The house at 431 Seward Street in Juneau, Alaska was originally built as a single family residence and townhouse somewhere around the year 1800. The description of this house is as follows: The 1½ half story structure has a pitched roof with a front gable and a concrete foundation, sided with vertical wood siding. It features a small centered gable roofed enclosed entry porch with a gable pediment and a centered double hung window in the front gable. Joseph F. Kaher purchased the house at 431 Seward Street in 1917. That is when this particular house became known as the Kaher House III (Kaher House). During his years in Juneau, he acquired a great deal of rental property including house at 431 Seward Street. In 1938, the house was remodeled into an amateur radio station called K7PNV by a man named William C. Shaw. William C. Shaw was the announcer and radio operator responsible for running K7PNV. He owned this family residence and townhouse during the late 1930s. The single story house had the perfect setting for an amateur radio station. There was acoustics and reduced treble due to size. William C. Shaw changed the format of his amateur radio station from K7PNV to K7FNV in the winter of 1938 before shutting down in early 1939. The reason(s) as to why William C.
