This is Michael Mixerr. This afternoon I will review Welfed - Down Home Greens.
Down Home Greens is another yet prolific album by Welfed that was released on cassette by Po-Man Records/Rouse Records, Inc. in 1996. What is completely different about this Welfed album is that there more tracks on this album than his previous debut effort. Spoken word meets hip hop on the Down Home Greens album. The Down Home Greens album is a hip hop album with a soulful sound. In other words, the hip hop on this Welfed album has a soulful sound.
The Soul Intro is a spoken word introduction performed by Welfed. The Soul Intro is hip hop with a soulful sound. However despite being a hip hop track with a soulful sound, there are no instruments used in this introduction.
On Family, Welfed states it would be cool if we stuck together like a family. Rich or poor, we all need family. Welfed visualizes as he has a small family that big unconditional love in any range of size. Welfed shares all the wisdom he holds inside of himself. He shares his wisdom with the youth. Enjoy your family. Cherish your family. Welfed clearly enjoys spreading his wisdom.
Welfed makes it happen on Make It Happen. Early on, Make It Happen turns in a heavy brigade of heavy bass. A small ensemble of percussion is used to accompany the heavy brigade of heavy bass. Make It Happen is a lyrical freestyle being that the track is a freestyle ridden heavy with lyricism.
Parable Of 3 MC's is a posse cut on the Down Home Greens album. Welfed, Aslaam, and Ordaind represent the Parable Of 3 MC’s. The Parable Of 3 MC’s is a poor man’s ideology. A jazz sample is used in the background to accompany this track. The whole track is dope!
N.A.P. (Surprise) is another Welfed track ridden with heavy bass and a small ensemble of percussion. N.A.P. (Surprise) deals with the social issues and political problems African Americans face in the United States. Hip hop with a soulful sound is one way to describe the N.A.P. (Surprise) track.
I rate this album, God Home Green, 4/5****!
