Cassie Fox - Come Here album review

Cassie wanted this album to touch people as that was the most important thing to her at the time of this albums recording process. This album was to connect to people in order for them to stay sane. Listening to this album might keep one maintained with their own sanity. The sounds of trance and electronic music are known to sooth your soul spiritually and mentally. The album comes with a laissez-faire attitude in a musical context. She has a 'can do' attitude. She can do it. Obviously as we can tell, she worked very hard on this album as she put her soul into it fully.

Now Cassie Fox is one of those people who don't have enough records put out to be considered memorable. She never had enough albums out in short. It was due to the likes of Tiesto and Moby that Cassie Fox was overlooked in the trance music genre. This album is an example of electronic music and trance music that was overlooked by fans and in the music industry.

Metallica - St. Anger album review

This Metallica album was in 2003, 2 years after the Napster controversy in 2001 with the illegal digital download that nearly wiped the Napster p2p file sharing internet service off the face of the Earth only to mysteriously resurface later on in the 2000s era. Ever since the Napster incident, Metallica's album sales have been declining. them. The Napster controversy took a toll on the band financially. This is where Lars Ulrich started becoming an asshole to his fans. He had every right to be after they damaged his band financially speaking but he went over his head as time went along. Band members quit Metallica because of his attitude towards the public.

By that time, Metallica had ran its course as a band despite the demands from fans to record new album including those live albums along with the rave reviews that supported them. Metallica as a band was getting sloppy and their sound wasn't as distinctive or golden as it used to be despite the St. Anger album selling millions of copies around the world with an average of 1 million sold in each continent on Earth. Just because you have a bestselling top charting album doesn't mean that the album will be necessarily great. St. Anger was an example of that.

Metallica had ran its course as a heavy metal band. The public was moving on as expected in the ever rapid fast paced music industry. New fans were too demanding, the music industry was looking for the next big thing, and hardcore fans had given up on the band.

New heavy metal fans considered this a great comeback album while hardcore Metallica fans considered this album to be a terrible attempt of a comeback album. Hardcore Metallica fans argued that Metallica was loosing their sound and were no longer relevant. This dissuaded hardcore Metallica fans to no longer support the Metallica band.

Metallica - Death Magnetic album review

Metallica came out with an album called Death Magnetic that nobody really paid any attention to despite its rave reviews and its success top charting in singles digits across the globe. Despite its success on the Billboard Charts, the Death Magnetic album sold less than the St. Anger album did. Death Magnetic sold 2.4 million copies. Just because you have a bestselling top charting album doesn't mean that the album will be necessarily great. This album and St. Anger are examples of that.

A+ - The Latchkey Kid album review

The albums focus in production was generally light with the standard low key braggadocio. A+ and his raps were average at best. The overuse and usage of sample from soul groups of a bygone era are nothing new. Samples of songs from the SOS Band were used wholeheartedly all over the album. Shalamar samples were somewhat chosen by the production team. Nothing really holds the weight down on this album. After all, it was a generic 3/5*** rap album with rap music that oversaturated the music market. The Latchkey Kid album received an average of 3/5*** making it an average typical rap album. Nothing too far from being a terrible lackluster 2/5** album though.

Rhymes Monumental - Target Earth album review

Rhymes Monumental took us through an extraterrestrial point of view via an aliens approach on the Target Earth because the Bible tells us we are not part of this world. Rhymes Monumental takes the stance of the warrior since Jesus Christ himself did not come to bring out peace but to seperate family members from assaults the world with his anointed music with skillful lyrics from spoken word. "Get saved or get out of the way." is the motto Rhymes Monumental is rolling with.

Rhymes Monumental is very ministry oriented because he has a personal relationship with Christ. The goal of his albums is to tear down religious myths from Christianity through parables that an unsaved mind can understand. He himself is trying to save souls so they can accept Jesus Christ. Rhymes Monumental has always lived by the ideal that Jesus Christ often spoke in parables. He never walked to a sinner and said I am the son of God. He told parables and stories so that the sinners could hear and understand the truth. If Jesus spoke to everyone about the absolute truth they would die from the knowledge. That is exactly why we were not supposed to eat the fruit in the first place. That's why the face of God is never shown in the Bible. Because if you saw him you would die from your own sin. Never take anybody's word - Consult the Bible.

Add Rhymes Monumental's religious consciousness, funky funk, smooth jazz rhythms, Christian rap, and spoken word, you have the marvelous result of this album! Funk and jazz are the most prevalent elements used along with rap. Rap is another main element of this album.

The Battle: Christ vs. the Deathstar is the most Christian song on the album. This is a tale of two superheroes battling the devil. These two superheroes were recruited by Jesus Christ to battle the devil. In particular, these two souls are super because they have Jesus Christ in their lives.

You don't need sex, drugs, clothes, materialism, gluttony, or money to be hook on Christ. You just need Christ. Just Christ. That what Hooked on Christ is all about. Hooked on Christ features the Illharmonics (Play Dough and Blake Knight). The concept of Godcore is "You can keep the hardcore and whatever. Our core is Christ!" He lives in us. The track itself is a virtuoso victory.

The Tribute is a mix n mash hodgepodge of samples from previous Rhymes Monumental albums. It's a special tribute to Rhymes Monumental's older albums that not many people have heard because only certain amounts copies were pressed.

Ghostriders turns into spiritual fiction from the start. Holy Ghost Riders are riding motorcycles to the rescue engulfed by Holy Fire with legions of angels. Jesus is coming back like a thief in the night. So get ready! Call the Holy Ghost Riders to evade your attacks. Witness the Holy Ghost.

Rhymes Monumental is preaching is like a heavyweight on Headstrong. Rhymes Monumental grasps his bible shooting verses and scriptures until they need stitches. Preach like a heavyweight especially if a demon manifests in your own realm of spirituality! (Or Christ.) But some people won't listen no matter what because they're too headstrong. Ask your pastor or priest.

Headstrong samples Main Source - Looking at the Front Door. Rhymes Monumental was smart for using a funk sample accompany a jazz instrumental. Funk and jazz blend in well with each other. We can that Rhymes Monumental had fun with this track because it gets funky right away!

Marod - Degree 40:3 album review

Degree 40:3 is an incredible album many slept on. Brother Byron Marod is speaking the word of God on Degree 40:3. Funky beats and religious lyrics help accompany the album to make your listening experience enjoyable. Marod quotes many bible scriptures in the song Jubilee. He gets deep into his religious roots on this song as he explores the Christian religion at all angles and perspectives. Marod also gets lyrical on The Heist. He shows mercy on each and every track for the album.

Mr. Real - Humility album review

Humility was highly sought after and critically acclaimed by fans and music critics alike. Humility received lukewarm reception and attention in its day. Grapetree Records advertised Humility all over the place in the fiscal year of 1999-2000. Fan could call a hotline to order the Humility album at the time. Mr. Real comes with a smooth tactical flow over hardcore Christian rap making the album a strong project. Nonetheless, his lyrical flow is smooth. Mr. Real is very similar to Timbaland.

Temptation deals with the issue of men in the church who fall prey into the sin called lust. These men in the church setting often fall prey to their sexual desires. Temptation delivers a powerful personal testimony to even the most hardcore sinner. Sexual desires plague their bodies until they come clean to Jesus.

Mind Games gets deep and lyrical. The song Mind Games has such awesome lyrical content.  It's going down serves as a 'war cry' to the enemy. Female gospel rapper Xplicit make a well memorable performance on Going Down.

Nuwine - When Thugs Fly album review

Nuwine utilizes all the air and opportunity to vent and express his anger with society on He Want U To Die. He also uses this opportunity to vent and express his with the devil also. Nuwine encourages others to lean on Jesus Christ during periods of anger. Such passion is fueled by anger. Also Nuwine addresses hurt and pain here too. He shares his intensity of pain to you. Such hard language is used with crushing intensity of hurt and pain on Take a Nap. Take a Nap takes us on insight inside the Psalms of Nuwine. Those who have experienced similar pain can truly identify.

Truth - The Truth Hurts album review

Gospel duo The Truth released an album in 2002 called Truth Hurts on Grapetree Records when the label was on its last leg during its heyday. That's why the album did not sell very well from a sales point of view nor did the album receive any attention from fans or music critics alike. It was due to lack of financial backing and lack of marketing that The Truth Hurts album was a flop. Unfortunately later in the year of 2003, Grapetree Records folded. Not only did the label downsize, but The Truth also unknowingly signed away the rights to their duo name, songs, and The Truth Hurts album to Knolly Williams.

The Truth chose to dedicate their gift back to God. So that God can get the glory out of their music. In this album, The Truth talks about having traveled around the world promoting the goodness of Jesus Christ. The goodness of Christ is what The Truth is all about. The duo gave their life to religion of Christianity. The Truth duo feels as if they have something to prove to God first rather than to their listening audience.

Despite their drive of passion, the group simply had no talent. Their lyrics were wack. Christian rap is nothing new. Enough people cashed in on that subgenre now. If the duo ran with a different name such as Max N Zeke or something else, the duo probably would have seen leeway for more success. It was due to lack of knowledge in the music business that The Truth did not succeed. Hey. The truth hurts.

Faze - Just Tryin Ta Stay Up/Slippin in the Darkness single review

Just Tryin Ta Stay Up is a deep dark track about trying to stay alive in this tough world during these trying times. Faze is just trying to stay up in this world. He is trying to keep his insanity. This track has a mourning dark mood. His lyrical delivery is rough especially on this track. Faze describes the world is falling apart and going crazy. Faze is already waiting "to meet his maker just tryin' ta stay up." He goes religiously deep on this album. He asks God why must things be this way.

Slippin in the Darkness is where the album gets into a real dark mood. The additional  instruments were played by Fuzzy and The Blues Band. Once again, Faze calls out bigots and racists lyrically. Faze comes with intellect to reject ignorant people. In retrospect, it reflects. Even when it's sunny, you can still slip into darkness.

Faze boxes against sin and darkness on this single. His lyrical delivery is rough. Most of the single has a deep mourning dark mood that fights emotional battles. Faze shows himself from his champion side. He feels this single’s experience is self-rewarding. Faze comes with an East Coast vibe in his voice.

Black Mikey - Premeditated Music album review

For those who don't know Black Mikey is a musician/artist out of San Diego, preferably Southeast San Diego (SESD) who in 2009 signed to Mitchy Slick's Tha WrongKind Records. He has been writing his own lyrics since 1990. Black Mikey has been rapping since Rappers Delight and I don't think that there has been a rapper as tight!

Black Mikey mixes soul, reggae, and rap on his own cover of Mark Morrison - Return Of The Mack. Only Black Mikey’s cover version is called return of the Return Of The Black. Black Mikey uses his reggae chanting with a soulful touch. [He was well known for his Reggae style voice in the 90s in San Diego (SESD).] Reggae Black Mikey is sick! The production is off the hook!

Black Mikey goes straight up lyrical on Jealousy. He spits out a bunch of bars and verses. He is known for his lyrical witty rhymes in his rap.

Lyrical geniuses Black Mikey and Redrum781 go lyrical on the track Spit Flame. The combination of the two made Spit Flame an underground success. Black Mikey and Redrum781 do their best to bring the West Coast back.

Black Mikey is a crossover of old school meets new school and new school meet old school. Also he has this Jamaican reggae-ton voice in a lot of his early tracks and a few in his new tracks. The album is sample crazy unlike most today. Stepping Stones, Return Of The Black, Burn Rubber, We No Scare, Spit Flame, and Jealousy are the best tracks off the album! This is a must have!

Voxtrot -Your Biggest Fan EP review

This EP/album sounds too much like piano pop. Nothing wrong with that though. Voxtrot is old-style classic pop. For some reason the three tracks will not be on any of their on the new 11 track LP (EP/album) from 2007 which kind of bites as most of us Voxtrot fans were anticipating for. A lot of tracks, including any of their 13 EP tracks, were not on the s/t debut. Luckily it picks up 2/3rd's of the way in. Kudos for the old-style value for money!

Hi-Sonorous - Lessons How To Fly album review

This album was created from when they were sitting alone in their houses awaiting inspiration. Hi-Sonorous was known for making stupid videos with their friends. They spend their days in the studio producing. Hi-Sonorous spent many days in their studio producing.
Hi-Sonorous is Chris and Sanj. They are song-writers, musicians, and record producers based in Southampton, UK.

The song Repeat is good, but the artist featured has a ridiculous name. (Matt Diaper I kid you not.) Feel Brand New is a song about feeling fresh. Demons and Mermaids In Jetpacks are fantasy songs. Transformer is an upbeat song. Save Me features Dave Churchill. Trenchcoat, meh. Boots'n'Cape is so-so. All in all it's a good alternative rap album.

Vallejo is back at it again with their new album Brother Brew in 2012! There are not really any fillers on this album. This is a great CD to enjoy! The album has 10 songs. If you liked Stereo, You will like this! Some of it sounds like the Black Crows! Best Vallejo album in 2012! This album took 4 years to record. Take Me Away, Gone, With Everyday, Running, and Nothing To Lose all should have been singles. That is what I think.

Black Mikey - Smash Or Get Smashed album review

Smash Or Get Smashed on was a collection of works from 2009/2010 studio sessions. Probably B Sides and/or leftovers from years ago. This album was done not too long ago when Black Mikey, himself, not too long ago just got finished doing a prison bid back in 2008. He caught a case in 2002 and went to jail for 7-8 years.

The Suitcase Box song finds Black Mikey growing up in the Southeast with the gang culture. This song also finds Black Mikey Mikey reminiscing on about back in the days. Black Mikey, he’s pretty grounded in his raps nowadays.

100 Bars was his dopest freestyle ever! He should have been out big years ago. But either way, he’s pretty grounded in his raps nowadays. It goes rock hard! He has come back to claim Ruler of the SouthEast. Black Mikey is known for mixing Old School meets New School.

Toby Keith - Toby Keith album review

For starters, 70% of the album is filled with love songs which is guess is quite common in country music. Which should not be a surprise. Mama Come Quick is about his childhood. The album ends with the humorous track Close But No Guitar.  Ain't No Thang is quite the same. All in all, the album is good. There was an unbalanced number of love songs and that some of the tracks weren't long enough. Adding a 4 minute song would have helped.

NOFX - So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes album review

So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes is another overlooked and underrated NOFX album. Part of the problem is the production sound of the album. The production was not as high quality sounding as the others. That's why it did not have huge success. Kids of the K-Hole is a song that got overlooked by the rest of the album. Other good songs are Eat The Meek, Quart In Session, and All Outta Angst. It's not a bad record. The group is as funny as ever! After 25 years in the game, NOFX are still going hard as ever!

NOFX - Coaster album review

After 25 years in the game, NOFX are still going hard as ever! The group is as funny as ever! They tackle their known favorite subjects such as drinking, anti-religion, and anti-patriotism along with the themes of partying, and observations about the band scene. It's not a bad record. Most of Coaster is an ode to alcoholic beverages, partying, and fun times. This has to be another one of NOFX's most underrated album.

Lisette Melendez - Imagination album review

The trippy acid colored front album cover and the yellow letters is what make the album cover unique and interesting. Ecstasy is quite catchy! Time Passes By is the cut single. So was Make the Way. Never Ever should have been a single. Many songs here seem to have been rehashed versions of earlier quality hits or other songs. The album can get tiresome quickly however. This album was thrown together from previous cuts and unreleased demos.

Bleezo - Da Protocol album review

If you are looking for that Sac-Town Funk with that 91Siccness sound, then this is the right album for you! Da Protocol has 18 bangin' tracks guaranteed to make you want to buy this album. Sav Sicc, No Love, and Twisted Insane make appearances on this album. All the tracks are off the hook so I suggest you buy this! You will not regret it!

Gang Bang is a gangsta rap track. Bleezo showcases his lyrical skills on A Time To Kill. A Time To Kill has some sick ass bass! So does Jeepers Creepers with Brotha Lynch Hung and Twisted Insane. Lynch's verse is a quality verse! On The Go is my favorite track. 24 Pounds of Smoke is a 2013 remake of One Mo Pound by Brotha Lynch Hung. Cleanthy is an ok track. There is so much more I could add, but I don't want to ruin or spoil the album.

Viper - Ya'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack album review

This album looks like a mixtape you would find at Goodwill, Savers, or DatPiff because of the white background on the front album cover and the generic type font Times New Roman letters used for the logo. If Viper had used Black Cat Productions, Clout Distribution, or Wet Graphics, then it would not look like a mixtape. In fact it looks like a CD-R bootleg. It looks like a mugshot that would appear on the 11 o'clock news.

Ya'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack is an example of modern day Hip Hop. Not Hip Pop. I love. Viper has his own style called "hobo-core". "hobo-core" has a hypnotic flow. Even if the flows are repetitive, Viper is an oddball hip-hop artist like Devin The Dude, Lyric Da Queen, Lil B, and Orko Eloheim.

As for sound quality, it is low quality. It sound like was recorded thru mono speakers instead of stereo speakers. Like a four track demo cassette. This album needs better mastering and needs to be re-recorded again using better technology.

Viper does have a fanbase out there, but it's not that big on the internet for some odd reasons. The things that are bothersome about this album were the graphics, appearance, and quality. But hey, beggars can't be choosers.

G-Slimm - Four Deuces & Trays album review

Four Deuces & Trays was more West Coast oriented than the bounce rap sound that was coming out of New Orleans in the 90s. Imagine listen to G-Slimm in 3 wheel motion. This album was released in 1994 on Big Boy Records out of NOLA. The album has been out of print for a long time. The Lashes - Get a Little single review

The songs are Sometimes The Sun and Please, Please, Please. Both songs are 3 minutes long. It seems that The Lashes were trying to replicate The Beatles on this single by having a song called Please, Please, Please. I do believe that Please, Please, Please was a cover song of Please, Please Me by The Beatles. Sometimes The Sun might have been a cover song of Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles. The Lashes were trying to copy and mimic The Beatles on this shit.

Vince Gelonese - Every Dream single review

Vince Gelonese is a musician from Australia. Every Dream was released as a CD single in 2013. This single is pretty much soft rock. There are only 2 songs. Vince Gelonese has the looks of a former N*SYNC member. I can agree with that. Colin Muir does the pianos and keyboards. Petros Famelis does the percussion. The front cover looks like a Christian spiritual albums on CD. One of those religious spiritual albums.

Nicole Wray - Advance 4 Track EP EP review

This Advance 4 Track EP was an album sampler that came out on vinyl for the Lovechild album that was supposed to be released in 2005 from Rocafella Records but wasn't. This vinyl is very much mixed with Rock, Pop, and Blues sounds.

Bling Bling is one of those club songs to groove your body to. This song is for the ladies to get their girls to and get iced up! This is a song to move your body body and throw your hands up to! A song to party to all night long! Bling Bling is a fast paced pop-soul oriented song with hyphy beats that are off the hook. In fact, you can hear some heavy bass notes with that edge rock sound. So toast to the good life! Other than that, Bling Bling is a very pop oriented song. Bling Bling was a song for the Lovechild album that was supposed to be released in 2005. This song was also a demo song for 3LW and The Cheetah Girls.

Act A Fool is a low production song that has a Spanish flamenco beat to it as a typical Nicole Wray song would have. I love the Spanish/Latin rhythmic guitar used on this track. Still Nicole Wray manages to make it through her days. Sometimes she just does want to act like a damn fool as the song portrays.

Where I'm From is a sad heartfelt song about where Nicole Wray is from. Nicole Wray is from the slums. The area Nicole Wray is from is where people ain't got no money and people look real funny.  Dogs roam behind each other because they have no shelter or home. Young guys on the corner be pushin' real hard from Monday to Sunday regardless of the legality of the product or not. Whether it's legal or illegal. But they all have a lot of love to share and give with each other. Where I'm From will remind you of a sad Blues song. You will think of Rock and Blues when you listen to Where I'm From.

Ain't Nobody, Fire, You Ain't Shit To Me, Walk Right Up, Thug Style, and So Sexy should have been included on this vinyl. But definitely Ain't Nobody and Fire!

Angie Stone - Mahogany Soul album review

Mahogany Soul is another soul album by Angie Stone. This album is what helped launch Angie Stone’s career into the soul music market. Fans of soul music instantly fell in love with this album. Music critics panned this album to be a success. Mahogany Soul was considered a favorite by many countries across the globe. Mahogany Soul is the type of album you would see at Starbucks. It’s that good!

Some people can’t let up long enough to get over love. That’s what Pissed Off is all about. Pissed Off deals with love inside an abusive relationship. Looking at life through an abuser’s point of view, little shit like love doesn’t matter. Your own lover is so pissed off.

Mad Issues deal with abuse at every angle from Angie’s perspective. Opportunity to right your wrong is misused. In other words, the cycle of abuse continues. Opportunity to change is not used. The time has come for you to leave them alone.

You know that time of the month where you get your paycheck and money’s missing? Well that’s what Time Of The Month is about. It’s one big mess after another. Money’s missing and your bills are due now. Yep. It’s that time of the month.

More Than A Woman was a duet with Calvin Richardson. The song was produced by Eddie F and Darren Lighty of Soul Central. The duet was more than a good idea.

Angie Stone - Black Diamond album review

If Angie Stone and her record company released her Black Diamond album in 1999 instead of 1996, the album would have seen more success in the spotlight. Music critics panned this album to be a stellar debut effort. Black Diamond received an average yet well received 4/5**** rating by music critics. Soulful sultry poetry was becoming new at the time. But yet this album was overshadowed by the pop market. The pop market is what led the album to be overshadowed. So Angie Stone and her record company had to suffer from that setback. Maybe if the album was titled Trials And Tribulations Of Angie Stone the album would have sold better than it did. Angie Stone refers to Black Diamond as a soul album rather than an R&B album despite the sounds of modern R&B prevalent in the production sound.

This album is based on a woman’s intuition. Love and glory are the elements of her story. A woman’s life has ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and of course let’s not forget, joys. A woman’s life also has passion. It’s all about the trials and tribulations of Angie Stone. Angie Stone refers to Black Diamond as a soul album. Her reference fits accurately right because soul music does sooth your soul. She uses sultry soul music to accompany her poetry with a touch of modern R&B that’s offered by the production team.
