Linda Martin moved to the Oakwood Heights neighborhood and subdivision around the year of 1968 during the 1967-1968 fiscal year. Here she purchased a 2-story home which would become known as the Linda Martin Home. Now the Linda Martin Home was owned by a business owner and longtime Oakwood Heights resident Linda Martin. She lived there for 42 years.

In 2012, The Detroit News reported that Linda Martin had lived in the Linda Martin Home until 2010 when the City of Detroit offered $50,000 dollars in buyout money so Marathon Oil Refinery could build an annex on her land. However she was reluctant to accept the offer at first due to her health problems. Marathon's offer for her home was not enough to enable her to make a down payment on another house.
