History of Waco Senior High School in Waco, Texas explained.

Waco Senior High School was established as a senior high school by Waco Public Schools (Waco ISD) sometime around 1925. The school building was 3 stories in height and had a basement below ground. E. T. Genheimer was the principal of Waco Senior High School.

First assembly of the year was held at Waco senior high school Thursday morning, with Principal E. T. Genheimer addressing the boys’ assembly in the gymnasium, and Miss Annie Forsgard speaking to the girls. Superintendent B B Cobb spoke briefly to both audiences. The first meeting of the Fellowship Men's club of the Central Presbyterian church will be a banquet given for the club members and their wives and friends this evening at seven o’clock. Mike H Thomas of Dallas is to be the guest of honor and speaker of the evening, and Mrs. Billie Smith will be the toastmistress.

Cobb, city school superintendent, declared yesterday in discussing the problem of caring for the alarming increase in enrollment this year. “I expect 1,600 students to be enrolled by Christmas,” he declared.]

In 1927, enrollment swelled again at the Waco Senior High School with the registration of old students and members of the faculty as new students registered in unusually large numbers. A three-story building with a basement annex was added to the Waco Senior High School building by J. S. Harrison Construction company on the date of June 6, 1929 which was during the summer of 1929. Outside masonry work was practically completed at the time with the finishing of inside plastering and the opening of hallways and doors, connecting with the main building. The annex was be ready for use by the beginning of the fall term of the 1929-1930 school year. The three-story building with a basement annex was completed at a cost of $150,000 in expenditures. A 1937 news article from the Waco Tribune-Heraldshowed only a little more than 4% percent of the students who graduated Waco Senior High School received any kind of guidance or counsel on employment, college or any further education in their future life.
