Mixerr Album Reviews #127

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Malik-Bo - Brootikus. This album was released on cassette in 1997. Malik-Bo has to be one of the most slept on artists from San Diego next to The Green Eyes, Big June, Ms. Sancha, Ms. Kitty, and Black Mikey. Malik-Bo sounds like a darker version of Brotha Lynch Hung. This is album more of Jazz Rap than Hip Hop to me.

SE Ballin' is a prime example of Jazz Rap with the saxophone, Jazz bass guitar, and the drum set. It's filled with G-Funk too! Think early Onyx, Raekwon, Main Source, Dream Warriors, Native Nuttz, Killarmy, U-God, and Shyeim. Those are also prime examples of Jazz Rap. I love the Jazz horn synths and snare drums on How U Goin' Out?.
The album features artists such as Junebug Spade, Chalon, Lil Naje, Brooke Style, Silhouette, and Prophet Sativa.

I rate this album, Brootikus, 5/5*****!!
