History of the Fort Wrangel Brewery Beer Hall/Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall in Wrangell, Alaska explored.

This 2½ story was built in 1898 with a modified false front building with a shed roof by brew master  Bruno Greif to house his beer hall, which he operated from 1898 to 1910. Fort Wrangel Brewery Beer Hall/Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall was owned and operated by Bruno Greif. Fort Wrangel Brewery Beer Hall/Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall was constructed to serve the fort and small town of Wrangell, Alaska. Fort Wrangel Brewery Beer Hall/Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall shared the street with The Totem Pole Drug Store, owned and operated by Dr. R. B. Davy. The drug store offered "photographic views and Indian Curios" to the tourists. (Ref: Fort Wrangell News, Oct. 26, 1898) to the tourists.

In one ad from the Stikeen River Journal in 1898, Bruno Grief, Proprietor says, "It is a pleasure to take up one of those big, foaming mugs and look for the bottom. I wish my throat was a yard long every time I tackle one of Bruno's best." Keg beer was sold for 40 cents a gallon and bottled beer was $1.50 per dozen. (Ref: Stikeen River Journal in 1898)

Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall kept the finest wines and liquors. They had old fashioned lager beer made from pure malt and hops. Their old fashioned lager beer and bottled beer was their specialty. Brothers Anselme Lemieux and Antime Lemieux purchased the restaurant property from Bruno Greif in 1909 thus gaining full ownership. Anselme Lemieux and Antime Lemieux operated Stikine Hotel at this location from 1910 to 1924. Stikine Hotel had a saloon which served beer. The saloon at Stikine Hotel operated from 1910 to 1917. This building has been significantly altered several times. Fort Wrangell Brewery Beer Hall is one of the few buildings still standing that was built during the 1898-­1899 Klondike boom.
