Bloody Mary - Day Of Resurrection album review

Bloody Mary - Day Of Resurrection was released on CD in 2003 by none other than Dangerous Records. Day Of Resurrection is one of the lesser known albums from the Dangerous Records catalog along with Benni Banks. Day Of Resurrection is a compilation album that was a “double play” album with 23 tracks. Ronnie Ron, Captain Geek & DJ Noise, Leroy Dukes, and DJ Battlecat, produced a majority of this album which is why you hear his & others work all over this album. (Although it was Ronnie Ron that produced damn near this album.) Belizean rapper Big Stretch is all over this album. So are rappers Moe-B and Ms. Bonnie. Big Stretch is all over the album in fact. (This is the same Bloody Mary that appeared on Bloods & Crips - Piru Love just to set the record straight.)

Crabs Keep On Slipping (Closed Casket) is a diss track aimed at the Crips gang. Blood gang members retaliate against rival Crip members on wax. Which is exactly what Bloody Mary, Redrum781, and Red Rag (now Big Wy) do. They take shots against other rival gang members by going up against them on Crabs Keep On Sliping (Closed Casket). [Crabs is a derogatory name for Crips.]

Crabs Keep On Slipping (Closed Casket) was a leftover cut that did not make it onto the final cut of the Bangin’ On Wax album. Bloody Mary, Redrum781, and Red Rag were featured on Crabs Keep On Sliping (Closed Casket). Although Bloody Mary was featured on this cut, she however, does not rap but is instead included in the hook. Redrum781 and Red Rag take charge of most of the track. They are the ones that rap all over Crabs Keep On Slipping (Closed Casket).

Bitch Get Lifted is a B Brazy/Bloody Mary duo cut although B Brazy performs most of the rapping donning the track into a B Brazy solo. Some B Brazy fans and Bangin’ On Wax fans regard Bitch Get Lifted as a B Brazy solo track. B Brazy is all over the place here.

A funky James Brown sampled is looped all over Bitch Get Lifted. The track Bitch Get Lifted seems to be overall James Brown inspired. Ronnie Ron must have been inspired by the funky sounds of James Brown when he produced this track in 1997. Bitch Get Lifted is a perfect song to listen to with bass boosted. Bitch Get Lifted came from Ronnie Rons' Gangsta-Lation Album in 2000.

Kill Crabs 4 Fun has an old school hip hop feel with brazened wild Jamaican vocals. Bloody Mary and Ms. Bonnie rap with a faux Jamaican patois accent on Kill Crabs 4 Fun. Kill Crabs 4 Fun has an upbeat Jamaican style punch to an upbeat vibe and upbeat beats. Kill Crabs 4 Fun sampled Buck ‘Em Down by Captain Geek & DJ Noise. Captain Geek & DJ Noise from DJ Battlecat’s East Side Tag Team production crew produced Kill Crabs 4 Fun in 1993 for the Bangin’ On Wax album. Of course, Kill Crabs 4 Fun is another leftover from Bangin’ On Wax.

Kill Crabs 4 Fun is about how Bloody Mary kills Crabs (Crips) for fun. She kills Crip gang members just for the fun of it. Kill Crabs 4 Fun is another diss track aimed at killing Crips. Bloody Mary and Ms. Bonnie are all over Kill Crabs 4 Fun as Moe-B and Big Stretch are.

Fruit Town Brim Shit was a leftover cut from the 1993 Bangin’ On Wax album. This track was a track that did not make it onto the final cut of the Bangin’ On Wax album. Fruit Town Brim Shit features Fruit Town Brims (Bloods) gang members Big Stretch, Lady S, Ms. Bonnie, Moe-B, Finders, and Stretch. The beat gets overall annoying and repetitive after a while. It seems wholeheartedly that most of the rappers were not putting forth their best effort when rapping on this track.

Piru Luv 2002 is mainly Piru Luv revisited. Only this remix of Piru Luv features Los Angeles rapper Big Stretch and Big Wy (then Red Rag). Now for those who didn’t know, Bloody Mary made her national debut on the music video and song "Piru Love" in 1993 along with rappers Lil Stretch, Redrum781, and CK (Lil Leak). She was featured on most of the first Bangin On Wax album.

Crabs We Wreck is another where Bloody Mary uses a faux Jamaican patois accent when rapping. Crabs We Wreck is another leftover from Bangin’ On Wax. Game of Mackin is the sample used on Crabs We Wreck. It’s another Crips diss track. Bloody Mary, Ms. Bonnie, Finders, and Big Stretch are all over Crabs We Wreck.

Put Dat On Da (B.) is Blood gang posse cut featuring Bloody Mary, Ms. Bonnie, Finders, Tiny Stretch, Moe-B, and Big Stretch. Put Dat On Da (B.) uses a Captain Geek & DJ Noise sample.

Murder 1 (On A Punk Mutha Fucka) features Tweedy Bird Loc and Bloody Mary. Murder 1 (On A Punk Mutha Fucka) came from Tweedy Bird Loc’s 187 Ride By album in 1992. Break Ah Mutha Fucka Down came from the She’s Dangerous album.

Bloody Mary - Day Of Resurrection is basically b-sides and leftovers from other albums and tracks. Many are recycled verses over recycled beats. Most tracks came from the following albums such as Nini X - She’s Dangerous, Tweedy Bird Loc - 187 Ride By, Tweedy Bird Loc - No Holds Barred, and Bloods & Crips - Bangin’ On Wax. There is really nothing too special about this album. If you were looking for or at least expecting 100% new material from this album, then you’re out of luck. So don’t feel shortchanged if you were expecting much. So if you are a collector, buy it. Day of Resurrection is perfect for Dangerous Records collectors.

Now the Bloody Mary - Day Of Resurrection album is very hard to find to the point you will be lucky enough to find the album on eBay. Sales for this album run in the hundreds (over $100) when sold on eBay. That’s how rare this album is. So if you are a music collector or just a fan, buy it!

*Tracks 2, 4, 5, 6, 14, and 17 are can only be found on this release and nowhere else.
*Track 15 was lifted from Ronnie Rons' Gangsta-Lation Album.
*Bloody Mary is Nini X.

Bennie Banks ‎– Play By Play album review

Bennie Banks ‎– Play By Play is a gangsta soul album where hip hop meats gangsta rap music with a touch of smooth soul that is not too sultry. Overall the toughness of gangsta rap match up with the smooth soul balancing out the gangsta rap with the soul sound from a musical point of view. Play By Play is an album composed, written, and produced by Bennie Banks. All 18 tracks were composed and produced by Bennie Banks.

Bennie Banks released this album on a joint venture through Dangerous Records and Bar None Records. Play By Play was released from a Bar None Records/Dangerous Records joint venture. Bennie Banks is Benjamin Allen who comes from the East Side of Los Angeles, California. He is a producer, songwriter, composer, and vocalist.

Born In The Hood (I'm Die In The Hood) is how Bennie Banks is going to live and die in a hopeless cycle of poverty. He lives a life of hopelessness in the ghetto as there is no chance for him to make it out of the ghetto. No, Born In The Hood (I'm Die In The Hood) is not a rags to riches story. It’s about living a life of hopelessness while entrapped inside a hopeless vicious cycle of poverty. He thinks because he was born in the ghetto that he will die in the ghetto. The hook is a masterpiece. Anything by Bennie Banks can be recommended for DJs!

Bennie Banks spits out politics of the game on Game 101. Game 101 is about the game of life, the politics on the game of life, politics of the drug game, politics of the crime game, politics of the business game, and music game of course. Overall Game 101 is about the game of life.

Player 2 Player was inspired by the song Look Listen To Your Heart. Such smooth soul is blended and incorporated into Player 2 Player. The chorus is smooth and the sound sure is pleasant. The sound sure is smooth. Player 2 Player is recommended for DJs! Player 2 Player is a “listen to your heart” type of song.

My Love is a short sweet mellow love song written, composed, and produced by Bennie Banks. Bennie Banks uses his Soprano voice on My Love. He showcases himself very well on this love song of his. The hook is a masterpiece. My Love samples The Stylistics - Stop Superior Carry.

Bennie Banks experiments and showcases using his Soprano voice on Benji Soprano. The sound sure is smooth and is sure pleasant.

Playaholic and 4 The Paper are a drugs, money, and sex type of tracks. Booty Hoe's is an up in the club, mature, sex type of track. Hey Ho! is an up in the club anthem.

Stacy G. ‎– One Man Riot album review

Stacy G. was the first rapper from Las Vegas, Nevada to have an album out that received major distribution on a nationwide basis. His album was distributed by Pump Records in 1990 as that is when the album was released. The album was released by KQ Records and Pump Records. One Man Riot is early gangsta rap and hip hop from Las Vegas, Nevada predating Doomsday Productions, Playah J, and 187.

Big Dale (Dale Mitchell), Fila Al, and Stacy G. produced a majority of this album while DJ Scratch was in charge of the vinyl scratches you hear on this album. Most of this album is hip hop oriented with a touch of gangsta rap. Stacy G produced damn near the whole album himself. Stacy G is a pioneer in Las Vegas hip hop and Las Vegas rap.

I’m That Nigga was the select hit single for this album. I’m That Nigga was selected to be a single because Stacy G chose to do so himself. DJ Scratches is responsible for the vinyl scratches on I’m That Nigga. Other than that, I’m That Nigga is a Las Vegas style Jackin’ 4 Beats.

Gangsta Poetry features spoken word and gangsta rap from rap pioneer Stacy G. Spoken word meets gangsta rap on Gangsta Poetry.

Ain't Nothing Like This features KC and the Sunshine Band which is truly an odd decision for a someone to feature on a rap album. Ain't Nothing Like This samples KC and the Sunshine Band. Having a track or song sample KC and the Sunshine Band is pure genius!

Stacy G. ‎– Desert Storm album review

Desert Storm was an album that was inspired by the aftermath of Operation Desert Storm enacted by the US Navy. So he appropriately titled this album of his “Desert Storm”. Stacy G. came up with the front cover concept for the album cover to his sophomore album. Desert Storm was politically inspired by Operation Desert Storm. Now Desert Storm was released in 1998 on CD. The beats are absolutely fucking dope. Most of this album is gangsta rap oriented and politically conscious. He takes a jab at political rap on this album.

G-Len - Woop Woop album review

G-Len (Len Smallwood) released his first and debut album on The Family Records from New York City, New York, and Dangerous Records in 1995 on CD and cassette. G-Len produced most this album himself. Ronnie Ron was instrumental in producing this album and getting him a small regional/nationwide distribution deal for his debut album. Ronnie Ron for the most part was not as “hands on” for this Dangerous Records album as he focused more on Tweedy Bird Loc, Jon Jon, Lil Hawk, B Brazy, Damu Ridas at the time.

Despite regional/nationwide distribution, Woop Woop more than less stayed in circulation as a hood classic in the Los Angeles area and Inglewood area. His album never really left beyond that area despite being a high demand album in the international market of music in countries such as Japan, Finland, Sweden, Algeria, Taiwan, Belgium, or Germany. His debut album goes for more than hundreds of dollars (> than $100).

Woop Woop is gangsta rap at its finest. It you are looking for tight beats over gangsta lyrics with a funky rhythm, then G-Len -Woop Woop is perfect for you. The beats themselves are funky. Gangsta rap fans will enjoy this album. Woop Woop has that Dangerous Records production sound since G-Len and Ronnie Ron produced most of this album. The production and sound is what made this particular album a hood classic in other words. Kenny McCloud served as the engineer for this album. Rodney Taylor was responsible for all those funky saxophone riffs you hear on this album.

Woop Woop is the Blood gang posse cut that defined this album and made it an LA hood classic in the year of 1995. G-Len, Mr. Dulo, June Dawg, and B Brazy each have a verse. Woop Woop was a term popularized by the Denver Lane Bloods and Figueroa Blood Gang. Bloods started the term “Woop Woop” which eventually became “Suwoop” in the 2000s. The song Woop Woop played a big part in music whether people are willing to admit that or not. Woop Woop was the LA anthem of 1995. G-Len produced Woop Woop.

A funky bounce beat is used to accompany the song Woop Woop. Samples used are George Clinton - Atomic Dog and Zapp - More Bounce To The Ounce. Although Woop Woop tends to sample Atomic Dog by George Clinton more rather than sampling More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp. The beat sampled is More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp which is sped up to an upbeat pace. Apart from the beats, the flow was just sick!

G-Len comes back in yo ass with some gangsta shit on Woopin. The beats and flow was just sick. The production is low budget and so is the sound which is why the volume along with treble have been reduced. The beat sampled is More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp which is slowed down to much delayed pace. (Not to mention Woopin was made back in the mid 90s.)

Woopin is underground rap at its finest. Woopin is can be motorized as an example of gangsta rap from the 90s. Woop Woop and this song are one of the best songs on the album. G-Len never hesitates to come out with that real gangsta shit. Especially on Woopin!

G-Len is an example of gangsta rap. Peep the first verses below.:

back up in yo ass with that gangsta shit
Westside
Woop Wooop
is my gangsta clique
I’m not jaggin,
just flagin saggin in my 66 rah with my 44 mag foo'!

For The Money is a sex, drugs, and money type of rap song. The song itself is centered around greed. Greed and capitalism are the themes. Greed is what exactly leads to downfall at the end of this song. The song ends up with 5 people dead due to a quintuple murder. G-Len seemed to have been inspired by Bone Thugs N Harmony when he wrote For The Money. For The Money is a classic example of gangsta rap. The saxophone riffs will send chills in your bones. The saxophone accompanying the beat is simply fantastic!

For those who did not know or are not currently away behind the backstory for the song, For The Money is based on a true life event about a quintuple murder in Inglewood, California on the date of June 15, 1992.

A quintuple murder occurred during a drug transaction on 3600 block of West 109th Street in Inglewood, California. The drug transaction went bad. So in the end, 5 people got killed. The victims were 3 men and 2 women that were found lying dead in an apartment in the 3600 block of West 109th Street around 3 PM. All 5 were killed execution style in the head. A "substantial" amount of cocaine was found in the apartment. It was a robbery gone bad.

Inglewood police detective Russ Enyeart believed that brothers Victor Herd (b. Nov 11, 1960 – ) and Purvis Herd (b. Apr 3, 1966 – ) were the shooters but as yet, they have yet to be charged. Both brothers have never been charged with the murder crime. There have been no leads as to who else was associated with this criminal act or crime committed.

From a June 16, 1992 edition of the LA Times newspaper is a news article with headlines “Crime: Neighbors report hearing bursts of gunfire. Police find the bodies of three men and two women.” claims this drug related killing to be “the worst homicide in the city's history”.

G-Len made a tribute to Big Laniak in the song For The Money. G-Len made tribute to those who were killed in the song For The Money as well. The people G-Len is making references to are the following: Nicole Elizabeth Thrower (Koko), Jimmy Lee Lewis (Kricket), Shane Wheeler (Laniak 1), Molynthia Smith (Mo), and Pedro Angel Lopez.

*Nicole Elizabeth Thrower (Koko) was 17 when she was killed during the deadly drug transaction occurring at the time. She was the youngest among the people who were murdered. Nicole “Koko” Elizabeth Thrower lived from January 29, 1975 – June 15, 1992.

*Jimmy Lee Lewis (Kricket) was 24 when he was murdered in the drug transaction. He was killed in the same block of West 109th Street along with others. Jimmy “Kricket” Lee Lewis lived from March 25, 1968 – June 15, 1992.

*Shane Wheeler (Laniak 1) was 23 when he was killed in the drug transaction. Shane “Laniak 1” Wheeler aka “Big Laniak” lived from July 26, 1968 – June 15, 1992. He was set up and killed. He is the older brother of Laniak II (Lil Laniak 2) who died on October 23, 1995 after being killed by Campanella Park Pirus.

*Molynthia Smith (Mo) was among 2 females that were murdered during a quintuple murder in Inglewood, California during the same drug transaction. Her age was 19. She lived from April 25, 1973 – June 15, 1992.

*Pedro Angel Lopez was an Inglewood drug dealer. He was 22 when he got killed. Laniak invited him into Nicole’s house to purchase cocaine.

G-Len pays tribute and homage to famous black heroes on Fallin’ Hero. For instance Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, OJ Simpson, Magic Johnson, Mark Morrison, Rick James, Oprah, and Montell Williams just to name a few. G-Len pays tribute to famous black heroes that dubbed as fallen heroes. The track itself has a negative vibe to it. Fallin’ Hero has a dope sample by Earth Wind & Fire.

The media can make you or break you by taking you up to the top and then snatch your ass right back down to the ground. If you are black, the media will snatch your ass even furthermore. G-Len expresses distrust against the justice system as he does not trust the system.

Pass Da Blunt seemed to have been inspired by Rick James, weed, and hip hop music. Many samples are incorporated into Pass Da Blunt making the song Pass Da Blunt an Inglewood style Jackin’ 4 Beats. The sample used in the background throughout Pass Da Blunt is Rick James - Bustin Out. The whole song seems to have been inspired by Rick James - Bustin Out henceforth the used sample. The hardest nigga with a Jerri kurl called B Brazy is on Pass Da Blunt. Pass Da Blunt showcases the best of G-Len and B Brazy.

G-Funk has a such a sick beat over pure dopeness. Overall G-Funk is a brehsive track. The beat is a sick beat.

The only problem with this album is the number of interludes included inside of this album. 3 interludes are plenty. 5 interludes are way too much as the interludes distract the listener away from the musical content on this album. That is why 5 interludes is way too redundant. That is the only flaw within this album by G-Len. 3 interludes would have been plenty. The production was low budget, but that does not prevent the Woop Woop album from being a hood classic.

Woop Woop is one of the many best albums from inside the golden era of G-Funk. Apart from the beats, the flows were just sick! There were no gimmicks within this album. G-Len and his homies expressed themselves by showing the world the crazy lifestyle they had/have been living. Shit was real. No acting or none of that fakeness you see or hear about today. Big corporate radio fans, TV fans, and mainstream fans will not like, value, or understand this album.

Bob Marley & The Wailers ‎– Legend album review

Bob Marley & The Wailers ‎– Legend is one the best albums in the history of reggae music. Hands down! Every song included inside this album is a classical masterpiece. The Legend album itself is a classical masterpiece. All reggae fans should have this album in their music collection and so should all music collectors. Buying this album is something you won’t regret! Every song on this album is memorable.

Is This Love is one the most unabashed flamboyant love songs in the history of reggae music. Is This Love is a reggae love song performed by Bob Marley. The song itself is filled with love and passion. Bob Marley & The Wailers were sure passionate about it when they were writing this reggae love song.

No Woman, No Cry is a heart-breaking reggae classic. The live version from the London Lyceum concert is the best live version ever! The gospel organ is the most memorable instrument in this song that will leave a long lasting impact to your memory bank.

Could You Be Loved is about self-awareness. Could You Be Loved is an ode to self-awareness. The song Could You Be Loved was highly favored in Britain and America.

Bob Marley gets both political and historical at the same time on Buffalo Soldier. The beats have a bouncy vibe often found inside reggae music. The story is about how black men were being conscripted, forced, and bribed into the ranks of the Union Army to kill Native American Indians. Black men who were Africans were being conscripted, forced, and bribed into the ranks of the Union Army during the American Civil War from 1861-1865. These black men were being conscripted to kill Native American Indians. The cruelty in this reggae ballad is ironic and iconic.

NOFX - So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes album review.

Part of the problem is the production sound of the album. That's why it did not have huge success. The production sound and style was average at best. Production did not really stand out all that much. All Outta Angst is about dealing with angst. The is angst ridden henceforth the title so on. Kids of the K-Hole is a song that got overlooked by the rest of the album. Despite being a fan favorite among NOFX fans, music critics disagreed so otherwise by referring to it as a 2/5** star album (2/5** album). This NOFX album is another one that got overlooked and underrated by most rock fans. Other good songs are Eat The Meek, Quart In Session, Kids of the K-Hole, and All Outta Angst.
