DJ Jimi - I’m Back! album review

DJ Jimi reminds us that he’s still got it going’ on with Still Goin’ On. The catchy beats are accompanied by the New Orleans bounce music sound. The percussion is similar to what you would expect to hear from New Orleans bounce music. It will remind you of a Ricky B song. Jimi’s verses are nothing but pure gold with his lyrics. You will be easily digging’ this track. Missing comes with a 90s vibe similar to TLC. The hooks and flows are nice.  Jimi’s verses are nothing but pure gold with his lyrics. His lyrics are gold. Bounce music meets gangsta rap on the track Yeah.

5th Avenue - 5th Avenue Sampler  album review

5th Avenue was a group that one hit R&B songstress Blu Cantrell was apparently in during the early 2000s. They were all signed to Arista Records. 5th Avenue was a combined venture between Teddy Riley and his former group Blackstreet. On this sampler, 5th Avenue tries to bring out the best in them with their theme sultry soul ballads. Teddy Riley produced most of this. Contemporary R&B meets smooth tropical jazz with soul music.

Chauncey Black features himself on the exclusive track All About You which features some of the Blackstreet members on backing vocals. Soul meets smooth jazz on All About You. All About You is a fine example of Contemporary RnB. Teddy Riley and Chauncey Black take credit for most of the track.

What I'm Looking For incorporates the interpolation of I Don't Believe You Want Get Up And Dance (Oops) by The Gap Band. 5th Avenue say you got what I'm looking for.

Come My Way is a song strictly for the bedroom during a late night romance. Come My Way is a song one would expect to see in the bedroom late night in a romance film. Chauncey Black makes yet another feature on Come My Way. This song also incorporates the interpolation of I Don't Believe You Want Get Up And Dance (Oops) by The Gap Band.

Sacrifice is a short yet sweet song about the sacrifice(s) made in love. Love life is filled with such sacrifices.

Tamar Davis - Milk & Honey album review

The album is mainly a mixture of neo-soul and rock influences. Add that with blues and funk. Tamar was obviously inspired by Beyoncé because her album sounds very similar to her music. Her influences for this album must have been Prince and Beyoncé. That's no surprise because Tamar Davis is one of Prince's former proteges. However this album was only released in Japan for unknown reasons. That makes this album illusive. The public was not ready yet for a Beyoncé clone. That's probably why the album was released to Japan only. It's a shame because Tamar Davis is really good at singing.

DJ Snake - King Of Bass album review

King Of Bass was an album that was produced, engineered, and programmed by DJ Snake. King of Bass itself was released on Youngsta Records in 1996. DJ Snake shows of drum programming techniques on this albums production as he responsible for 100% of the production. This album is different from his last album due to the absence of DJ AK and longevity. Bass test tones are included with this album with tracks 9-15 in the frequency ranges of 24.5 Hz to 58 Hz. The album is mainly a mixture of electronic, dance, rap, pop, and hip hop.

Art of Bass is an interpolation of Beatbox by Art of Noise. DJ Snake pays tribute to British electronic band Art of Noise on this song. The drum programming plays a role the heavy percussion ridden song. It's an electronic mix n mash of Art of Noise songs into one single track. Most of the percussion selection is electronically programmed and not produced live. No life instrumentation was used on this song.

Super Boom was a 5 minute song that displayed DJ Snakes drum programming skills. He incorporated a 46 Hz bass test tone in the background. If you ultrasound headphones that are good, you probably can hear the 46 Hz bass test tone. Super Boom is rap and hip hop influenced in terms of percussion.

Nasty Bass is another rap and hip hop influenced song electronically programmed by DJ Snake. Nasty Bass was most likely influenced by the sounds of Freaky Tales by Too $hort. The bass gets super nasty on this song.

Frequency is a journey into sound and bass. He kept the frequency clear while producing this song creating a mega melody of influences from several musical genres such as electronic, rap, hip hop, soul, and pop. Frequency incorporates elements from the How Low? song.

How Low? is an electronic rap inspired song which percussion was programmed by the great DJ Snake. The percussion and bass are set to an extremely loud volume! The bass is set to a vey low level.

Treble is faded and the bass is reduced on Bass Down. DJ Snake uses the bass reduction setting on this song. He masters it quite flawlessly. The percussion takes a sample of Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner. Bass test tones are used and sampled throughout the song.

Vallejo - Into The New Album Sampler album review

It's into the new and out with the old for Vallejo on their Into The New album sampler! This was the album sampler for the Vallejo album Into The New from 2000 that was released on the Epic/Sony label. The Vallejo - Into The New Album Sampler was released on CD only. 2/3 (66%) of this album sampler has songs by the Vallejo band that were sung in Spanish language. This album sampler is known by hardcore Vallejo fans as the Vallejo Spanish Album Sampler.

Into The New (Live) is a live version of that song which is also on the Leftovers album from 2005. For those who don't know, it was recorded live at Waterloo Park here in Austin, Texas in March of 2000. It's into the new and out with the old for Vallejo on this song!

Hola bienvenidos! This song is an invitation to the new Spanish Classico sound by
Vallejo. So come on down and let Vallejo take you there into the new millennium. The Spanish Version of Classico is the second track. It was the Vallejo anthem of 2000 for the Vallejo band especially the Spanish version of this song which they would play at their live concerts in the early 2000s. Latin meets rock music on Classico creating a Latin rock fusion.

La Familia is another Vallejo song that was sung entirely in Spanish for this album sampler. It's all about family right here on this song. There will never be another. La Familia was an overlooked Vallejo song. The live instrumentation helps accompany the Latin rock sound.

Vallejo - Into The New album review

Back in the year 2000, Vallejo took us into the new millennium with their Latin rock infused album appropriately titled Into The New which was released on Epic/Sony. Vallejo rocked the world by taking us on their mission through a journey of Latin rock music. What Vallejo did on this album was take us into the millennium with this new album. Local hype surrounding the album is what led Vallejo to gain popularity among fans with this album altogether. Vallejo uses the English and Spanish languages in their own songs to create their well known Spanglish melodies. The album was a breathtaking experience for both fans, the music business, and music critics. It's into the new and out with the old for Vallejo with this album!

Vallejo takes into the new and out with the old on the song Into The New. It's into the new and out with the old for Vallejo on this song! What Vallejo did on this album was take us into the millennium with this new song.

Into The New beings with the old fashioned dialup sounds of a modem connecting to AOL which represents symbolism of taking us into the new millennium of the 2000s. The very beginning is symbolic. Vallejo rocked the world by taking us on their mission through a journey of Latin rock music. No matter what, Vallejo will surely take us there. Wherever they want to go.

Hola bienvenidos! This song is an invitation to the new Spanish Classico sound by Vallejo. So come on down and let Vallejo take you there into the new millennium. Latin meets rock music on Classico creating a Latin rock fusion. Live instrumentation accompanied the Latin rock song with Vallejo using a mix of the Spanish and English language on Classico. Classico was their hit single for 2000.

It was the Vallejo anthem of 2000 for the Vallejo band especially the Spanish version of this song which they would play at their live concerts in the early 2000s. Classico was a hit when Vallejo performed that song during their live concerts. Many fans instantly fell in love with that song afterwords.

Over You details a story of past relationship with ones lover. The relationship was stale. In other words, the relationship was a ball and chain relationship. Such a relationship is a drag. It's good to be free. Believe it or leave it. It's good to be free. That applies to you, me, and everyone else. One day Vallejo will get over you. That's why they are over you.

Believe it or leave it. Those are Vallejo's words. Such words are considered to be quotable dialogue. Vallejo does not receive enough awards when it comes to songwriting. Words such as those deserve a Grammy.

Somehow, someway, Vallejo is gonna make you listen to them on the rock song Someway. It doesn't matter what people say because they don't know what makes the Vallejo band happy. The time has come for them to settle the score. We all need something new. Someday they will have their way. And you can't do a damn thing about it. They get deep in it on Someway. Someway Vallejo will have things their own way.

I Go On is a short but sweet rock song about moving on in life. No matter what Vallejo is moving on. Their darker days have taken everything past them along with everything they owned. Despite all that nothing comes for free in life. Vallejo wants to be free. They want to be free.

La Familia is another Vallejo song that was sung entirely in Spanish for this album sampler. It's all about family right here on this song. Family is as thick as vine. There will never be another. La Familia was an overlooked Vallejo song. The live instrumentation helps accompany the Latin rock sound.

Vallejo will take you back down memory lane by a trip of nostalgia on the rock song Back In The Day. Remember the days playing under the sun when it was considered fun? That's what this song is all about. It's all about the good times. Having fun while playing under the sun, kicking up dust, cracking jokes, drinking wine, and sitting around. Now your friends went separate ways and you changed your ways. Life has drastically changed since you were young.

Día De Muerto is a Latin rock song honoring Day Of The Dead. Vallejo uses words from the English and Spanish languages in this song making it a Spanish melody. A bit of salsa is added to the mix. Latin meets rock music. Your dying day is going to come as they say.

Vallejo lets it slide on the rock song Let It Slide. Feelings are conjured when it comes to love. Sometimes it's best to let it slide. Open the doors and let's begin. It's not worth fighting for. Let it slide. It's alright.

El Matador is a instrumental Latin rock song performed by Vallejo using live instrumentation using various instruments. El Matador is a Spanish salsa Latin rock melody. Latin meets rock on El Matador with a bit of Spanish salsa music added. Live instrumentation helps accompany the song El Matador.

Vallejo describes the daily perspective of a modern day slave in the United States of America on the song Modern Day Slave. Not only does Modern Day Slave describe the perspective of the average citizen in the United States of America, Modern Day Slave describes the outlook of income inequality and income equality problems the United States of America is facing making the song more relevant now than ever. The average American citizen is a modern day slave. Income equality and income inequality are the issues of this song.

Vallejo and MC Overlord describe through their lyrics the social, cultural, political aspects of income inequality in the United States of America. Austin, Texas rapper MC Overlord raps on most of the verses taking credit for this song on the Into The New album. MC Overlord really stands out as a rapper on this song. Vallejo and MC Overlord deal with the social, cultural, political aspects of income inequality and income equality in the United States of America. Rap meets Latin rock on Modern Day Slave.

United States of America is the known chosen land of the free. All you need is common sense to realize that you are not truly free as an American citizen. It helps to have some money. Many American citizens are underpaid and overworked. So many American citizens consider their pay to be low in terms of income. That's just the reality through the perspective of an average American citizen who is considered a modern day slave by society. The average American citizen is a modern day slave. In the eyes of many American citizens, income equality is income inequality.
Only those who are rich will succeed. Those who are poor are deemed as failures. Those are the norms in such ideology imposed by American culture and society. Politics and culture play huge roles inside income inequality and income equality in the United States of America.

It's out with the old and into the new for Vallejo on the song Out With The Old! Vallejo band members sing in both English and Spanish languages creating a fusion of Spanglish language being sung on this song thus creating a Spanglish melody. The heavy loud sound of the guitar notes are accompanied by the overdub. They let go their skills on this song here. What Vallejo did on this album was take us into the millennium with this new album.

Out With The Old appeared as a hidden bonus track on the CD and digital version of the Into the new album. Out With The Old did not appear on the cassette version of Into The New to set the record straight. Epic/Sony dropped the ball when they made the decision hide the Out With The Old song from the Into The New album.

Jonny Z - Jonny Z album review

Latin music meets salsa music, samba, pop, rap, hip hop, soul music, and bass music on the Jonny Z album. No Señor, Mamacita, Shake Shake, Three Little Vatos, and Órale were the hit singles off this album. A handful of tracks off this album are memorable melodies to Jonny Z fans. No Señor is a Spanish mega melody with trunk rattling heavy bass music accompanied with the production of Mr. Mixx of the 2 Live Crew. Mr. Mixx lent a huge hand in production. Shake Shake and Mamacita are memorable Latin mega melodies that became hit singles which were played in underground clubs. The bass music and Spanish melodies are what made these songs popular overnight. La Bala is one of Jonny Z's most overlooked songs. Many slept on La Bala.

Patti LaBelle - Flame album review

The album entitled Pearl Jam to its own right has proven to be a classical masterpiece in the Seattle grunge scene since the 1990s. Realistically, the Pearl Jam album proved to be a success with Pearl Jam. This album was the blueprint laid down for the Seattle grunge scene. After that, all grunge rock bands in Seattle, Washington had followed suit with the release of the Pearl Jam album. When Pearl was released in 1993 on Epic Records, Pearl Jam proved to them that any posthumous albums by the band would be a huge success thus charting in single-digit numbers on the BillBoard Charts.

Pearl Jam - Alive album review

Alive was a demo cassette by Pearl Jam released on Epic Records in 1991. The Alive demo proved to be a classical masterpiece of a demo to Epic Records which allowed the band to later record the Ten album that was to become an international success across the globe. Alive is an end result of fate, quickness, brashness, and hard work of course. The demo album itself mainly sticks to the Seattle sound of grunge rock similar to Sub Pop. Pearl Jam compared themselves to the newly formed Sub Pop label at the time of this demo.

Alive would be the first single from the Ten album released in 1991. Pearl Jam had chosen the song Alive to be the first single for the album Ten. Alive was the best grunge single for this album. I really loved it and you will too! Alive is the best known song among Pearl Jam fans. Pearl Jam quickly became a kick ass faction with this Alive song and Wash as well. Wash was a song that would only be heard on this demo and nowhere else.

Fatal Clicc - Graphic Violence album review

Such album details graphic violence through graphic lyrics in rap music. The albums main theme is violence as the title suggests. Lurid gruesome graphic violence is the theme for this album. Such intelligence and violence is portrayed in their lyrics. The Fatal Clicc anthem is gruesome graphic violence. One might refer to this Fatal Clicc album as a compilation due to the song packaging. The same intelligence and violence used on ICP’s Intelligence and Violence album. Fatal Clicc released this album on their myspace page as a digital download in 2007. Pinnacle Music released this album on their label. The same Fatal Clicc hopes to hit the national market hard with Graphic Violence.

V6 - Infinity album review

The intro is a cool spacey mellow introduction to the Infinity album. Cool, mellow, and spacey are terms that can be used to describe this intro. This song will make you feel as if you were surrounded by nothing in space. Space in audio fits in perfectly with the vibe of this song. The beats at the end of the intro will make you extremely anxious to listen to the rest of the songs on this V6 album!

Jay Chou - Chopin album review

Folk/Pop star Jay Chou (Zhou Jie Lun) had attracted a lot of attention in the Chinese community in 2006 with his groundbreaking album Chopin. His songwriting skills are brilliant because his songs turn into hits! Chopin was released in advance as a promo to radio stations in China. Jay Chou is the King of Pop in China with his mega hits.

Nocturne (yie qu) was released beforehand to radio stations with the song eventually ending on the air waves. The lonely echoes of the classical grand and acoustic guitar make Nocturne a beautiful sentimental song. The classical sound matches the pop sound.

Mood suddenly changes with Trapped Beast (kun shou zhi dou) making it into a calm beautiful ballad. Classical music meets pop music on Trapped Beast creating a combination of classical pop.

The Poet of the Piano pays tribute and homage to Frédéric Chopin whom Jay Chou greatly admires. Classical music meets pop music on The Poet of the Piano creating a combination of classical pop. Jay Chou improved this composition as a songwriter while inspired by classical music.

East Wind Breaks (dong feng po) mixes Jay's special blend of traditional Chinese instrumentation in this folk song. Folk music meets pop on East Wind Breaks. Signs of orientalism are shown on this song's composition.

Deserted on All Sides (si mian chu ge) discusses Jay Chou's encounters with paparazzi photographers in a light comical sense. An air of seriousness expressed the artist's anger. Producer Michael Hammar Kent a hand in production while Jay Chou wrote this song's composition.

Starry Mood (xing qing) is an avant-garde melody. The melody is quite lovely. Mood and melody fit in with the ambience of the song. Also the mood has a contemporary sound to it.

Janice Vidal - Morning album review

Janice Vidal is one of the many ignored lyricists out there whose lyrics meanings are overlooked. Sometimes her lyrics are cliched and flawed because Janice sings in her mother tongue of Cantonese language which is what a majority of the songs of this album are sung in. Half of the album is sung in the English language and the half of the album is sung in her native Cantonese language which is what made the lyrics terrible to those of her fans who were expecting Janice to sing in English. Fans of Janice Vidal expected her to sing in English perfectly in no cliches. Morning has gained favorable and average reviews on YesAsia. Yes the album has its flaws but the instrumentation and production are what made the album a tolerable moderate effort. She just needs to work with songwriters fluent in the English language in order to result in perfection.

Ciara - Evolution album review

Evolution marked the evolution of Ciara not only as an artist but as a producer. Her choice of instrumentation arrangements on her songs for this album prove so otherwise. She chose high quality production to match the upbeat percussion in her songs. The production sound is very high in quality compared to her debut Goodies album although the percussion ensemble remains the same. Still nonetheless, Evolution nearly took the soul pop market by storm by reaching double platinum status. Evolution is soul pop meaning that soul meets pop music on this album. Evolution came with a bonus DVD that included music videos and additional extra bonus tracks not included on the CD. The Promise and Evolution music videos were included with the bonus DVD.

Ginuwine - Gi.nu.wine album review

Gi.nu.wine is the unreleased Swing Mob album that was supposed to be released on DeVante Swing's Swing Mob imprint label. Ginuwine lays down his smooth silky vocals on R&B ballads of love on many of the songs. The early Bassment/Swing Mob sound can be heard on this album. Only an extremely limited amount of promotional copies of this album were ever pressed. Probably around 25-50 copies. No more than that. Gi.Nu.Wine was known as the Untitled Bassment Album or the Untitled Album.

Come On In has a G-Funk meets soul vibe. The song has DeVante's work written all over it. DeVante Swing used the vocoder in the background. DeVante Swing and Darryl Pearson produced this for/with Ginuwine. Part of the chorus contains an interpolation of the Keith Sweat song Right and Wrong Way. Come On In is a Ginuwine song from Da Bassment era. You can feel an Usher type vibe when you listen to Come On In.

Ginuwine lays his smooth sultry vocals on the intimate romantic song Soaking Wet. His soulful vocals make Soaking Wet brash and beautiful. DeVante produced this cut. Soaking Wet is a perfect song for the bedroom during a romantic evening. Perfect for a rendezvous.

I'm Going To Fall In Love is a soul music meets G-Funk song. I'm Going To Fall In Love is a perfect song for you lover during a rendezvous. Ginuwine uses his soulful voice to accompany the harmony and hook.

Rock was a soul song that was produced by the genius underrated producer Darryl Pearson. DeVante Swing produced and harmonized the hooks on the song I Want You. He was responsible for the hooks. We can hear DeVante's work all over this track.

Black N Wild - Knockerz album review

Knockerz was an album that was supposed to be released on Interscope had their record deal not gone south. Had the record deal gone right, Knockerz would have reached platinum status. Knockerz was originally supposed to be released in 1998 but never was due to a sour business venture. Black N Wild, Jodeci, and Interscope all had a fallout which is why Knockerz was only released as a promo.
Knockerz itself is a sensual timeless masterpiece of an album. DeVante Swing of Jodeci fame produced half of Knockerz. The album is smooth, melodic, playful, brash, and soulful.

Let's Do The Damn Thing features male vocalist Aaron Hall. The song itself is very brash and braggadocios just like good old times. Created here is a soulful melody. Having Aaron Hall as a featured guest on this song was pure genius. It was a genius idea.

It's On Tonight is perfect for a light night romance rendezvous. This song describes the emotions you feel when you your lovers body for the very first time. Communication is key in a relationship both physically and mentally. Also visually as well. If you're in the mood for kinky hot sex, put this song on! A perfect song for you and your partner to get in the mood with.

Body Parts sounds very similar to a Jodeci song you would hear on one of their albums. The sexuality on Body Parts is questionable. Counsellor lets the freak out you. Sneak On will remind you of a Jodeci song, a Ginuwine song, a 702 song, or an Usher song. The beat itself is amazing.
