanza Spalding had certainly grown as an artist since her last album.


Swimming Toward the Black Dot is about Esperanza completing a composition piece she is writing. The song showcases her talent in songwriting.

There are black spots of heavy ink her bones from lone sitting stark and alone. Now her limbs are writing. She starts blurry casting a stone. A lone ripple tears through the blank. Lighting the face of the deep. Stirring the delicate monsters she keep. Pushing toward the ground There’s a word there she needs. As far in this world as she can from belief. Esperanza is swimming toward the black dot.

She sees those bodies bobbing and wasting on the shore. Soggy pages litter the sand with pure thought and white bones clean as mind in a vacuum taking sun. Safe beach blankets flat and getting nowhere with the bodies bobbing and wasting on the shore. Soggy pages litter the sand with pure thought dying clean and pure beneath a parasol.


Colonial Fire is another song of hers which showcases her talented songwriting skill and instrumentation. Esperanza Spalding had certainly grown as an artist since her last album. This song is certainly exceptional.

DEMONDICE - ALKATRAZ album review

DEMONDICE - ALKATRAZ is a swing rap album which can be described as an “experimental hip-hop album” combining “the swingin' sounds of the 1920s with pop-rap of the 2020s.” Swing rap meets pop rap and freestyle on this album of hers thus creating an electro swing vibe. Quite vintage and modern at the same time. Some of the songs use Japanese lyrics.


Ragin' Ray and Jin was a song based on a comic of the same name that was created by DEMONDICE. Ragin' Ray and Jin retells the story of “HonkyTonk Hustlers”. Ragin'  boys can't stop dreamin’. They tell a story with rhyme but no reason. Are ya feelin' just a little ambitious? Are ya seeking something kinda fictitious? The song uses some Japanese lyrics.

So how did all this madness begin? The madness began with this gent called “Raymond the Rich”. Better known as “Ragin' Ray”. And when he came onto the scene you'd either cower or ditch. The silent stone-faced heir to countless riches that preceded him. He was a scholar you could never dethrone. All 7 feet of him. The man had plenty going for him until a mysterious inferno took his family and fortune. The furious but calm and collected “Ray thе Ex-Heir” aka “Raymond the Rich” now lives an unprotectеd life without a penny to spare.

And who's that? Back in the alleys of NeuMoney there spins the wily vicious and ambitious tiny devil named Jin. Jin is a stylish charismatic rebel and a roller of dice. He is a gambler.  Jin came off the boat at age 3 and learned “prestige” is sold for a price. And though his eyes had dollar signs. His upbringing had ensured this. He'd rather earn through honest work than have his future secured by predecessor’s success. And here begins the Ragin' Ray and Jin's tumultuous show!

Ray's the “connect” and Jin’s the silvery tongue. They raise the stakes and collect the chips. That's how business is done. Here is an instance of one idea where the boys laid their hands. A “rent-a-DJ” in a neighborhood where hip-hop was banned. They heard investors were a plenty. A breeze if the timing was right. They chose a place you could “speak easy” with the pigs outta sight. And Ray had said the owner of the joint's a tough mark to shake. The Owner's taste in music? It was anyone's guess. He gave their vinyl a spin, but he just wasn't impressed. He showed his guests to the door. But Jin refused to leave. Jin said, “This other record's guaranteed to BLOW YA MIND!!” But it's a young and promising market. Surely everything’s jake. Not so!

Smoke and noise enough to drive you mental. Drowning in emotion, sin, and fake affections. Plainly, “drive” is a train of thought with no direction!

It’s a shame there's not a lot of ways this kind of tale ends well. The ideas were there. The numbers didn't see them starving. Yet the money was none. No money was being made off their music. The gents had not a penny farthing. And as for Ray and Jin, in case you wonder where they've been, last I heard their latest investor was a fellow named “Satan”.


Rumor! is a song which explains why DEMONDICE likes drama in her life.

Real life’s so boring. Life is full of deceit and shaming. DEMONDICE loves gossip. She loves talking smack and starting drama while blocking attacks from bearcats prima-donnas. Is it worth it? In these lazy-brained times, maybe. Forget about the foes and upstage neighbors. And spread about that all-the-rage envious flavor! Because it’s too much labor keeping all of the facts straight. The party’s so much greater when the rumors start to circulate.

DEMONDICE would love to hear more about what you’ve been up to! She heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from anonymous. But you won’t tell like anybody, promise us? DEMONDICE is one of those cheap girls who dance around the rumor mill. She exists to derail. Her main purpose of existence is to be a social chaos designer. She witnesses every detail and make it so much diviner. The usual gents strike while the iron is hot. Steppin’ in before the “whores” become “after-thots”. Transparency is so like 1910’s.

Cissie Redgwick - Gimme That Swing! / Mister Mister is one of the best electro swing singles of 2014. A stunning released from the Leeds indie label Cuckoo Records. This is an electro swing single you will not want to miss out on the opportunity of listening to. The single mixes 1920s swing era tunes with contemporary modern production hence the great electro vibe. Her music brings back memories of the Swing and Boogie Era. Cissie Redgwick is amazing due to her splendid voice. You can tell she has genuine talent as she sings from the heart. Cissie Redgwick is the alter-ego of a talented British singer who claims her real name is Rosie Doonan.


Gimme That Swing! is a catchy electro swing song which uses 1920s swing with contemporary modern electronic production. The song is played in A major. The song is about Cissie finding out that her beau was not the right person to be loving.

Cissie’s heart is giving her beau so much love. She tries not to need him so much. She knew he was the one right from the start. His eyes were saying the same. But now it seems she was easy to save. Cissie is gonna shoot his down because he has given his heart away. Even though Cissie loved him from the start. He loved her all the same. She tells her sorry lover that he better run for cover.

He gave Cissie diamonds and gold. Her heart was a heart that was easily sold as she fell for his lies and dangerous charms. Cissie set herself up for failure. But now it seems she was easy to save. She was only a stepping stone. Now he’s given his heart away to someone else and she will make him pay. Cissie has no reason to hide now that she has seen through his lies. She won't wait around for his call any longer. Cissie has come to the realization that he is the reason for her to change.


Cissie dumps her beau because he treats her very unkindly. There's nothing left. She can't give any more love to her beau. That is what the song Mister Mister is about. Mister Mister is another catchy electro swing song. You can tell she has genuine talent as she sings from the heart.

There's nothing left. She can't give any more love to her beau. Another mister's been banging down her door. All those friends he adores can love him when Cissie is gone. She doesn't need him anymore. Cissie tells her beau straight in a forward direct manner, “There's nothing left. No, I can't give anymore. Another mister's been banging down my door. Alice Francis – Electric Shock was the follow-up album to Alice Francis – St. James Ballroom. Alice Francis – Electric Shock is an overlooked gem of an electro swing album which has vintage jazz sound. Not many people knew about this album which flew under the music radar. The producers put pop and 1930s jazz music together perfectly. The album has eloquently produced jazz compositions such as Bird's Melody, Too Damn Hot,


Alice sings about how the birds sing for her as they're sitting in the apple trees on the soothing Bird's Melody.Bird's Melody has an irresistible melody that is sung perfectly by Alice. Her voice is so soothing as always.

It's such a sunny day but her lover is too far away from her. Alice wishes them both on a star while she wondering where he is. And the birds sing for Alice as they're sitting in the apple trees. The birds sing this sweet melody all for him and for Alice. She is waiting for tonight for her lover to be by her side. She is waiting here all patiently with this sweet melody.


Alice shows the hotness from her rough and tough side on the blazing Too Damn Hot. The producers put pop and 1930s jazz music together perfectly. This is another eloquently produced jazz composition.

Alice is too damn hot and too tough for the man attempting to hit on her. Alice sees he wants her desperately. Sweet talk is not enough to get her attention. So Alice tells him, “Forget it! Stop tryin’. I’m way too tough!” She is out of his league. His tactics are interesting and amusing. But he is simply just waisting his time.


Beatptized is a beat driven Afrobeat song which changes up the vibe and pace for the album. An ensemble of African drums were used throughout the song. Alice gets in touch with her spiritual side on this song. The song is about the spirit of love.

Alice was going to the riverside to finally break up with love. Then a spirit came upon her. This was a spirit that was manifested in vibes. And then she saw the light. She found out two things. Love is a rhythm. Love is a beat. It infected her system and brought her down to her knees. The moment that Alice opened up her eyes, she realized she was beatptized. Baptized with beats. Think about a baptism with beats.

Love is a fire that burns in her soul.  This got her out of control. The spirit told her, “Love is something that you need. My child the time is right, let your love run free.” Now Alice is dancing barefoot. The rhythm has got her breaking. Alice got baptized in the Mississippi Delta. When she opened up her eyes, she was beatptized. The boom bab beatptized her on the dance floor levitating with this energy. Alice has been affected and possessed with the best gift. She started doing gymnastics.

The Timejumpers album uses a mixture of jazz and country music where Texas swing, lounge jazz, traditional country, and swing jazz meet each other. For the most part, the album relies on that traditional country sound and Texas swing. The album features songs from reputable country heavyweights and songwriters such as Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, and Larry Franklin.


The Woman of My Dreams was song written and performed by country heavyweight Vince Gill. This is a Vince Gill solo. The song explains why Vince misses the woman of his dreams.

Here comes the heartache and here comes the pain. Here comes the teardrops falling down like rain. There goes the woman of Vince’s dreams. The woman of Vince’s dreams was everything. She was his baby. She is making plans on dating someone new. They're holding hands like Vince and her used to. She wears a smile like he has never seen. He reads her old love letters until dawn. Vince wonders would she still be gone if he loved her better? Vince yearns for the days when she wore his ring.

Al Dexter - Pistol Packin’ Mama/Rosalita single review

The Pistol Packin’ Mama/Rosalita single by Al Dexter is one of the lesser jazz inspired country music singles where the sounds of jazz meet country music. This single will take you on a ride through country music.


Pistol Packin’ Mama explains how Al came across a pistol packin’ mama one night and now he is on the run. The end of the song ends in tragedy where the pistol packin’ mama shoots Al dead. That is how the song has a tragic ending.

Al was having fun drinking beer in a cabaret. Until one night this pistol packin’ mama and now he is on the run. All tells her, “Lay that pistol down, babe. Pistol Packin' Mama, lay that pistol down.” She kicked out his windshield - She hit Al over the head. She cussed and cried. She said Al lied and wished that he was dead.

Al was drinking beer in a cabaret and dancin' with a blond until one night that Pistol Packin' Mama shot out the light. Bang! That blond was gone. Al promised to see her every night and woo her. He told her, “I'll be your regular daddy if you'll put that gun away.” Now there was old Al Dexter. He always had his fun. But with some lead, she shot him dead. His honkin' days are done.


Rosalita is a love song about how Al will go back to his one love named Rosalita because he promised her he would come back to her.

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies - Soul Caddy is a ska fusioned swing album with lively production from a live band that performs that upbeat swing revival sound. Their melodies are certainly swinging.


Diamond Light Boogie uses a bit of boogie pop and nostalgic swing revival. The song told people to dance for the last time before the 20th century ended.

I'm nostalgic for that good ol' atomic bomb. Look at Miss crossdressin' Annie trippin' out in drag out there boogieing with Tyrannosaurus Bob. Now it's a cyberdelic world of jet boys and tiger girls. They sold us down the river. But the diamond light still shimmers from our hearts. Sunglass Sam kept you up all night. Bubblegum girls wear their pants too tight. Diamond Light Boogie is sparklin' bright. Let the 21st century roll!

Here comes the Countess Connie Casserole. She's butterflyin' in expensive rags trippin' out in drag. Shoved right out of doorways. They've hit the streets of fire And then they sniff themselves awake while they do the titty shake. The 20th century is ending. It's your last chance to dance to rock 'n' roll.


The song Uncle Ray told the mysterious story of a relative people couldn't find named Uncle Ray.

Uncle Ray is gone.  Uncle Ray was a relative people couldn't find. He was finally free of his insanity. They covered him with lime in a ditch outside the old junkyard on I 17. Well that crazy drunk was a gentleman to his lady. Here lies Uncle Ray. A working man with dry rough skin like bark from trees. His hands tell all. These lyrics indicate Uncle Ray was a member of the working class when he was alive. “Here lies Uncle Ray/Dry rough skin, his hands, a working man, like bark from trees”

So they take him far far away out past all discussions. Far from what they said He'd come to the back door of a family's house for coffee and something to eat. He pushed a shopping cart all filled with junk and empty cans. He came home from the war to find his wife now loved another man. All the neighbors used to laugh and throw snowballs at him.

Jamie Foxx - Unpredictable album review

Jamie Foxx - Unpredictable is one steamy seductive romantic R&B album that is one of the best R&B/soul albums from 2005. One could call this album “seductual”. The album has heated steamy romantic bedroom ballads such as DJ Play A Love Song, Can I Take U Home, and Unpredictable. Slow jams can be heard sporadically on this album. His album is driven by sensual R&B production. Not to mention that he gets kinky at times on most of his songs.

Jamie Foxx had certainly grown as an artist and singer since his last album. For example, the production is more enhanced and louder than his debut album. You can actually hear his clear tenor vocals. He experiments with using other genres such as jazz on songs such as Extravaganza.


Can I Take U Home is the best Jamie Foxx on the album. The song Can I Take U Home is a heated steamy romantic bedroom ballad with crystal clear sensual R&B production. Notice the slow pace and tempo. The song is about Jamie wanting to know if he can take the lady he has his eyes to her home so they can commence to love making.

This lady knows what Jamie wants. He knows what she wants. There are many ladies in the room. All that Jamie can see is her. This lady is a dime piece in the place. But she came through and took the cake. He wants her to let him into her life. He wants to prove it to her one on one. So Jamie asks her, “Can I take you home, girl? Jamie’s plans are to get her all alone and kiss her like he wants to.”

Jamie finds himself staring at this lady eye to eye. He tells her he is nothing like these other guys and he is not here to waste her time. He doesn’t want to leave unless she is leaving with him. Jamie believes believe in fate. It's like heaven sent her to be the one for him and to be with him.


Storm (Forecast) is another heated steamy romantic bedroom ballad crystal clear sensual R&B production. The bass and beats are on point. You can hear quite a bit of quiet storm on the song. The song is about Jamie and his lover having sex in the rain.

Jamie has got nothing but his t-shirt and boxers on. He is waiting for his lover to get home. It’s been sunny outside all day. He can't wait for it to storm. He wants to feel her raindrops fallin' down all on him. That thunder from down under surrounding him. Coming down hard pounding him. He wants it soaking wet all over the bed. Jamie wants the rain to come.

Lights out like a power outage cause of the lighting in her bedspring showers. He can feel the mist every time they kissed. Just didn't know a downpour like this. There's a flash flood warning until they wake up in the morning. The weatherman said there'll be puddles in the bed.  The weatherman said it’s cloudy skies right there between her thighs Jamie is pluckin' for scattered showers for about an hour.

The bridge is the kinky part of the song that is not too explicit.

Romantic is one word to describe the song. This song was insanely popular on radio stations internationally during the mid-00s from 2005 to 2008. The song is about a girl not wanting be with her current man. She has her eyes on Jamie. Jamie senses things are not right at home. So he asks the DJ to play her a love song.

Jamie’s romance senses are tingling. That is what these lyrics imply. “She's looking at me kinda hard, I can tell that things/Ain't right on the home front/What she really needs is a G like me to beat it, beat it”

He can see how she want it baby. This lady wishes her man wasn't here with her. Homeboy can't please her. Jamie sees this. Curiosity has got her wanting to try Jamie. She wants to bump and grind on this wall in the open. She wouldn't care if the crowd was watching. Jamie has gotta notion to pull her ass up outta here. This is because his horny senses are tingling.

Jamie senses things are not right at home. So he asks the DJ to play her a love song. He tells the DJ, “DJ, won't you play this girl a love song? She really needs to hear this freaking love song. She's looking at me kinda hard. I can tell that things in't right on the home front. What she really needs is a G like me to beat it.”

Jamie has things he wants to tell her privately. So he asks her to meet him in the bathroom so they can pull a freaky episode. Jamie has got his Beretta if the nigga come through. Jamie senses things are not right at home. He is aware that her man is not treating her right. She tells Jamie she has so many things she wants to say but not out in public.

There should have been a more explicit version of the song with explicit lyrics used. That is what should have happened.

Jamie Foxx and Kanye West experimented with using other genres such as jazz on the song such as Extravaganza. The piano sounded like a grand piano you would hear in an orchestra or at a lounge where jazz music is played. The song was about Jamie ending up at the Embassy Hotel with this lady from Memphis, Tennessee because he had one too many drinks.

Last night Jamie Foxx and his dogs were hanging out. They were tired of being cramped up in the house. They were simply celebrating life off from work today. But all those ups and downs had Jamie in a twist. He started dancing with this model chick and then every record became his favorite song. That is all that Jamie remembers because he had one too many drinks and ended up at the Embassy Hotel with this pretty little thing from Memphis, Tennessee. It was a one night extravaganza.

When he woke up from last night's avowtry, the lady was laying next to him. Shoes and clothes were scattered everywhere. He got dressed and got up out of there. But not before he called for himself a cab. Jamie was hung over from all the drinks he had.

Bajka - In Wonderland album review

Bajka - In Wonderland is a beautiful Indian jazz album from the Asian country of India. All of her songs on the album are very poetic as they have a poetic vibe and sound to them. Not to mention her calm demeanor and timbre in her vocals. Kind of like acid jazz.


The Landing tells the story of a bellman who is forgetful and often leaves important things behind.

There was one who was famed for the number of things. The bellman forgot when he entered the ship. He forgot all his jewels and rings. He forgot his umbrella, his watch, and the clothes he had bought for the trip. He had 42 boxes all carefully packed with his name painted clearly on each box. But since he omitted to mention the fact they were all left behind on the beach.

The Bellman would often remark, "His form is ungainly — his intellect small —" "But his courage is perfect! And that, after all is the thing that one needs with a Snark. but his courage is perfect! And that is the thing that one needs with a Snark."

The loss of his clothes hardly mattered because he had 7 coats on when he came with 3 pairs of boots. But the worst of it was he had wholly forgotten his name. He would answer to "Hi!" or to any loud cry such as "Fry me!" or "Fritter my wig!" to "What-you-may-call-um!" or "What-was-his-name!" But especially "Thing-um-a-jig!" While for those who preferred a more forcible word. He had different names from these. His intimate friends called him "Candle-ends" and his enemies "Toasted-cheese". The bellman came as a baker to that ship. It drove the poor Bellman half-mad because he could only bake Bridecake for which no materials were to be had.


The Bellman’s Speech is a more poetic acid jazz song where Bajka uses her skillful poetry from her poetry skills. The Bellman’s Speech discusses the unmistakable marks made by the bellman.

Mac - Son of the City album review

Ex-No Limit Records artist Mac has proved that he has not lost a step and is still is a lyrical beast on his new album called Son of the City. Mac can still wreck and kill his verses. Hardcore lyricism over gritty studio beats are what you can expect to hear on this album. Son of the City is Mac’s first album in 23 years since Mac was incarcerated in prison for a crime he did not commit. (Well 4 years to be exact since the release of the Wrongfully Convicted album was released in 2018.) Son of the City is one of lesser known albums of 2022 that is hardly talked about.

Proverbs (If Forever Comes) uses smooth crystal clear crisp jazzy beats and jazz instrumentation. That piano gives the song a laid back lounge sound and vibe. Mac proves his lyricism and flow are still there on this song of his.

Uncut is a New Orleans style lyrical rap gumbo track. Mac killed his verse on Uncut! So did Ex-No Limit Records artists Fiend and Curren$y. Uncut is one of the standout tracks on his album along with 21 Summers, Big Easy, and I Can’t Go. This lyricist proves that he has not lost his touch after being locked up for over 2 decades.

21 Summers discussed how Mac spent his 21 summers in prison while he maintained his innocence about a crime he had not committed. He maintained his innocence because he elaborates that he was wrongfully incarcerated. You can interpret his natural maturity that comes with age. After 21 years behind bars, Mac Phipps gets to tell his story, his way. Mac killed his verses on 21 Summers!
