Schuermeyer Park is one of San Antonio’s historic parks which was well remembered and highly regarded by residents. Many San Antonio citizens held this park in with such high regards and have fond memories of this park. Schuermeyer Park was also known as Schuermeyer and Exposition Park.

Schuermeyer Park first opened in 1905 and was encompassed by Story Lane and South Presa Street. The park was essentially a large beer garden which served German food, provided occasional concerts, and showcased vaudeville theatre performances. Schuermeyer Park was expanded to 5 times its former size and turned into a large amusement park called “Exposition Park” in 1921. Public transportation was provided by street care. Exposition Park was compromised of 15-20 buildings which offered a variety of amusements such as a roller coaster, shooting gallery, pool hall, and dance hall.
