Da Youngsta’s - Somethin 4 Da Youngsta's album review
Not too similar to Kris Kross is Philadelphia trio Da Youngsta’s, however Da Youngsta’s have similar comparisons to Onyx, Lords of the Underground, Quo, Nas, and Mobb Deep. While the album met the bar for 90s production standards with catchy percussion, shortened jazz samples, funky basslines, and hard East Coast boom bap beats, their debut effort was overshadowed by other kiddie rap groups such as Kris Kross, Da Funky Bunch, Illegal, and Quo. All of the material is age appropriate for children with the subjects being about childhood, cartoons, school, partying, dancing, and bullying.
Charisma and talent are what lead to hip hop heads buying this album despite the Da Youngsta's being aimed for the mainstream. This is early-90s hip hop at its finest.

Danny Brown - XXX album review
When you think of the Danny Brown - XXX album cover artwork for graphic design, you will automatically think about Andy Warhol's banana painting for the album cover artwork for The Velvet Underground album called The Velvet Underground & Nico. XXX seems very similar to pop art in spite of the album being released for the underground music scene from back in the days.
When you think of XXX by Danny Brown, you will automatically think about the pop art in artwork from the 1960's and not the Neoclassicism of the 2000's. It's not that common you can get to see album cover artwork like on the XXX album.

Uzi Bros - People Get Funny single review
Think Electronic meets gangsta rap and old school hip hop when you listen to this single. This came out in 1990.
The first song is People Get Funny (When It Comes To Money).
The message in this song is still very relevant and true to this day. People do get funny when it comes to money. Even your best friend will get funny over money. Even your own mother will get funny over money. This songs message can be applied to the politicians of today. This song is still very relevant today. The drum beats are absolutely nuts!
When you listen to Gangster Grip, think Electronic meets gangsta rap and old school hip hop when you listen to this song. It’s gangster grip on the gangster tip when you listen to this song. Although it’s not that great, Gangster Grip is a typical old school hip hop track. Gangster Grip is a lot longer than (When It Comes To Money).

Triple Cobra - Live Fast & Die Beautiful album review
This album was released on vinyl in 2006 on Livewire Records. Livewire Records from Austin, Texas that is. Triple Cobra is a glam rock band from San Francisco.
Everything about the band, Triple Cobra, is abstract. The front album cover artwork, graphics design, the wardrobe outfits, and the fact that Live Fast & Die Beautiful came on a pink colored vinyl which is something you don’t often ever see. The sub-genre sounds however are hard rock blended on top of glam rock. Think hard rock meets glam rock. Glam rock meets hard rock. (Think hard rock meets glam rock. Glam rock meets hard rock.)
The album Live Fast & Die Beautiful offers a wide array/variety of a strong rhythm selection and great vocal arrangements with a steady groove. The other vocals are solid. On this album, Triple Cobra destroyed modern rock and roll! They were absolutely fantastic!
Vocals on the J-Hole track sound very similar to British glam rock such as Def Leppard. J-Hole is somewhat similar to Kids of the K-Hole. J-Hole is somewhat similar to going through a "hole" into another reality.
Trash sticks of with a fast rockin’ snazzy fast paced short 6 second drum solo. That’s when the guitars kick in.
Is your mouth dirty like your mind? When your in front of good company? Take pills. Leave your world behind. Leave your worries behind. It’s only trash. We know your naughty. It’s plain to see I know you love. It’s only trash. Various items and objects are mentioned throughout in the song.
Little Black Heart is a lo-fi hard rock composition song. For some reason of oddity, at the introduction an uplifting, rumbling, distorted guitar note is playing out the right speaker instead of both speakers making it a mono-speaker track.

Mike Hale - Lives Like Mine album review
Mike Hale - Lives Like Mine was released on Suburban Home Records out of Germany. This album was released in 2013 on CD and vinyl.
The first track is the title track (Lives Like Mine). What’s left to say when you no longer become necessary? That’s when your world comes caving in. Hate doesn’t make the night less colder when there is evil afoot. The more evil you become the more you soul starts to crumble inside. Just what are you contemplating? You see failure in your eyes from the sounds of your own foolish disguise.
Indigo Blues is a sad Heartbreak Hotel love song. Our path has broken so now must go our seperate ways. Your heart longs for things I didn’t say. Like I was wrong. We won’t be fine honestly. These words will echo today. All love is lost and astray.
Eager To Die is just one of those heartbreaking suicidal songs similar to those sorrowing compositions written by blues songwriter Tom Waits. The composition Eager To Die has the feels only way deeper than the Monday Morning Blues. Other than that, this track is so eery. Not to mention brooding. If you loved and lost like I have, then you know about the pain inside. You’ll know about the painful feeling inside.
Red Tide is a fucked up delusional song. Losing Ground is about losing touch with reality. How To Walk Away is an instrumental track.
The album cover and artwork design has artistic elements of abstract art, mosaic art, stained glass art, surrealism, sepia, and monochrome. The mosaic art is very similar in contrast to the memorial works you see at churches and government institutions.

Outdates - Make Way EP review
Make Way was a demo by the Holyoke, Massachusetts band called Outdates on SchlitZtonezZ and Geffen. Only 10 copies were put out on cassette only in 2010. The album cover is in black and white while the cassette itself is spray-painted. Something about "plugz" is written on the back of the cassette. (Apparently the band has an unhealthy obsession/fetish about plugs.)
Each song is nearly 1:30 long and there are only 6 songs, which makes an EP. The sound quality is low quality because this is a demo tape after all. So don't be too upset. The lyrics blend into each other somehow. The whole demo cassette sound like it was recorded for mono speakers rather than the usual standard speakers like most albums are. But that’s how bad the whole cassette is.
Go Now is about hitting the streets and doing crime. The night's still young and it's not time for bedtime. Taking Sides is about not conforming with society's standards. Trash your standards. After Two is about late night sex. Don't Turn Out is about the lights in the street turning out. Can't Motivate is about lack of motivation. Sick of Talkin' is a lame track.

Lady - Good Lovin' Remix EP review
Good Lovin' Remix EP by the band Lady came out on vinyl in 2015 on Truth & Soul Records.
On this record, Nicole Wray showcases and experiments with her Dance/Electronica side as well as her Reggae side. I am loving the new school acid tracks and acid dubs! The Oh No remix was very different. Terri Walker have much of an appearance on this song as the others. DJ Spinna did a good job on the first part of this album. Ticklah songs were very reggae dancehall.
Sweet Lady is a dedication song to their mothers. Sweet Lady is similar to an upbeat positive 60s Motown song. There is a lot of positivity in this song. Their mothers are really there for them in the end when no one has their back. To me and most Lady fans, Sweet Lady was an inspirational uplifting dedication towards their mothers type of song.
Get Ready is a soulful bouncy tune. Get Ready was the second single off the album. This song has a very 60s sound.

Mad Deep & Mental - DA EP EP review
DA EP was released on vinyl on MDM Records in Detroit.
Mad Deep & Mental is a Hip Hop/Rap group of two dudes named Nostra and Young Kami. Mad Deep & Mental is one dope ass underrated Hip Hop/Rap group comin' from the Big D! MDM Records roster was Mad Deep & Mental, Papa Joe, D-Bone, and NHB (Niggaz Handlin' Business).
MDM Records and Mad Deep & Mental started in Detroit in 1993. To this day, Mad Deep & Mental still perform at live shows on the Eastside of Detroit often. When you listen to Mad Deep & Mental, just think old school hip hop meets gangsta rap and acid rap with added bass & drums.
Young Kami is living like a hermit in this world on the dark moody track called Mental Problems. Mental Problems is one sick dark, brooding dope ass track! The heavy pounding notes of the super heavy basslines really give in to the element of darkness that this track really has. Mental Problems is about dealing with the stress, anxiety, anger, and the just frustration of having mental problems hence the name.
The thick, super heavy bassline of Mental Problems will remind you The Unforgiven track by X-Raided on his 1999 album The Unforgiven he recorded from behind prison bars at Salinas Valley State Prison in California. Of course the sample used is Cebu by The Commodores. To put it basically, Mental Problems sounds very similar to The Unforgiven track by X-Raided.
The redid remix of Steady Blaze is super dope madd ill! Steady Blaze is a song to blaze up a smoke to and light up another doobie. It's all about smoking that purple kush. Steady Blaze is a 420 song. So please don't get this shit all twisted! Okay? The remix of Steady Blaze is super dope!
Steady Blaze samples Cebu by The Commodores. Steady Blaze is also a lyrical freestyle filled with classic rap. The DJ scratches and breakbeats are super dope! Sick!
Champagne, Caviar & Bubble Bath is about the finer things in life. Such as the riches in life. Mad Deep & Mental idolize the bling-bling often glamourized in gangsta rap. Mad Deep & Mental are really desperate! So they start to strive for the finer things in life on Champagne, Caviar & Bubble Bath. Champagne, Caviar & Bubble Bath was the Detroit Anthem at one time! Back in the 1990s rap era.
Mad Deep & Mental were so underrated and overlooked back in the days! It's too bad they never got the shine that they truly had deserved. DA EP was the precursor the full album that came out on cassette after this vinyl.

ZOX - Take Me Home album.
Take Me Home is an album by Rhode Island based rock group Zox that was released in 2003 on Zox Music.
This ZOX album somehow wasn’t that good as some people decided. Some of the songs end far too suddenly while others platter out too long as some have put it. Most music critics such as Allmusic have desensitized the listener away from listening to this particular ZOX album even if Take Me Home was well-favored album by hardcore ZOX fans or anyone interested in the Ska sound.
Canon is a tribute/cover song of Pachelbel's Canon which is recast simply as “Canon” right here that lingers into nearly six minutes. The Canon tribute/cover song is quite lyrically impressively though. The climate offers a scenic view. This tribute was a good idea.
Rain on Me is a sad ballad of feels and honesty that is quite similar to Homebody. The composition track Rain on Me is quite sad. Rain on Me is quite an intelligent ballad.

Moon Ra - Lunacy album review
When you listen to Lunacy, you will automatically think about that alternative trip hop sound which is quite similar to DJ Shadow or Orko Eloheim. The album Lunacy is out of this world! It's quite futuristic for its time period that it was released in. Lunacy is an amazing extraordinary virtuoso masterpiece album.
Lightbeams is very similar to an instrumental track that MF Doom would rap on. In fact, it's quite similar to an MF Doom instrumental track. The rapping style and technique is comparatively similar to MF Doom, Paris, and Method Man. The electronic trip hop sound is present and prevalent in this particular track. It's totally out of this world!
Moon Ra discusses his purpose in Hip Hop and Rap on the track Ramanism. His job and purpose is to compose music as a means of communication to the people on the planet Earth. Music can be used a tool of communication. Communication is inside of music if you listen to it closely. Moon Ra compares himself to the likes of John Lennon, BB King, Bob Marley, and Johnny Cash. Moon Ra really displays his purpose and focus on Ramanism.
Inturluna is a hodgepodge of electronic music, hip hop, instrumentals, spoken work, and other sampling used as well. Inturluna is basically an interlude. A lunar (moon) version of an interlude. Voices of various peoples can be heard throughout the minute and a half interlude.
My Name is Moon Ra is similar in terms of production the same as DJ Spooky musical production. The sound on this track is similar to the DJ Spooky sound. My Name is Moon Ra uses a hodgepodge of breakbeats, loops, vinyl scratches, electronic music, hip hop, rock, power punk, and samples.
Moon Ra Rilla is a tribute to J Dilla and Madlib. In fact, the production and instrumentals are similar to production orchestrated by J Dilla and Madlib. Warrior is the long track on the Lunacy album. Warrior is dedicated to all the warriors and soldiers out there.
To sum it all up… The album Lunacy is out of this world! It's quite futuristic for its time period that it was released in. Lunacy is an amazing extraordinary virtuoso masterpiece album.

Robert Mirabal - Taos Tales album review
Taos Tales was released on Silverwave Inc. from Boulder, Colorado in 1999.
Native American Indian musician/storyteller Robert Mirabal from Taos, New Mexico releases a folk album filled with Native American Indian tales of the past with some foreshadowing the future. The words in song, chant, and music are spoken in his Tiwa language. Stories from the land of Pueblos better known as Taos, New Mexico are filled with exciting, haunting, and spirited tales. The musical setting is filled with a powerful ensemble of powerful percussion, cellos, folk guitars, and Native flute.
Painted Caves tell us spirited stories of the past of Native American Indian culture. Particularly Taos and Pueblo culture in this coming case. The tales inside Painted Caves could be haunted. The ancient Anasazi petroglyph makers and painters told their stories through their own art. Stories of legends and prophecies are told in this folklore.
Ee-You-Oo was a tribal song that was handed down from person to person. Ee-You-Oo is a Spanish melody with a flamenco gypsy flair added with English cellos. However it has more of a Spanish flavor to it.
Acid Rain Dance is a rain dance song hence the title. All Pueblo cultures have a form of dance to rain. Every tribe inside of Native American Indian culture has some form of rain dance. Heavy hitting powerful percussion is used in Acid Rain Dance. This song is a nuclear prophecy as described by Robert Mirabal himself.
The Flute Song is the best flute song on the album. The Flute Song is dedicated to all hardcore Robert Mirabal fans. The Flute Song is a Native American Indian flute song based off on Native American Indian culture. Particularly Taos and Pueblo culture in this coming case. Also, Flute Song is a tribal song..

Tha Brotha Chilly T self-titled album review
This album was released on cassette only in 1991 on Boom Records from Jersey City, New Jersey. This album is a seriously rare local tape from Saginaw, Michigan that came with no barcode which was tape only. This album was his first debut.
On My Game Is Deep, Tha Brotha Chilly T explains how deep his game is. His game runs deep. His game runs deeper and deeper as he goes detail explaining as to how deep his game goes. My Game Is Deep is a grimey gritty East Coast sounding rap track with heavy pultruding basslines. This track is the dopest on the entire album! My Game Is Deep samples the 70s soul track Soul Searchin’.
Real Thang is about how real Tha Brotha Chilly T explains. Tha Brotha Chilly T comes hard as a jail cell on this one. Tha Brotha Chilly T explains R.E.A.L. is Real Easy Ass Living as if it were a lifestyle. Chilly T called out weak ass MCs on their bluff. MC’s be clown with nothing real to say about. To make the track even mad doper and harder, Real Thang samples BWP - Wanted. Tha Brotha Chilly T went hard in 1992.
Bending Cornas is about how Tha Brotha Chilly T is Bending Cornas in his jeep. He heads up to the spot. What does he see? Audi’s, Benz, Jeeps, and Cadillacs. The bass is pounding heavily from the sub-woofers. Tha Brotha Chilly T gets out to spit a little game to everyone. All of a sudden, police show up. It’s time to leave the spot. Tha Brotha Chilly T sends out flyers to promote for his upcoming show. Tha Brotha Chilly T is just “Bendin Cornas” in his jeep. Bending Cornas is funky track with heavy percussion over a hodgepodge of various samples and breakbeats.
The percussion is super tight on Liven Low! So are the vinyl scratches. Back in the days, Tha Brotha Chilly T was a young broke man clocking dope and selling narcotics. Friends, money, and enemies were made in the process of him being a narcotics distributor. There were casualties. Tha Brotha Chilly T had his jeep parked around the corner in case the spot got hot with law enforcement. Ain’t no time to catch a case or charges. The 5-0 are on his case but Tha Brotha Chilly T is not having that. Now we are back on the streets. But however Tha Brotha Chilly T is eventually apprehended by police and booked in jail. After a debt to society, Tha Brotha Chilly T is eventually released into society.
Chillies Blunt is a Tha Brotha Chilly T solo track. Tha Brotha Chilly T is in the back snappin’ necks and smoking cigars. His brother is in the back. Tha Brotha Chilly T is droppin’ game on wax (or in this case cassette tape). Also, Tha Brotha Chilly T is producing. He’s in it to win it. The Brotha Chilly T teaches us there’s need to front or diss Also, The Brotha Chilly T reveals that his legal name is Todd Jones. He runs his own record label.
Blunts, Bank, and Bizness is about the world of accounting, business, and cigarette blunts. Bank is all about getting that money. All about making that GTA. In the world of accounting and finances are loan sharks along with shady bad business practices. Of course an accounting job is no easy task.
Tha Brotha Chilly T went hard from 1990 to 1993. No one could fuck with him on Boom Records (Boom! Records)! The Brotha Chilly T was so underrated in his time! We need more brothers like him in the watered down flourished, cookie cutter rap game right now.

Tha Brotha Chilly T & The Boom Squad - Chillies Blunt album review
This album was released on cassette only in 1993 on Boom Records from Jersey City, New Jersey. Tha Brotha Chilly T was a rapper from Saginaw, Michigan in the 1990s. He released three album during the 1990s era of rap. This album is a seriously rare local tape from Saginaw, Michigan that came with no barcode which was tape only.
Tha Brotha Chilly T is from Saginaw Michigan, and His raps do have a grimey gritty feel to them. Tha Brotha Chilly T sounds like he came from the East Coast be it New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania. Well Tha Brotha Chilly T is from Saginaw, Michigan. Tha Brotha Chilly T is quite grimey coming out of Saginaw. But then again Saginaw is a grimey place. So just understand him being from there. A huge old school influence is prevalent on this cassette tape. So for those of you who will complain about the bad quality sounding shit, this album’s not for you.
The percussion is super tight on Liven Low! So are the vinyl scratches. Back in the days, Tha Brotha Chilly T was a young broke man clocking dope and selling narcotics. Friends, money, and enemies were made in the process of him being a narcotics distributor. There were casualties. Bending Cornas is funky track with heavy percussion over a hodgepodge of various samples and breakbeats.
Tha Brotha Chilly T goes straight up Reggae, mon, on Dropin’ Bombs! It’s super dope! The bass and percussion are heavy hitting. Chilly T here talks about the ‘Shotgun Theory’. So you know he’s no joke. So sucks run for cover! Dropin’ Bombs is a Reggae freestyle rap track
Where I’m From is about where Tha Brotha Chilly T is from. Tha Brotha Chilly T tells us tales about how gritty, grimey, and raw the city of Saginaw, Michigan really is. Saginaw is a city you don’t wanna fuck around in! Watch your back because there could be a robbery. Saginaw is a cold place both in temperature and mood. OG’s know how it goes. Saginaw is raw.
The samples used were climatically average at best. But what he makes up for in samples he makes up in lyrics. The intro and outro were quite annoying because they didn’t attribute to the grimey gritty theme of the album.
Tha Brotha Chilly T went hard from 1990 to 1993. No one could fuck with him on Boom Records (Boom! Records)! The Brotha Chilly T was so underrated in his time! We need more brothers like him in the watered down flourished, cookie cutter rap game right now.

Criminal Background - Blood On The Wall album review
Criminal Background - Blood On The Wall album was released in 1993 on cassette only with 6 tracks. 3 on each side. Criminal Background is White Lee (Lee Laury), Ronnie Johns (The .44 Caliber Killer), and Young Po (pronounced Pooh). Criminal Background is from King Hood/Rankin Hood (Rankin Street). Criminal Background was a rap group from Rankin Street which is located 1 city block from Dayton Street aka Dayton Avenue.
Ronnie Johns had often affiliated himself with the King Hood rap group Criminal Background from Rankin Street a block or so north of Dayton Avenue (Dayton Street). Ronnie Johns Murderer/burglar Ronnie Johns who was once a fry cook. Ronnie Johns had affiliated himself with Criminal Background members White Lee and Young Po until his arrest in 1992.
G-Move is all about that Gank Move. G-Move is about the criminal lifestyle of Criminal Background.
White Lee is paranoid of seeing the police lights flash. So White Lee calls his boy to meet him on Dayton Street to figure out what . Criminal Background is about to go on a killing spree. White Lee needs money because he’s financially struggling. In fact, they both because they’re financially struggling. Criminal Background commits a home invasion by kicking down the door which led them to breaking and entering the home. The individual packed a pistol but was shot. Upon breaking and entering into the home, Criminal Background goes into another room acquiring 10 grand ($10,000) and 1/8th a kilogram of cocaine. Raps about criminal insanity linger on.
Walking through the neighborhood, White Lee saw a sucker he just jack in a Mercedes Benz. The sucker backed off fast. Young Po starts shooting as the car drives off. He realizes he needs to leave the scene. Now we are at the dopehouse on Rankin Street. What the fuck? White Lee is surrounded by drug dealers and a female. White Lee is strapped with an uzi on his back. Female yells “It’s a jack!” White Lee is high off cocaine as he take the money and dope. White Lee spots his next suck wearing a gold chain around his neck. He wants it acquired. So White Lee kills the sucker for his gold chain.
When Young Po leaves the scene of a crime, the clips in his firearm are empty. Young Po snorts a line of cocaine. Young Po breaks and enters someone’s home committing a home invasion acquiring money and gold. We hear that Young Po is playing with a gun which he accidentally blows out someone’s brain with. Just another symptom of criminal insanity. He’s going broke in order to bank.
White Lee is on the gank move. He’s been robbing people since age 13. Ammunition for him is not a problem. He packs many guns. He’s a crazy motherfucker. White Lee is still high off cocaine.
Young Po has the mind of a lunatic. He’s putting people on the front page of newspapers in the headlines. If was he was said, then would not snort cocaine. Young Po is on the solo creep. Later Young Po waits for a cab so he can blow out the drivers brains. Later Young Po goes off to buy some product. The dealer tells him to come back in an hour. Young Po wants it all. So Young Po came back an hour later with a gat.
Blood On The Wall is a song about incarcerated Criminal Background member Ronnie Johns.
We first hear a news clip about the most dangerous man to walk the city streets of Flint, Michigan. The news reporter states that Ronnie Johns is now incarcerated and behind bars in jail awaiting trial for the murders he committed in the 1990s. The news clip was an actual news clip that was used at his trial in 1993.
A blood stain on the wall is what triggers Criminal Background to go off on a killing spree. White Lee starts off the track. He gets high off cocaine to the point where he cannot breathe. He wants money and gold. White Lee makes reference to the August 1991 murder of Lucille Bowie and Demetrius Rawls that occurred on Grand Traverse Street near 11th Street. Also White Lee made reference to the baby Ronnie Johns killed. Ronnie Johns is referred to as the “.44 cal killer”. Ronnie Johns used to rob drug dealers at dopehouses.
Reference to Steven Ray to where he was gunned down at 400 West Taylor Street is made too. Ronnie Johns gunned down Steven Ray at a house on 400 West Taylor Street during his murder spree. After that, Ronnie Johns had suddenly took out a stolen .44 caliber Ruger Redhawk from a person’s house which he burglarized earlier and demanded money. So he killed Steven Ray. Ronnie Johns had killed an infant too. He killed another victim on Grand Traverse Street.
Rise & Fall is about White Lee’s trials in the dope game with him coming up. Rise & Fall is a White Lee solo. White Lee made a killing living his life on the streets. On Rise & Fall, White Lee teaches his audience game such as never trust cops as cops are the biggest crooks, never trust a bitch with her hand in her pocketbook, never let a snitch know what you did with a gun. White Lee also teaches us to never run your mouth when, before, or after dirt is done.
White Lee contemplates how he will live his life and what will become of him. Everyone is trying to make it by getting rich. People aren’t your friends. They will get you when your back is turned. The media ostracizes White Lee as the enemy of everything going wrong in society, but White Lee doesn’t give a fuck. Nonetheless, White Lee speaks the truth. He hates the critics.
White Lee tells us more tales of the dope game. White Lee was arrested for illegal distribution of a controlled substance to the Vice Squad. He was incarcerated for 6 month and now he’s back on the streets living the life. He bought a dope black Benz and a luxury home.
Young Po used to sell dope. He’s done a few stickups too. Young Po was incarcerated for a minute too and now he’s back on the streets living the life. He is now into the rap game doing music. Young Po kicks his funky shit with that Flint funky sound. The bass sounds real good as he puts it.
Pussy Go-Getta samples the sexually suggestive love ballad Rick James - Give It To Me. Criminal Background explores sexuality with their raps on Pussy Go-Getta. Also, Criminal Background discovers their sexual side on Pussy Go-Getta. White Lee destroys most of this track. Age 12 is where White Lee and Young Po explain what went wrong at that age. They both explain how they lived their criminal lifestyle. Criminally Insane explains the lifestyle of Criminal Background.
This Criminal Background shit is quite eerie brooding and similar to Esham with his acid rap style that is not very common. A lot of rappers and groups from Flint were copying the acid rap sound before Jake The Flake came out with Flint Thugs Compilation in 1998. Criminal Background is some freaky horrorcore shit. While Criminal Background - Blood On The Wall is no rock album, rock elements are used on tracks such as Rise & Fall and Pussy Go-Getta. White Lee should have done more solo tracks on this EP.
