Some history behind Urbahn Grammar School in Laredo, Texas explored and explained.

Urbahn Grammar School is one of the highly known grammar schools of Laredo, Texas. This news article will explain some of the history behind Urbahn Grammar School.


Urbahn Grammar School was built to replace the Urbahn School in 1917 at a cost of $20,000 dollars. This grammar school building is a handsome brick building. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/image/?clipping_id=1001563)

The Laredo ISD school board passed a resolution in naming the grammar school building the "Urbahn Grammar School" in honor of Mr. Albert Urbahn.  Urbahn Grammar School was named in honor of a well known Laredo philanthropist and general benefactor Mr. Albert Urbahn. Miss Julia Schultz was the principal and teacher of the 1st grade classes. Urbahn Grammar School was a 1-7 school for students in grades 1 through 7. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/62428921/)
