St. Peter's Catholic Church was established at the turn of the 19th century in 1897 at the location of 1500 Matamoros Street in the St. Peter's Historic District of Laredo, Texas. The church building for St. Peter's Catholic Church was built as a Gothic Revival church with heavily altered stucco. St. Peter's Catholic Church is attributed to by German craftsman Heinrich Portscheller and is the namesake for the neighborhood. German craftsman Heinrich Portscheller designed the church.
