An overview of Bottlecap Cave in Austin, Texas explained.

Bottlecap Cave is one of the lesser known caves of Austin, Texas which a few climbers, explorers, and spelunkers know about. This news article will explain what Bottlecap Cave is.

The location of Bottlecap Cave is located off of River Place and FM 2222 in Northwest Austin (NW Austin) in an undeveloped part of the Austin Colorado River green belt. (Ref: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/114028562/bottlecap-austin)

Bottlecap Cave is a small cave which is actually a small crag located behind an insurance office and Scott Felder Homes Design Center. Bottlecap Cave is located around the right side of the building and wraps counter-clockwise around the back of the building. Climbing into this cave is easy as this cave/crag is easily accessible. However there is another drop leading towards a downward direction which is way less sketchy. (Ref: https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/united-states/texas/austin/area/2056516848)

Bottlecap Cave was originally called and referred to as “Bottle so Cave” during the late 2010s. The name changed from 'Bottle so Cave' to 'Bottlecap Cave' during the year 2018. (Ref: https://www.thecrag.com/event/2056517253)

Not too many people know this but Bottlecap Cave is surrounded by large limestone boulders. There are many decent boulder routes which lead to Bottlecap Cave. These boulders make a good maze for climbers, explorers, and spelunkers to climb through. Bottlecap Cave is located about 100 feet away from another cave called Tora Bora Cave.

Bottlecap Cave is located behind 6414 River Place Boulevard #100, Austin, Texas, US 78730.
