Gangsta Nutt ‎– The Lost Hard Drive EP EP review

Exactly The Lost Hard Drive EP is 3 songs that were recovered and not remastered from the hard drive of Gangsta Nutt. The hard drive Gangsta Nutt used to record his last had album crashed and was years later saved. However only 3 songs survived the hard drive crash. These 3 songs were recorded in the raw dirty, gritty streets of Seattle, Washington by way of Tacoma, Washington. The Lost Hard Drive EP is something new for 2017! This is Gangsta Nutt’s unmastered masterpiece showcasing talent of his than no one has ever heard before or seen before.

Gangsta Nutt gets raw and real on Keep Your Head Up. Gangsta Nutt gets real deep here. Dundeal Entertainment's R&B sensation J-Shep lends his vocals for the catchy hook on Keep Your Head Up for which he is responsible for. J-Shep is responsible for the verse ”All you gotta do is pray." . Producer Macc Dundee reminds us about West Coast legends and pays homage and tribute to the best from the Northwest and beyond. Keep Your Head Up is a perfect inspirational song.

Gangsta Nutt gets raw and real deep on Testimony. Testimony is one of his most realist songs to date. In fact, Testimony is one of his most deepest emotional songs to date. He gets emotional on Testimony. Gangsta Nutt is Seattle's beast on the mic! He delivered such powerhouse range and skill as always. Testimony was the final song which was recorded at the Dundeal Entertainment studio.

NOFX - Ribbed album review

This album was released in 1991 which after their 1990 album. The songs are awesome and they kick ass! Sadly, there are some downsides to this album. There are 3 downsides to this album with the 3 being that the songs were too short, some of the production was off key, and vocals could not be heard. NOFX has a penchant for fast music and dirty jokes, but this album’s duration was too fast. This album is not as great as the others. Ribbed will remind you of Self Entitled from 2012. That album had the typical hard edge punk rock sound, penchant for fast music, and the dirty jokes of course.

Lil Raw ‎– Murdacine EP review

Lil Raw ‎– Murdacine was released cassette locally in 1998 in the Racine, Wisconsin area. Murdacine was a demo for Lil Raw at the time. Murdacine glorifies the shock value of murder rap and thug rap along with gangsta rap music. I would say so myself and so would you. Wisconsin always had that raw underground rap sound you could get used to that never received much airplay on the airwaves and got overlooked. Lil Raw’s demo tape is no exception.

Junie - Funk Rappin Affair album review

Funk meets rap on this 1993 album called Funk Rap Affair. It’s a funk music meets rap music collaboration for this album or rater EP due to the lack of songs in tracklisting. That s the exact reason why funk rap elements along with funk rap can be heard on this album. The album itself is a dope album.

Funk Rappin Affair was produced by Calvin C. Cazenave aka "Caz" and Junie himself.  He was in his early teens when he wrote and produced his first album. The album released on cassette only in the Sacramento area in 1993.

Lil Willie & The Keynotes - It’s Good To Be Back album review

After extensive touring and traveling on the road as a New Jersey worship band, Lil Willie & The Keynotes are glad to be back home. It’s Good To Be Back is filled with religious gospel melodies, religious worship, church praise, and Christian hymns. They surface with such acclaimed praise and tributes to fallen ones whom are deceased. Religious worship and praise can be heard throughout the album on the angelic harmony chorus.

It’s Good To Be Back after extensive touring and traveling on the road as Lil Willie & The Keynotes put it. Lil Willie & The Keynotes are glad to be back home from touring the United States along with Canada. Life on the road can be tiresome and troubling. That comes with the pressure, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and energy. It’s all part of the package. Their band members spirits, minds, and souls are in the right place when it comes to praise and worship.

Melody is a hymn filled with Christian worship & praise. Melody is an appropriated titled track for this album. It fits the albums theme of tribute along with worship & praise.

God is Good is a melodic hymn of Christian worship & praise worshipping God. God is good and life is great. Life is grand. God is Good is filled with positive acclaim and religious praise. The band does surface well with the angelic chorus in harmony.

Michel’le ‎– Michel’le Album Sampler album review

Michel’le ‎– Michel’le Album Sampler was an album sampler put out on Death Row Records in 1998 to promote the R&B/Soul album called Hung Jury by Michel’le. There is a lack of her Minnie Mouse-like squeaky voice on this album unlike the last album. The only song on here with her signature Minnie Mouse-like squeaky voice is Crazy. Single highlight tracks were Hang Tyme, Can I Get A Witness?, and Crazy, The album's production sounded out of date at the time it was released. The album is good, but not great. The New Jack Swing era was long over at the time this album was released.

*[Michel’le is pronounced Me-Shell-Lay.]
*[Michel’le ‎– Michel’le Album Sampler came out on CD only in 1998.]

J-Mac ‎– BO$$ Hoggin album review

J-Mac ‎– BO$$ Hoggin came on CD from Pup Dog Records based outta Arkansas in 1998. J-Mac himself a raw rapper that released another raw underground rap album such as this one here. If you are looking for explicit raw underground rap, then this album is the right album for you. Old school beats over G-Funk sines and sounds is what this album contains. The underground rap sound is prevalent here too.

Playa D - Something 2 Ride 2 single review

Something 2 Ride 2 is smooth Midwest rap over G-Funk from Omaha, Nebraska. Both sides of this cassette have killer tracks. Playa D will remind you of Tech N9ne in his early days. Playa D is very similar to Too $hort and Tech N9ne. The smooth G-Funk sounds give Playa D a smooth pimp type of flow. Something 2 Ride 2 is something for the ballers and shot callers to ride to.

Playa D must have been inspired by Too $hort when he wrote Something 2 Ride 2. Something 2 Ride 2 is a track geared towards car boppers and car freaks. Playa D has a smooth pimp type of flow all throughout the track. Smooth G-Funk sounds can be heard on Something 2 Ride 2.

Let Me Ride samples Let Me Ride by Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg. Playa D must have been inspired by both Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg when he wrote Let Me Ride. Playa D has a smooth pimp type of flow all throughout the track unsurprisingly. It’s no surpise that those smooth G-Funk sounds can be heard on Let Me Ride. After all this song was recorded in 1997.

Driftin is a track that calms the album/single down into a smooth subtle mood. Smooth is one word to describe the track called Driftin.

Vontel - Vision of a Dream album review

What stands out about this 1996 album is the production! DJ Battlecat produced a significant majority of songs on this album. Battlecat did a phenomenal job producing such superb songs. With Battlecat you can never go wrong. His beats are the shit! They are superb. Roger Troutman not only produced a handful of Vontel songs but lent usage of his vocoder on some Vontel songs which is why you can hear Roger Troutman using a vocoder on some songs. Roger Troutman of Zapp guest stars on 2 tracks. Everything Roger Troutman produced and performed on is pure genius and is pure fire! Smooth G-Funk sounds can be heard on this album. The album, of course, is G-Funk inspired. The beats are exciting even without hooks.

Vontel is a fresh breeze of originality. He keeps his lyrics consistent by flowing with originality. His truly unique vocals help him stand out on his debut album.Vontel is a perfect representation of G-Funk. Vontel has a smooth R&B type of voice you would acquire inside of soul music. Vontel also has a smooth subtle tenor in his voice on this album a smooth pimp type of flow and drawl.

Every fan of rap music should have this album in their music collection. It’s just that good of a classic masterpiece. Vision of a Dream is an album you will regret sleeping on. Vontel - Vision of a Dream is one of the best albums in Arizona R&B and Arizona Rap! Overall the album is tight.

However this album is not very easy to find. Vision of a Dream is an extremely rare album because the album is no longer in print. Vision of a Dream is one of those HTF OOP albums in collectors terms. The Vision of a Dream album sells for hundreds (> than $100) on the online market. The Vision of a Dream album is a high in demand album in the international market of music in countries such as Japan, France, Spain, Australia, Belgium, or Germany.

My Homies guest stars Roger Troutman of Zapp. Roger Troutman uses a vocoder on My Homies. R&B meets rap on the My Homies song. My Homies is a perfect representation of G-Funk. A blended element of doo-wop music is added at the end. Everything Roger Troutman produced and performed on is pure genius and is pure fire!

R&B meets rap on Loungin. Loungin samples Kingpin Skinny Pimp - Midnight Hoes. Vontel has a smooth pimp type of flow here. Loungin is perfect for the car boppers and car freaks. R&B meets rap on the Fo Life song. Fo Life is a perfect representation of G-Funk.

Maestro - The Light album review

Maestro - The Light is a Kansas/Mississippi classic R&B masterpiece. It’s smooth R&B suited to soothe the soul. The album contains a smooth sexy R&B/Soul vibe, sound, and feel. The smooth sexy R&B/Soul vibe is what sets this album apart from most R&B/Soul albums in the music market. One would have thought an album from the US State of Kansas would not be so R&B oriented.

What’s so special about the album is the number of bonus tracks included. Specifically, there are three bonus tracks included with this album. Three bonus tracks are Sexy Instrumental (Bonus), I Just Got This Thing (Bonus), and Sunday Afternoon (Bonus).

The instrumental for Sexy Dancer is included as a bonus track on this album. The instrumental for Sexy Dancer is a lounge music type of song that meets the R&B/Soul genre. Sexy Dancer is known as Sexy Instrumental (Bonus).

Sunday Afternoon is another bonus track included on this album. It’s similar to LSOB - Chillin’ On A Sunday Afternoon. The vibe has similarities to Sunday Afternoon by LSOB. I Just Got This Thing (Bonus) is a sex song.

Danny Boy - It’s About Time album review

Danny Boy - It’s About Time is one of those perfect albums for when you and/or your lover is a romantic mood. Danny Boy is known for his soulful romantic mood ballads as that is what he was primarily known for back in the 90s. The Jodeci styled production sound can be heard all over this album which is no surprise because DeVante Swing produced 3 songs on this album. The mood for this album is relaxing.

Death Row Records and Suge Knight really dropped the ball on promoting South Carolina artist Danny Boy properly. Better promotion was needed for this album to prosper. It was due to Suge Knight's crack addiction, sheer stupidity, changes in musical styles, and his piss poor marketing skills the album was constantly pushed back and remained unreleased for 15 years until 2010 when WIDEAwake acquired the album rights from the Death Row Records company for a high bid from a 2008 auction when the company’s assets were being sold to various record companies such as Koch Records, Interscope, and E1.

If Death Row had released this album at the in 1998 when it would have gained more popularity and recondition  then it wouldn't sound as old. Dr. Dre should have been a producer on this album. We need his voice in R&B/Soul today because most R&B/Soul sucks today. The New Jack Swing era was long over at the time this album was released. Sadly the album did not meet up with the success of other Death Row albums during their heyday and popularity.

The album features pre-recorded songs from the 1990s with contributed production from DJ Quik, DeVante Swing, and Dimitrius Shipp. Songs from this Danny Boy album were recorded from 1994-1999. Jodeci member DeVante Swing produced songs such as If U Don't Mind, It's All About You, and Just Ride. DJ Quik produced the Come When I Call (Remix) with George Archie.

Da Unforgiven - Left Lane Livin' album review

Da Unforgiven comes from the US State of West Virginia which is a weird state of quirkiness. No one would expect an artist such as this one to have a rap album come from West Virginia. Mr. Mike (of Texas 2000 fame) produced a majority of this album and a handful of tracks. Michael T. Crawford produced a handful of tracks as well. Some of the lyrics are subpar. The album, of course, is raw underground rap.

Brohamm - Ball Beyond 99 album review

Ball Beyond 99 is a raw underground Alabama rap album hailing from the Dirty South with some Dirty South rap sounds. This album itself is a representation of Southern rap. Brohamm is true southern hip hop/rap at its finest. Production for this album and lyrical concepts really stand out sharply on this album by Brohamm. DJ Bad co-produced Ball Beyond 99. This 27 track album is nothing but raw real rap not recommended for the weak minded people. The message for this album is as listed in the liner notes.: “Don’t let all you know be all you learn.”

The only problem with this album is the number of interludes included inside of this album. 3 interludes are plenty. Maybe 4 interludes at best. 12 interludes are way too many as the interludes distract the listener away from the musical content on this album. That is why 12 interludes is way too redundant. That is the only flaw with this album.

Yaggfu Front - Action Packed Adventure! album review

In 1994, Yaggfu Front from North Carolina released an action adventure packed album appropriately titled “Action Packed Adventure!” on Mercury Records. The style is hip hop with a rap sound. The album begins with Fanfare & Previews preparing their audience for the upcoming attractions or in this case tracks. Fruitless-Moot makes a moot point as this track is wack. The classic song Sweet Caroline is included on this album. Slappin' Suckas Silly (LP Remix) is a goofy rap freestyle. My Dick Is So Large! is the bonus track that acts as the ending for this album.

Bullet & Shaolin - Small Town Livin' Big City Game album review

Bullet & Shaolin came from a small town in North Dakota. The album has a laid back smooth type of flow. The production is solid. U Aint Done Shit is where the duo wrecks havoc and shit. Let Me Ride is a tight catchy track. Eastside Riderz is the obvious posse cut with the entire Eastside Records roster of recording artists. Funk Daddy produced I Want You.

Unexpected Arrival - Unexpected Arrival album review

In from the desolate lands of South Dakota is an R&B group whom has released title of their album the same name as their group. One would not expect an R&B group such as this one to have come from desolate lands of South Dakota. Unexpected Arrival is one smooth R&B album that is relaxing. The melodies are smooth. Producers who contributed to production were Undercaste, Kraneum, and Noah Mass. Millennium is a prime example of a perfect R&B/Soul song. The melodies are smooth and vocals are on point. Millennium is the album’s highlight track. Fans of R&B/Soul will instantly fall in love with the song Millennium. The Arrival On showcases the groups talent as a posse cut. The groups strives to show potential on song The Arrival On.

Alias & Ehran - Lillian album review

Lillian is a collaborative album with hip hop producer Alias and multi-instrumentalist Ehren hailing from the US State of Maine by way of New Hampshire. Jazz meets electronica on this album with a slight touch of hip hop music. Drum loops accompany the percussion ensemble/selection for the instrumentals on this album. Alias produced the beats of course. Synths were something else he was responsible for producing.

There is an Eastern influence on Most Important Things which is distinct due to the woodwind selection from instruments such as the flute and clarinet. Instruments such as the flute and clarinet can be considered distinct if a certain presence is present.

Moonfuzz is a relaxing jazz instrumental that will relax your mind and soothe your body. Moonfuzz will soothe your body and soul too. The song Moonfuzz is not too boisterous, heavy, or vibrant. Moonfuzz is vibrant with a shimmer sound. The song Moonfuzz itself is jazz inspired. The saxophone accompaniment for Moonfuzz is appropriate for a song such as this one.

Gary Peacock - Guamba album review

Gary Peacock from Idaho releases an album called Guamba. Gary Peacock - Guamba is a jazz album that was released on ECM in 1987. The Gary Peacock - Guamba album is one of the many unknown jazz albums out there in the market of music. The title itself is a giveaway that Guamba is a unique jazz album.

The song Guamba starts off with a guitar playing a single monotonous note in a sad mood. Guamba has that hot desert feel similar to a song off a movie soundtrack. Guamba is one of those songs you would hear from a movie during a scene in the desert hence the “lost in the desert” type feel. A single acoustic guitar is used throughout the song Guamba. Requim is a jazz instrumental perfect for the late night whether you have gotten off of work or just in a saddened mood. Gary Peacock recorded the song Requim in Tokyo, Japan on the date of April 5, 1971. Lila is the longest jazz composition on the Guamba album.

The Kentucky Headhunters - Stompin’ Grounds album review

Stompin’ Grounds is the least successful Kentucky Headhunters albums to date aside from their independent albums. The only single from the Stompin’ Grounds was their cover of Guy Mitchell - Singin' the Blues. Even their cover song as a single itself was unsuccessful. Both The Kentucky Headhunters and BNA dropped the ball right here. After all, the key to a successful album is a good record label.

The flaws for this album were a lack of singles and lack of promotion.More singles were needed to have made this album a better success instead of just one single. Better promotion from their label BNA to promote the Stompin’ Grounds. BNA dropped the ball on The Kentucky Headhunters for failing to promote this album correctly in a timely manner. If Mark S. Orr had not left The Kentucky Headhunters band, then the Stompin’ Grounds album would have been more of a success. BNA dropped the ball on promoting this album correctly.

John Mayer from Montana released an album sampler called Heavier Things Sampler in 2003. The album sampler featured 3 live songs that were recorded live. The 3 live songs were Neon, Clarity, and Come Back to Bed. For some reason, Aware Records, Sony, and Columbia decided to a bunch of live songs to this record. Most likely form a sales point of view. boysetsfire - In Chrysalis EP review

The In Chrysalis album was released in 1998 as an EP. On this EP is where boysetsfire gets political. Political rock meets the sound of post-hardcore rock on this boysetsfire. The political mood comes from songs The Tyranny of What Everybody Knows, Cavity, and Holiday in Cambodia (Dead Kennedys cover). Boysetsfire gets political especially on songs such as The Tyranny of What Everybody Knows and Holiday in Cambodia (Dead Kennedys cover).  The Tyranny of What Everybody Knows has a theme of anarchy and tyranny.

Kaskade - Strobelite Seduction album review

Kaskade from Utah released a deep house styled album in 2008. The house music for this album is deep house. Strobelite Seduction can be considered as a deep house album and a dance music album due to its upbeat vibrance, yes. Its upbeat vibrance makes Strobelite Seduction sound similar to dance music album at times with certain songs such as Step one two, Pose, Move for Me, Back on You, Pose, Borrowed Theme, One Heart, and Angel on My Shoulder.

Move for Me with Deadmau5 is a highly vibrant deep house styled song perfect for the dance floor. The beats are vibrant as well. Electronic production inside Move for Me does shimmer but not with distortion. For some reason, Move for Me has a soulful sound. The song is of decent caliber. It’s another night out on the dance floor for both Kaskade and Deadmau5.

Angel on My Shoulder is where things start to pick up on this album. The volume is suddenly set to higher level without warning. Angel on my shoulder is another highly vibrant deep house styled song perfect for the dance floor. The female vocals on Angel on my shoulder both angelic and breathtaking. Angel on my shoulder is a breath of fresh air from the shitty EDM music of today. House music fans will appreciate this deep house styled song.

Back on You samples the soulful song I’ll Be Around in a deep house styled manner with fresh updated electronic production found inside house music. The song shimmers with 8-bit distortion in some parts of the song similar to Step one two. Overall, Back on you partially relies on 8-bit distortion sound.

Step one two is a perfect dance song whether you are a fan of house music or not. Fans of dance music truly genuinely enjoy Step one two. The song shimmers with 8-bit distortion in some parts of the song. Step one two is another vibrant upbeat deep house song.

Pose is a bass driven styled deep house music song. The song itself relies on a bass ridden presence heavily. Sythns are quite lively on this deep house song. In some parts of the song, samples of 8-bit distortion are used. Pose is quite lively at times. Primarily overall, the song Pose relies heavily on the presence of heavy bass and deep house electronic synths. The presence of bass used sets the song Pose apart from all the other songs off the Strobelite Seduction album.

The song I Remember is a slightly calm song where things start to calm down despite its fast paced BPM. Its fast paced BPM make the song I Remember an upbeat dance music styled house song. Of course the deep house element is still present.

Borrowed Theme is where things start to calm down. Borrowed theme is a song that calms the whole mood down for the album despite its fast paced BPM. The song is perfect for calming down the albums mood for the entire album. The female vocals used on Borrowed theme are angelic perfect for calming down the albums mood. Kaskade is a genius for such an idea.

The song I'll Never Dream relies primarily on electronic synths that you will surely find in deep house styled music or house music in general. The song I'll Never Dream is an upbeat dance music styled house song of course. I'll Never Dream get sentimental by going down memory lane.

One Heart is where things start to pick up again. The song One Heart heavily relies on beats, electronic music, and dance music from its upbeat mood and vibrant sound. The song One Heart heavily relies on percussion overall. Kaskade never fails to impress with songs such as Move for Me, Back on You, Pose, Borrowed Theme, Step one two, and Angel on My Shoulder.

Your love is black starts off with a violin ensemble at the beginning. Your love is black is where things start to calm down as Your love is black is a song that calms the whole mood down for the album. The song Your love is black is perfect for calming down the albums mood for the entire album. The female vocals used on Your love is black are angelic and perfect for calming down the albums mood. Kaskade is a genius for such an idea. The acoustics accompany the beats.
