Exploring history of the Lowman Ranch House aka Albert Lowman House/Albert T. Lowman House.

The Lowman Ranch House aka Albert Lowman House is one of the lesser known historic houses of San Marcos, Texas. This news article will discuss the history behind the Lowman Ranch House aka Albert Lowman House. The Lowman Ranch House is also known as the Albert Lowman House and Albert T. Lowman House.


 

Fred G. Lowman and his wife, Grace B. Lowman, purchased 955 acres of land from Hays County to establish a ranch which would become Lowman Ranch on the date of February 10, 1846. His land was surveyed for the Edward Burleson Survey on October 7, 1847. A wooden styled ranch house was built that same year with additions added on and made in 1848. This wooden styled ranch house served as the Lowman Ranch House. (Ref: Hays County Deeds, Doc. #00058757)

 


A white single story German ranch style house was constructed on the property in 1900. Masonry brick was used to construct a chimney and fireplace. A front gable was added to the porch of this house. The house would also serve as the Albert Lowman House. This house is actually prairie styled house due to emphasis on the horizontal edges and ends.


Lowman Ranch was incorporated and registered as a domestic limited partnership on the date of July 28, 1967. Lowman Ranch was incorporated as Lowman Ranch, LTD. The Lowman Ranch House would serve as headquarters for Lowman Ranch. (Ref: https://bizstanding.com/p/lowman+ranch+ltd-185719474)

Fred G. Lowman’s great grandson, Albert T. Lowman, acquired the property on a warranty deed on the date of June 17, 1996. Albert T. Lowman put Lowman Ranch on a living trust called Albert T. Lowman Living Trust on the date of 8/8/1996. Albert T. Lowman was the trustee for the Albert T. Lowman Living Trust as stated in the warranty deed. (Ref: Hays County Deeds, Doc. #00405017)


 

 



Albert T. Lowman deed 4.918 acres of land to the State of Texas for widening FM 2439 extending downwards toward Comal County in 2000. The Lowman Ranch House remained untouched. (Ref: Hays County Deeds, Doc. #00026219)




The Lowman Ranch House is now owned by a living trust called Albert T. Lowman Living Trust which is managed by Albert T. Lowman. Albert T. Lowman is the trustee for the Albert T. Lowman Living Trust and Lowman Ranch. (Ref: https://esearch.hayscad.com/Property/View/R13078)
