Short history behind Spanish Oaks Trailer Park in San Antonio, Texas explored.

Spanish Oaks Trailer Park is one of the many forgotten trailer parks of San Antonio, Texas which history has been forgotten away with time. This news article will explain what Spanish Oaks Trailer Park once was.

However a water well was drilled on the property prior to becoming Spanish Oaks Trailer Park. This water well was manufactured by Meyers and was drilled in 1953. This water well had steel casing connected to a steel pipe. Diameter of this water well was 8 inches. Water was retrieved from the Edwards Aquifer at a depth of 580 feet to 612 feet by a submersible electric motor. The well usually went 600 feet deep into Edwards Aquifer. A radio station called KKG559 operated by Answer Inc., a branch of Castle Communications, operated a radio tower at Spanish Oaks Trailer Park from 1967 to 1977. A transmitter operating on base frequency of 152.06 MHz was replaced in 1968. 1968 was not the first and only time their transmitter tower would be replaced. Answer, Inc. of San Antonio relocated their radio facilities to the northeast corner of North Main Street & East Myrtle Street and 411 East Durango Boulevard in 1977. KKG559 relocated to a new site with a different frequency antenna operating system at 411 East Durango Boulevard in 1977. This antenna system was operating on 454.250 MHz. Spanish Oaks Trailer Park had sold their property to HOST RESTAURANTS, INC. in 1993. A restaurant on the property owned by HOST RESTAURANTS, INC during that time. HOST RESTAURANTS, INC sold the property to PRIME SUCCESSIONS OF TX, INC in 1993.(Ref: Bexar County Land Deeds, Volume 5772, Page 22)

A mortuary and funeral home called Dellcrest Funeral Home was built on the former site of Spanish Oaks Trailer Park in 2005. Dellcrest Funeral Home and MPII INC currently own the property and is doing business as Oak Hill Mortuary. MPII INC has owned the property for at least 15 years since 2005.
