NHB - On The Gangster Tip album review

On The Gangster Tip was released on MDM Records in 1993 from Detroit, Michigan. Along with MDI Records of course. This cassette was a prime example of gangsta rap that was coming out of Detroit in the 1990s. NHB is very similar to Jack Frost, Wes Chill, Big Herk, Blade Icewood, EVOL, Dice, Boss, King Gordy, Street Lord Juan, Black Milk, Danny Brown, Baby Yo, and Bombshell.

NHB (Niggaz Handlin' Business) was on the same label as Mad Deep & Mental. NHB is composed of the Harrison Brothers who are Omar "Romieoh" Harrison, Ed Harrison, and John Harrison. At first, NHB was just Omar "Romieoh" Harrison and Ed Harrison. The Harrison Brothers were looked up by locals of Detroit as a crime organization. NHB was a local neighborhood group before they became a rap group. Members that later joined NHB were O-Bra, Wood, C-Train, and Los Down.

Pretty Boy Chill was a member of NHB back in the 90s too. Pretty Boy Chill was known in the underground circuit of music in Detroit at one time. Pretty Boy Chill is known as Will Robinson. He made himself a name in the Detroit rap scene by being on many various Detroit rappers albums. Even then, not much was known about him.

DJ Head was a one-time member of NHB as well except he wasn't really looked at or regarded as a member of the NHB crew. Legendary Electronic DJ named DJ Head who's an icon in the Detroit music scene lends a hand towards production on this album.

Guests artists who make appearances are Pretty Boy Chill, Short Mama,, Big Dog, Kado Rayvens, O-Bra, Wood, C-Train, Los Down, and Ronrica Cudgel.

Beta Him Than Me was written by Omar "Romieoh" Harrison. In other words, Beta Him Than Me is a Romieoh solo.
Samples from the 1981 Scarface movie are played at the very beginning of Beta Him Than Me. So you know shit's about to get deep! We in some real boomin' gangsta ass shit! We in real deep! A hectic confrontation occurs between 3 people.

Anyway… gun shots proceed as we are 13 seconds in the track called Beta Him Than Me.
Romieoh is similar to a mobster when he drops niggas to their knees. Romieoh is on smooth ass nigga that will kill ya. Romieoh and NHB ran into some niggas that they just had to drop. These niggas said the wrong thing in the wrong location setting. Why the hell did they have to do that? They fucked up so Romieoh had to retrieve his gat. Now all you heard was magazine rounds from the AK. 2 clips in the ground. Romieoh is withdrawing from the scene. Romieoh has no regrets for his actions whatsoever. He didn't chill. He didn't live.

Romieoh is seen next hanging at the mall in his fresh ass Mercedes Benz with his trunk full of moolah and plenty of ends. Next Romieoh looks in the rearview mirror to see the goddam motherfucking police. Now Romieoh retreats to the right-hand side of the road to grab his 9". Now the police are going to perform a search on his vehicle for any contraband. The police officer walked up but Romieoh didn't choke. You know his ass got smoked like some barbecue.

Police are now after him for his criminal behavior. Romieoh would rather have an AK on him for protection. Romieoh has to make a move real fast swiftly. Romieoh can get away easily and swiftly due to the lack of police presence in Detroit. If you live in the Big D like Romieoh, then you know what roads to take and what shortcuts to glide through. The city of Detroit is not known to be a speed trap either thus making easier for Romieoh to get away from the police and avoid getting arrested. In 1993, Romieoh was a juvenile who was looking for a getaway from the life of poverty.

Back to the scene. Romieoh has to make the cut clean. Now Romieoh drops by Evergreen Avenue to get limousine. It went smooth. Girls rushed the limousine looking for Romieoh. Romieoh is back to livin' large hangin' on the boulevard. It always seems that the boys in blue are on Romieoh's trail because he sells and distributes crack cocaine. Police want to catch Romieoh in the act of course. Not because Romieoh wears fly expensive clothing of course. Romieoh never lets a sucker cold sweat him especially if he's hangin' with Niggaz Handlin' Business. Romieoh is quick to pull a gat on any punk ass sucka as Romieoh would unload the clip given any situation shit hits the fan like Clint Eastwood. And from there Romieoh continues to live his lifestyle.

The title track of On The Gangster Tip begins with yet another classic Scarface movie sample. On The Gangster Tip samples So Ruff, So Tuff by Roger Troutman. Beatboxing, breakbeats, vinyl scratches, and samples are clever and great.

Ed Harrison and Romieoh are 2 brothers being treated like kings. They own the bank so they don't need dough. Can afford a glock but can't afford gat? Talk about financial problems. They get more dope and narcotics than a fat rat. NHB only want the best girls.
Some people can't stand Romieoh because he's all that due to the lifestyle he's living.

Pimp Mentality starts off with 2 females arguing over Romieoh. Too many bitches wanna fuck Romieoh and don't know the flavor. In his neighborhood currency has no boundaries on age limit regarding legal consent. And from there Romieoh continues to live his lifestyle. The bass knocks harder than a motherfucka! Short Mama and Miss Bitch are the featured artists.

We Can Get Freaky is the same thing as Pimp Mentality. We Can Get Freaky samples DJ Snake - Arcade of Bass. Short Mama is the female featured on this track. She's nearly all over this tape.
I Luv You Moms is dedicated to their mother Edith Ann Harrison and Grandmother. That is the last track on this cassette.

Too bad NHB didn't release a second album as planned. The reasons why NHB didn't release a second album is because the members of NHB got caught up with legal issues with related drama and because they did not have financial backing to record another album. Not enough money was recuperated. They did not have the means to release another album. That is common with many Michigan musicians and artists in general too. Because they were living the gangster lifestyle that's somewhat mandated if you want to survive and live in Detroit, Michigan, many members of NHB got locked up along the way. Most of On The Gangster Tip is hardcore gangsta rap and hardcore sex rap.

Evidently, the On The Gangster Tip cassette album is highly sought after on the online market of trade going from $100 to $500 dollars! The On The Gangster Tip album is the most overlooked Detroit rap album from 1993 along with Wes Chill's Smooth But Deadly.

Pork - Under The Influence album review

Pork - Under The Influence album released on Acropolis Records in 1997. Pork was known as Kyle Adams from Pasco, Washington, US near Seattle. Although Pork is not very similar to Sir Mix-A-Lot and Kid Sensation, Pork is similar to Wojack, Syko, Red Head Steve, Sweet P, and Crafty. Pork had somewhat made a name for himself in the Seattown music scene. The rapper Pork was very well known in Pasco.

Under The Influence album has that pure West Coast gangsta rap funk sound. Most of this overlooked masterpiece compromises of hardcore gangsta rap and sexual suggestive themes. Some of it is freestyle rap. Pork keeps it both lyrical and gangsta at the same time. Most of this album is what playas be listenin' to. Some of these tunes are good to play at nighttime.

The title track of this album is the best track! Heavy hitting bass notes over guitar strings loop into this track out loudly. The bass is very deep. Think deep bass. The producer added a bit of auto-was to add into the effect of the deep bass which from a production aspect fits in quite well. Auto-wah with deep bass is a superb choice. The producer did a great job for this track. Still, Pork keeps it very gangsta.

Dollar Focus is a really sexy song. Yet it is gangsta at the same time. Dollar Focus is both about crime and sex. The track Dollar Focus proves to be very powerful lyrically. This should have been a single and a music video.

Napalm - Tha Last Recital album review

[Tha Last Recital will be Daddy Madd's last album ever!]
A wide array of obscure artists have been chosen to be on Napalm's last album. Such as Young Bleed, Lil Flip, Rick Rozay, Sina Luv, Rell, Big Herk, MC Shy D and more!

Can't Nobody In Da Nasty Do It Like Me showcases how Napalm stands out as a local rapper in Saginaw, Michigan. This onez is dedicated to the haters.
Can't Nobody in da Nasty Do It Like Him" is this hardcore diss song taking shots at 3 local rappers in particular. Jealousy and haterism can lead up to a lot of beef and pure hatred while living in the small spread out city of Saginaw, Michigan.

Can't nobody do it (hustle) like Napalm in Saginaw, Michigan. Daddy Madd was the first rapper in Saginaw to get receptive recognition for being from Detroit. Not that many people from Detroit live in Saginaw. Can't nobody do what Napalm does and continue to be just a local artist. Napalm has been doing music in Saginaw with Pleasure Sparks since 1993 back when he was known as Daddy Madd. (This back in the days of cassette tapes.) Daddy Madd has slanged and sold his music all over the streets of Saginaw while he was hustling. Not only has he been selling music in Saginaw, but he has sold his music all over Michigan State while getting love in cities such as Detroit, Flint, Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Beecher, Pontiac, and Kalamazoo! Daddy Madd got love down here in Texas! Even as far as Japan!

What other rappers from Saginaw do you know about other than Mack Tha Jacka, Dangerous D, Ashtray, Bone Skanless, Young Kee, and Young D get international recognition? Not even Madame Dane or Skeem have gotten that far! Ashtray has due to his activity in the music scene and the Internet. So did AG.

Gettin' Money is all about getting that money! What more appropriate rapper to obtain a guest feature other than Lil Flip? That's a perfect artist element for this track. Other than that, Napalm shows us all how he gets money. You got to have heart to have money because when you're broke ain't a dam thang funny. Napalm has been doing this since 1993 back when he was known as Daddy Madd as I had stated earlier.

Niggaz is another track aimed at the haters. Niggaz are trying to cock block Napalm from having his fame and reputation. Now he's ready to mash out these fake ass haters. Platinum artist Young Bleed makes an appearance and lashes out some critical damage on these haters!

The YBI tribute track is dedicated to Young Boys Incorporated member Kurt McGurk. As YBI's fortunes soared, so did the murder rate.

Andy Wade - Fix It Till It's Broken album review

Andy Wade is on the prowl with the song Prowl! Prowl seems to be a rough and tough hard rock song. Prowl seems to be a match to Alice Cooper. The sound is a bit unbalanced in my headphones, but I'll that slide since not everything's perfect in life. The song Prowl all into itself is extremely very much hard rock. The organ riffs fit in quite perfectly with this song.

The song Brand New proves how Andy Wade's new 2015 composition album Fix It Till It's Broken is brand new itself.

Auto-wah feature being used in Little Girl gives a trippy acid fusion rock meets electronic rock sub-genre feeling all unto this compositional song. Andy Wade, himself, does play an intense rock guitar with mean loud roaring sounds booming from the amplifier. The ensemble and ambience from the percussion is very conducted and mastered while being played in the song. Little Girl is the best composition song off of Andy Wade's new 2015 album Fix It Till It's Broken. To simply put it, Little Girl is a highlight track off Fix It Till It's Broken.

The song of Till Tonight is quite different from every other compositional song on Fix It Till It's Broken. The mood of Till Tonight is happy and upbeat. Similarly to upbeat Jazz and swing music. Till Tonight has the sound of United States West Coast rock music.
Who We Were is about meeting someone  you love that you feel you have love in another life.Fire in me is both similar to British blues and American blues.

Most of this compositional album is rock meets pop and electronic. The rock music genre on this album meets Folk music too.

Selby Hood - Patience album review

This album was released on the Black Sunshine Entertainment record label back in 1995. Patience is a hood classic album filled with melodic tunes laced gangsta rap verses with funky drum beats.

Selby Hood was a local gangsta rap group that originated from the former Selby Elementary School located in the Northside of Flint, Michigan in 1991 which consisted of six dudes named Gargamel (Melvin Nappier), Cutt (Curtis Nappier), Mike Jarrett, Macy Dre (Broomstic), Cheese, and D along with more members from Selby Hood. Selby Hood is located on the Westside of Flint, Michigan.

Selby Hood had changed their name from Selby Hood Productions on their previous debut album Get Yo Booty Licked from 1992 to Selby Hood in 1995 on their sophomore album Patience in order to modernize with the changes in musical style. That album was filled with booty rap and sex rap filled with symbols of sexism along with the baby mama drama. Selby Hood had mimicked the style and culture of Miami bass for the Get Yo Booty Licked album.

Everyone in Selby Hood and from Selby Hood was bumpin' this cassette tape back in the mid 90s! Whether it be in traffic at the stoplights, in the park, living room, inside the dining hall, or just in the bedroom. Many rappers and rap groups were trying to mimic the acid rap sound of Esham, Natas, TNT, Hasan The Sinister, Dice, Snypaz, Bone Skanless, and The Dayton Family.

Gargamel needs a job in order to be father his child but his life is still a drag because his life is caught in a freestyle due to his criminal lifestyle, but meanwhile Gargamel blazes up a joint up for the day and hope he exceeds and excels before he ends up in a jail cell during a sentence of incarceration. But Gargamel makes bail and gives his homies a call. He says "Fuck all ya'll that's waiting on my downfall!".

He knows somehow things will never change. The price on the narcotic drug called cocaine now has a bigger name for itself since it's inception from being introduced to the United States by the CIA. He keeps focusing on his goal. That's his aim. So open your eyes and never try to hide your pride. It's 95 and it's all about stayin' alive henceforth the song title so on.

This song needs a 2015 remake. It's still relevant today. Stayin' Alive and the rest of the Patience album needs to be remastered.

Gettin' Low is the first posse cut at very end of Stress side of the Patience cassette. The Gettin' Low track starts off with distorted thunder and depressing piano notes playing in the background. A bird chirps. Low pitch vocals are added into the haunting soundclips of this erroneous track. However high quality sound kicks in real quick. Gettin' Low is very similar to Esham with his acid rap style.

Getting low as hell of a case of bud and 5 Rickey Roo's. Fire up the Freaky Live cassette. (Freaky Live is Flint's most wack group next to Took-N-Bone, and Raw Deal.) Dogs from Selby Hood will make a loc want to get ooted. No pills or angel dust. Getting burned up with red eyes. Board the Z-Train to take a low ride with niggaz with big triggaz. Weapons are involved on this posse cut despite the typical drug references. It's no clean effort for the radio.

The whole track is quite eerie and brooding similar to Esham with his acid rap style. A handful of rappers from Flint were copying the acid rap sound before Jake The Flake came out with Flint Thugs Compilation in 1998.

Pain starts off the Depressed side of the Patience cassette. Pain is all about feeling the stress and depression of dealing with pain. The mood of this particular track is frankly quite depressing. The Native American Indian flute music really give Pain a smooth mellow chilling feel to the album to the dark brooding mood album. Step all over this shit.

Listen to the rhythm of the rain. Can you feel Cutt and Gargamel's pain? On Rain I can feel they pain. I can relate to this track as my life drudges on slowly while combating stress, high anxiety disorder, dealing with the insanity in the world, and while dealing with unemployment. When it rains, it does pour. Black Hippiz must require it to rain everyday. So pass the nigga with the big bag o'light. Let me hit it after you. I thought you bitches knew that Broomstic can't be faded. Broomstic really went off flowed very good on this rap track. Cutt and Gargamel did too.

Life starts off the Stress side of the Patience cassette. Life is all about the experiences and situations that members of Selby Hood face everyday on a daily basis. Life is often filled with stress and depression. Sometimes aggression. Life is filled with emotional rain. No matter what the downfalls are in life we must keep uprising.

Patience is the title track for this album. Patience is about patience of course. In life we must learn to have patience. That is how we get stressed. Patience is a virtue we must have as humans. We deal with patience on a daily basis.

I Wanna Fuck is about sex of course. I Wanna Fuck is the successor track to Get Yo Booty Licked from the Selby Hood album entitled Get Yo Booty Licked released back in 1992. The Selby Hood Posse is horny as fuck and want to find some chicks to have sex with.

Flint Niggaz is the second posse cut at very end of Stress of the Patience cassette. 5 funky motherfuckers are gonna flow for ya'll. We got The Living Dead, Bugsy, Pistol Whip, Nickel Bag, Stikxz, and Gargamel at the very end. They explain growing up in the  Selby neighborhood in Flint, Michigan wasn't easy. Growing up isn't easy. Tales of dope sales are told. Not to mention the gritty raunchy sexual references. Getting out of the ghetto and escaping poverty is sort of the main theme for this posse cut. Gargamel ends this cut by saying "Flint niggaz are the wrong ones to fuck with." That's Gargamel's warning to us.

Moonlightin' is the get high track of the album. So pass the nigga with the big bag o'light. Let me hit it after you. I thought you bitches knew that Broomstic can't be faded. Moonlightin' is all about getting high and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Despite the low quality productions and low quality sound of the Patience album, the listening experience for this album was quite enjoyable. 95% of the albums that come out today don't even come close to holding a candle to the Patience album. That's real talk!

This Selby Hood shit is quite eerie brooding and similar to Esham with his acid rap style that is not very common. A handful of rappers from Flint were copying the acid rap sound before Jake The Flake came out with Flint Thugs Compilation in 1998. Selby Hood is an example of that grimey acid rap.

Danny Brown - Old album review

Danny Brown has been making quite a buzz in the music scene since his debut performance at SXSW in 2014. His performance at SXSW was off the hook! With all the news songs from the slammin' swac album Old!

Danny Brown reintroduces himself on the new album to his newer audience on 'The Return' with music industry heavyweight Freddie Gibbs as the featured artist. Freddie Gibbs does a good superb job as a rapper spitting verses and bars. Within the heavy lyricism of course.

Way Up Here featuring Top Dawg Entertainment underground rapper Ab-Soul is ideal material for single material. Way Up Here featuring Ab-Soul should have been a single because younger artists from the 2000s generation and 2010s generation prove to be top selling charting artists as BillBoard records and reports the statistics of album sales in their magazines and online.

Most of the tracks on this album has references to drugs or drug paraphernalia on tracks such as Wonderbread, 25 Bucks, Clean Up, Dope Song, Dip, Smokin' & Drinkin', Kush Coma. Most of the tracks are fixated on hocus pocus drugs such as weed and kush.Wonderbread proved to me to be a choice cut ideal material for single material.

5/5*****!!
