Lez Moné - Talkin’ Sh*t album review

Lez Moné tells us how she runs her own and handles her business on Take Care Ya Bizness. The whole track is about how the pimpstress takes care of business every day. Lez Moné tells us to take care of our own business and mind our own business on Take Care Ya Bizness. This track strictly aimed at the nosy people up in everyones business. Take Care Ya Bizness proved to be a hit in the Houston music scene for Lez Moné. The beats and lyrics were so dope! Funky G shit straight from H-Town.

I Flows On is a Lez Moné posse cut involving herself and other including the smooth Harvey Love, rapper 2-Fancy, 350, and 88 Fingers. The smooth Harvey Love stands out the most on this Lez Moné posse cut. And so does 350 and rapper 2-Fancy.

Lez Moné is straight talking shit on the phat title track Talkin’ Sh*t. Lez Moné lets it be known she likes it rough. She is busting at the hood rats. She takes us on a nice and slow Gulf Coast journey on Talkin’ Sh*t. The beats and lyrics were so dope. Talkin’ Sh*t is more West Coast sounding and oriented than fans of both southern rap and Houston rap would think. Funky G shit straight from H-Town.

Lez Moné has a good voice with an incredible flow on Sprung. Sprung is influenced by that West Coast sound. Most of Sprung is about that baby mama drama. The beats were so dope.

Lez Moné takes a pro-black stance on Too Black Too Strong. She experiments with political rap by using a fusion of gangsta rap to the mix. Too Black Too Strong is the political rap cut of the album. Yes, Too Black Too Strong has samples from Footsteps in the Dark by The Isley Brothers. Dig the Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day sample out too!

The beats are simply bangin’ on 3 Hidden Chambas. Also dig the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sample from Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sample was dope. Harvey Love and J Reale were all over the 3 Hidden Chambas track.

The remix for Take Care Ya Bizness is a Houston style Jackin’ 4 Beats. Samples used on Take Care Ya Bizness (Remix) are as follows, Atomic Dog by George Clinton, Bop Gun (Endangered Species) by Parliament, More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp, Freedom by Zapp, Flash Light by Parliament, Sing a Simple Song by Sly & the Family Stone, Trans-Europe Express by Kraftwerk, and It's Yours by T La Rock.

The stellar production was mixed by Richard Johnson, Grizz, and legendary Houston producer Crazy C. Corey "Funky Fingaz" Stoot performs on tracks 1 to 4. Production by and from Grizz and legendary Houston producer Crazy C stand out the most as their production styles and technique are most memorable. Crazy C production truly stands out. Most of the production has a West Coast sound.

Since Lez Moné - Talkin’ Sh*t was released in 1994 by Beatbox Records, the album got lost in the market with other albums. Lez Moné - Talkin’ Sh*t is one the many forgotten rap albums from the G-Funk era that unfortunately got very overlooked. Talkin’ Sh*t has everything you would want or expect from a gangsta rap album. From tight beats, urban ghetto sound, whiney eerie sines, uncouth temper, to raw uncut uncouth lyrics, and dope samples. There are no throwaway songs. West Coast rap meets southern rap on Talkin’ Sh*t.

Artists that stood out on this album were Harvey Love, 2-Fancy, 350, 88 Fingers, J Reale, and 380. J Reale from B 4 Reel and Harvey Love from Woss Ness were all over the Lez Moné album. Harvey Love took over mostly. J Reale handled the spoken word portions.

Lez Moné was very similar to the raw uncut raunchiness of The Conscious Daughters, Lady of Rage, MC Lyte, Bloody Mary, Yo Yo, Lil Mo, and so on. If you love The Conscious Daughters, Lady of Rage, or Yo Yo, then you will love this album! Lez Moné was from the second wave of Houston rap. She was one of the first female rappers from Houston next to Choice, Cl’Che, 380, and others. Lez Mone is a really good rapper!

When being a gangsta rapper did not work out or pan out the way she wanted, Lez Moné went on to become a top realtor of Houston. Today Leslie Hall is one of Houston’s top realtors thus earning the moniker “Houston Top Realtor”.

Lez Moné takes a pro-black stance on Too Black Too Strong. She experiments with political rap by using a fusion of gangsta rap to the mix. Consistently makes her presence known. Too Black Too Strong is the political rap cut of the album. Yes, Too Black Too Strong has samples from Footsteps in the Dark by The Isley Brothers. Dig the Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day sample out too!

Nuwine - As Tha World Turns album review

As Tha World Turns is actually a compilation album and not a Nuwine solo album. Some Nuwine fans thought this album was a Nuwine solo album which is clearly not the case. Nuwine bought a slew of artists to the table with the new wave of Christian ministry and entertainment. Featured artists included on this compilation are Lil Raskull, Stephanie Hogan, Chucky Jenkins, Breadman, Eternal G's, Rock A, Trilogy, and Blackseed. The compilation was on the independent label Wine-O Records in 1998. This compilation was released on CD and cassette. The album was intended to promote the gospel and take it to the streets. The album was also intended to promote God. (The word of God.) Nuwine takes gospel to the streets with this compilation album. The album was never to glorify man.

Rock A produced Mr. No Compromise while Trilogy wrote the song. Trilogy was on the horizon. He is on the horizon with bold truth. The song itself is a bold dark song with a dark mood. His bold attitude is what sets the darkened mood even thought the song has a darkened mood itself. The song speaks for itself. Trilogy tells his audience to be on the lookout! Be on the lookout for him!

Stephanie Hogan comes with a new breeze of R&B/Soul on the songs All I Know and More Like You. R&B/Soul meets a soulful breeze of gospel on these songs. These songs are perfect for the R&B market. Bush Lewis and Ricky B produced both songs for Stephanie Hogan.

Faith Walker was written by Chucky Jenkins. Chucky Jenkins tells us we need to have faith in God and faith in Jesus. Having faith in both God and Jesus will get you through the day slowly. Being the standup comedian that Chucky Jenkins is, he heals the souls with laughter with the comedy of his. It's laughter that heals the soul on this song.

Kenny P - Unfadeable album review

Straight from the streets of Cincinnati, Ohio, (yes, Cincy!), is a kid named Kenny P with his solo album ready to take the soul market by heat with a new breeze. The album itself is a rap soul album. Kenny P does rap soul thing as he is vital on the vocals. Indeed he is vital with his vocals. Clearly he can't be faded while he does his thing. The beats that hold his album together have an R&B/Soul flava. Although the album has more of a soul flavor. The album was recorded from 1995 to 1996. The album was released by Big Boi Records and Mack Time Music in 1996 on cassette. This cassette sold 4,000 copies across Cincinnati. This is one of his rarest dopest albums to date.

Don Diego - Southeast Party album review

Back in the 90s, San Diego rapper Don Diego went under the name Baby Lon Don before he changed his name. This was the same Don Diego before he received nationwide attention on the news for being a fugitive on America's Most Wanted tv show in 2013. Cuts on this cassette were Southeast Party, Rodeo Smackdown, and Nuthin' Nice. Don Diego tells us there ain't nothing nice about him and how there is nothing about the lifestyle he lives on the track Nuthin' Nice. Baby Lon Don gives rappers smackdowns and lyrical beat downs on Rodeo Smackdown.

Jerome Childers - Too Old For Me single review

If you love Tevin Campbell, Lil Johnny, or Quindon Tarver, then you will love the sounds of Jerome Childers. Remember when Jerome Childers was signed to Bad Boy Records back in the day from 1996 to 1998? That is when Jerome Childers went under the name of Jerome. He was a Bad Boy protege under tutelage of Puff Daddy in 1996. (A child protege at that, who was 11.) He wrote songs, produced, and sang on many hooks during his time on Bad Boy. Jerome is most memorable for his singing though. (He produced for Bad Boy Records and Puff Daddy from 1996 to 2000.)

Too Old For Me was the buzz single that led Jerome to have popularity in the spotlight for a short period of time. The soulful single was accompanied by a music video which had featured cameos of Puff Daddy, Keisha of Total, LOX, and NORE of course. Too Old For Me has a catchy beat that is still considered memorable to this day. Production for this song was top notch with no flaw. The remix had a more urban rap feel. The remix had featured NORE and The LOX.

Despite having a buzz single under the most prestigiously known record label of the era, the Jerome - Too Old For Me album never saw an official release as a retail album but instead as an album sampler released as a promo across the United States and Canada. Promo copies of this do exist in limited quantities. The buzz single did not exceed to meet the expectations Bad Boy Records was hoping for in order to become a chart topping success. Too Old For Me has some amazing singing talent with these ballads.

X-Raided - X-Ology album review

X-Ology was a greatest hits album and compilation album Black Market Records used to help X-Raided fulfill his contractual obligations. The album was released after The Initiation album was released during that same year. Most of these tracks were handpicked throwbacks by X-Raided and Ced Singleton. This X-Raided album featured some unreleased material never heard before. Some of the material was leftover material that miraculously did not make it onto other albums of his. If you are an X-Raided fan or completionist, then this album will be perfect for you.

The electronic futuristic recording Here We Come was recorded in 1999. It was a leftover from the 1999 Unforgiven album. Some would think this track would be recorded in the year 2000 or 2001 due tot the futuristic sound, however that is not the case. Here We Come was an X-Raided and Triple Beam posse cut despite X-Raided doing most of the rapping. Here We Come was supposed to be included on the Unforgiven album, but was not at all included for whatever logical reason. Here We Come is quite hedonistic and menacing.

Here We Come was recorded on an illegally acquired DAT tape recorder inside Soledad State Prison. That is why the vocal quality is so clear. Both X-Raided, Hollis, and KG produced Here We Come. Although KG handled most of the production outside prison walls. KG takes credit for production for the most part.

Where You At is a leftover track from 2000 Vengeance Is Mine album which is an X-Raided solo cut. You can tell by the clear vocals inside the production that the track is from his 2000 album. The vocal quality is crystal clear. Hollis and KG produced Where You At. Both of them were responsible for post production of Where You At as they were outside prison walls. The sound and mood is not too hostile ironically. The beats and chirping crickets help give off an easy mellow vibe despite the track being on a gangsta rap album.

X-Raided reminisces on his childhood in Sacramento, California on Where You At. The details are graphic and violent. He boasts that the city's murder rate is so high. Murders are a common day occurrence in the capital of California. Nevertheless he gives loves for his city as he holds his weight down on his own tracks. He hold it down on this one.

As The World Turns is an unreleased track that again was produced by KG. It is unclear which album this track was intended for though. The track is not too hedonistic. The beat is quick and fast paced at an adjusted rate of 89 BPM. KG was responsible for producing most of the unreleased tracks that were included on this compilation.

The man who produced I Ain't Dead Yet is none other than LA Chill better known now as Trumptteezee. Yes Ill was LA Chill who produced the classic Xorcist album back in the day. LA Chill has gone under various names in his career as a producer such as Ill, Chill Will, Trump Tight, trumptz, and Trump TeeZee. No Ced Singleton did not produce I Ain't Dead Yet. The only thing Ced Singleton did was put that Xorcist album out. Da Misses can be heard at the very end of the track.
