Original B - World of Fools album review

World of Fools was released in 1996 on cassette only. All the cover artwork including the inlay was done by Erica & Jim Schafer. Brick City Productions was responsible for putting out his cassette. World of Fools was a demo Original B had used to ship around to major record companies in hope for a recording contract. Original B is a rapper from Cleveland, Ohio. Nothing much has been heard about him since 1996.

The bass is real deep, dark, and brooding on the World of Fools track. Listen to the very beginning of the track. The mood is very brooding on the World of Fools track so you know shit’s about to get real deep! Really deep! Brooding moods with deep dark heavy bass gives out Esham’s acid rap vibe.

Original B tells his story of his life. Original B grew up in church with a religious background like every black child. Then he started acting wild. He had girl after girl laying naked next to him. Now he hung with fools puffing on ecstasy. Now he is in the drug game. The drug game first started on the block. Now Original B is big time in a position of power. Currently he’s a rapper and storyteller.

Hell is where Original B dwells. Original B is trying to find his place in this world of fools hence the title of the track. Repentance is the biggest concern on his mind. Living life in this game he’s forced to follow the rules and find himself a spot in this world of fools.
The chorus describes how mother is crying because her son got shot (homicide was the case) and how mother is crying because of that crack rock (cocaine). The chorus repeats itself for 15 seconds.

Original B is in the quasnetic state between heaven or hell. He is caught up between heaven or hell. It’s hard to maintain living life. Will he make it in an ever so cold world? He is standing bold sporting gold and driving Benzo’s. Pimping fine hoes.

Hoochie Mama’s is dealing with the social problems and social concerns of women degrading themselves. All dem project hoes. These women that live in public housing projects such as HUD for instance. Women who are on public assistance and welfare living in lower income areas. The ghetto of course.

The beginning of Hoochie Mama’s starts with a funky saturated bass line over a funky funk guitar with heavy pounding bass guaranteed to almost ruin your speakers if you have set your speakers at a high volume. A looped guitar sample is played on the overdub in the background. If saturated bass is what you’re looking for, then this is the right joint for you.

Quasnetic is dedicated to the brothers and sisters living in a quasnetic state. Quasnetic means getting caught up between the good and the bad by being mentally in the middle. It means being in the middle of the crossroads for particular events, situations, or drama. When in a quasnetic state, you are automatically in the middle unable to decide the good or bad about a particular situation or event. In Original B’s case, the quasnetic state means living the street life.

At the beginning of Quasnetic, Original B explains how at the age of 13 he was living on the streets to make ends meet. He used to sell drugs. Now he is trying so hard to stay clean and clear of drugs. There were drug fiends among other fiends at the time. He used to sell crack cocaine. The blocks are where he would cruise everyday. Original B would slang on Beachwood.

Brick City Intro is the intro. Brick City is a reference to Cleveland, Ohio. The Brick City Intro samples James Brown - The Big Payback. Also dig the James Brown bass guitar sample in the background. Original B lets us know we have entered the zone the beginning of the Brick City Intro. World of Fools is a world of pure evil, chaos, and monotony.

XTC is about the dangers of the drug ecstasy. Ecstasy is a very dangerous drug that makes people very horny and perverted. Fools aren’t acting right when they’re on ecstasy. XTC is very similar to Lil Sin - Whatever It Takes. Mostly XTC is about reaching the height of ecstasy in sexual intercourse.

Bounce To This starts with heavy bass over a sample of Fila Fresh Crew - Hate To Go To Work. Original B tells sucker MCs they compete with that weak sound as Original B is quick to get on that ass. Original B is about to loose control like Silk. In his rap, Original B is like a lyrical Mozart. Bounce To This is a lyrical rap freestyle with a hip hop touch.

This cassette was like no other album or EP that was coming straight out of the Ohio rap scene particularly the city of Cleveland. Brooding moods with deep dark heavy bass gives out Esham’s acid rap vibe. Original B is a great storyteller in his own right and way. Too bad Original B never got his break with this demo of his.

Handsome JET - ¬(゜~゜)Г album review

Jet Boogie is a Handsome Jet melody of all the songs on the ¬(゜~゜)Г album all onto one track. Think of this song as a mega melody. A loud heavy hard rock mega melody is what it sounds like. Hard rock meets heavy metal mega in this mega melody song. The volume is set quite loud! Handsome JET does his usual chanting, singing, and yelling through the enchanted power of music. Handsome JET himself takes the lead in this song as a vocalist.

Dusk [アヒル] is a perfect song to play at night during the peaceful nighttime. Dusk has that peaceful nighttime vibe to it. Handsome JET himself takes the lead in this song as a vocalist. Handsome JET does his usual singing and yelling through the enchanted power of music. Toshio Sakurai sang on Dusk.

[Handsome Jet is the name of the lead singer of the coincidental band Handsome JET. Handsome JET is Handsome Jet, YUEI (Yuei Uematsu), and Toshio Sakurai. Electronic rock musician YUEI had nothing to do with this album.]

Only around 10,000 copies of ¬ (゜ ~ ゜) Г were pressed on CD and sold via Amazon, by Handsome JET directly himself, sold at GITADORA LIVE concerts, or were sold at those Handsome JET Live concerts hosted by Bemani with help of Konami. Most copies of ¬ (゜ ~ ゜) Г were pressed sold on Amazon.com.
Due to budgetary concerns, Handsome JET played with a single acoustic guitar. Songs from Bemani games such as GuitarFreaks and Drummania were not included due to copyright reasons. Toshio Sakurai sang on most of the dark songs such as Dusk and self-haunting.
[¬ (゜ ~ ゜) Г is a notation used to represent an emoticon.]

Sadly however, ¬(゜~゜)Г and Honto was the only album from Handsome JET that was ever released. Lead singer Handsome JET died in May 2008 in a traffic accident while riding a motorcycle in Japan. Handsome JET would have taken off to become a national success if the lead singer hadn't died. Handsome JET sang a multitude of songs from Konami originals and licensed covers alike. His real name has never been revealed and is not known. He is credited as Handsome JET or Jetto-san (ジェットさん).

Lil Peanutt - Lil Peanutt Album Sampler album review

Chattanooga rapper Lil Peanutt was the flagship artist for the World Affiliated label back in 2002. The album became a lukewarm hot commodity in the underground music scene from Tennessee to Texas thanks to help from Select-O-Hits and SOH Networks. The reason why Lil Peanutt had a mild buzz in the Southern United States is because Lil Peanutt’s 2002 album sampler made so much noise that it caught the attention of Bun-B from UGK. Bun-B was all over Lil Peanutt’s 2003 album.

The reminiscent tune Long Time Ago samples Groove With You by The Isley Brothers. Long Time Ago takes us on a nostalgia trip down memory.

Switch Da Game samples DeBarge - A Dream. Lil Peanutt switches up his lyrical delivery and flow on Switch Da Game. He is trying to change the game for the new millennium. Peanutt takes us on a nostalgia trip down memory and into the present.

Pre Kay - Livin’ Just 2 Ball - album review

Pre Kay (DJ Pre K) hits us with a new futuristic brehsive sounding rap track called On Dubs on the new Livin' Just 2 Ball. Electronic meets rap on this track called On Dubs. Notice how at the very beginning that Pre Kay uses auto-wah sound effects. Pre Kay masters the technique of using auto-wah sound effects on this track. These auto-wah sound effects are abruptly stopped by hard heavy hitting trunk rattlin' bass. A minute later into the track, you can hear programmed beats laid down. The production is as smooth as Kayne West or Play-N-Skillz to name a few. Texas rap at its finest.

Pre Kay tells us it's a new year for him. So it's time for a change. Now he's chasing new dreams. Pre Kay's dub shine bright like the sun here. So when you see Pre Kay roll down the block, he is rolling on dub hence the title for this track. His Cadillac is on dubs. When Pre Kay rolls up to the club in his Cadillac on dubs people don't know what to think of him. Haters despise.

Climb Aboard has a new funk sound that us listeners will truly enjoy. A piano is used to accompany the beginning of Climb Aboard. Hard heavy hitting trunk rattlin' bass dominates the track. Roll up a swisher sweet and climb aboard with Pre Kay.

The electronic keyboard used on Still Ballin’ 2016 uses the interpolation of Still Dre by Dr. Dre. In fact, the electronic piano keyboard copies the musical notes from the keyboard keys riff from Still Dre. Hard heavy hitting trunk rattlin' bass dominates the track. Pre Kay masters the techniques of using sound effects from electronic music on this track as well on others.

Pre Kay (DJ Pre K) hits us with a new futuristic brehsive album for April 2017. Pre Kay has truly improved his skills in music over the years. Electronic music meets rap on Livin’ Just 2 Ball thus creating a fusion of electronic rap. Think electronic rap when you listen to this album.

Jhiame - Jhiame album review

This album has that neo-soul New Jack Swing sound with an R&B/Soul edge to it. This album came out on vinyl and CD in 1992 on Jhiame Productions out of Houston, Texas. The Jhiame albums production is  very similar to the early 90's production style of Teddy Riley. Jhiame was heavily influenced by Guy at the time of producing his first album. Jhiame was heavily influenced by Guy at the time of his production when he first started out producing for various artists including Goldie and himself.

Rhythm of Luv is a smooth R&B love song that is obviously a slow jam hence the title itself. A mellow R&B slow jam. Jhiame was heavily influenced by R&B slow jams when he produced and wrote this song of his. Rhythm of Luv is a touch of R&B/Soul.

Why U Wanna Change Me Now is about now that they're a couple, the woman wants Jhiame to change his ways. Jhiame ain't up on it. Why U Wanna Change Me Now was possibly influenced from the song Why U Treat Me So Bad by Club Nouveau. Why U Wanna Change Me Now is soul song influenced with old school R&B.

C'mon Babe is about Jhaime getting a woman to love him. C'mon Babe is somewhat obviously similar to Why U Wanna Change Me Now as both songs have obvious similarities in comparison to each other comparatively speaking. C'mon Babe and Why U Wanna Change Me Now were possibly influenced from the song Why U Treat Me So Bad by Club Nouveau.

Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) is a bedroom oriented R&B/Soul love ballad perfectly suited for your lover. The music itself proves to be smooth with Jhiame’s talented production skills. The song Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) is for the sistas.

Much of Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) has an early 90s R&B sound. Added with some organic soul music is some R&B flava along with that Memphis soul sound. To sum it all up, Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) is an R&B slow jam and is yet another sex song. Jhiame was very much influenced with the New Jack Swing sound that was fairly prevalent in R&B at the time. Added with some hip hop flava along with R&B flava is a touch of Memphis soul. As a matter of fact, Jhiame wrote and produced Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) with Wordman along with the help from others lending a hand in production.

The song Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) came from the Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) / Ya! Liv'n Wrong vinyl single in 1990 on Jhiame Productions. The single Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) / Ya! Liv'n Wrong had something for the brothas and something for the sistas, hence the title.

Inner City Blues is a cover version of the same song by Marvin Gaye. Jhiame raps on Inner City Blues at the very beginning. Inner City Blues samples Marvin Gaye - Inner City Blues and The DOC - The Formula which you can hear clearly if you focus your attention on the samples used along with Jhiame’s production. Jhiame was influenced by Marvin Gaye’s song Inner City Blues when he first produced his own cover of Inner City Blues for his first album.

Jhiame represents Jhiame Productions as he raps about his production company in the very beginning of the song. Rap meets R&B/Soul on Inner City Blues. Jhiame sure knows how to captivate his audience with flows in his own raps. Other than that, Jhiame sure knows how to captivate his audiences attention with his soulful sound.

If you are looking for or longing for longevity, then you will be disappointed as this Jhiame album has only has 8 songs. Most of this album is short. However, if you are a fan of long obscure R&B/Soul, then this Jhiame album is perfect for you. Most Jhiame albums are overlooked and overshadowed by R&B/Soul fans in general altogether. The Jhiame album is an iconic masterpiece in Houston soul and Houston rap.

Jhiame - Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) / Ya! Liv'n Wrong single review

Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) / Ya! Liv'n Wrong came out as a single on vinyl in 1990 from Jhiame Productions. Jhiame was very much influenced with the New Jack Swing sound that was fairly prevalent in R&B at the time. Added with some hip hop flava along with R&B flava is a touch of Memphis soul. As a matter of fact, Jhiame wrote and produced the whole single with Wordman along with the help from others lending a hand in production. The single Doesn't This Love (Feel Good 2 U) / Ya! Liv'n Wrong has something for the brothas and something for the sistas, hence the title.

Ya! Liv'n Wrong critiques how the brothas live their lifestyle. Many brothas are just living wrong and living raw. Jhiame takes no shorts or no losses as he calls people out throughout the track while criticizing them at the same time. Ya! Liv'n Wrong is for the brothas.
