L-Dog - Da World Iz Yourz album review

Da World Iz Yourz came hard for the year 2003 and 2006! L-Dog and donron are OGs from SA.

L-Dog is a rapper from San Antonio, Texas. He's been in the game since 2000. L-Dog is San Antonio's most underrated rapper next to Chilly-D, Tizzy, K9, Sweet-P, Lady Lunatic, glo, and Lil Sin. Anyway, the producers on this album are L-Dog, donron, and Big Boi. (donron is the main producer.) Featured artists are Lil Chris, Chilly-D, Big Boi, donron, Denise White, Dirty, and Lil Dog.

The Intro starts and ends with a gunshot. The drums and beats are superb! The Intro was so dope! 2003 was a good year even though the music industry was going to a digital download market. The Intro samples Suzanne Vega - Tom’s Dinner.

We Ride is for all the riders out there. Da World Iz Yourz showcases L-Dog's lyrical style. The drums and beats are dope!

L-Dog and DoMoe Records will be at your door making' all y'all niggaz lay down on the floor with a tech 9 and a .44 on the song At Yo Door. Get it how you live. This is one hardcore neo-gangsta rap song. Think 50 Cent and WC when you think of neo-gangsta rap.

Make Me Wanna Holla is angry hard track. Solid Ground is pretty lyrical.
Pass Da Sticky is a smoke session song. The following melody was smooth and slow. Pass Da Sticky sounded a bit chopped and screwed. It was bit short.

Brotha Fucka was a so-so track. It was kind of timid. It was about a backstabbing bitch named Shareefa (Sharita?) who would fuck you and yo brotha. She was so cold like dat. What U Wanna Do is a party track. Haten On Me is about all the haters.

Da New World is a biographical track as the Intro, Da World Iz Yourz, and China Girl are. The beginning has that doom suspense sound with an Inception like trailer. The song talks about how L-Dog and donron were barred and banned from the industry! Pussy, Money, & Da Mic talk about L-Dog's ambition to be a rapper.
A Whole Notha Level is a crunk club song. At the being in of the song, it reminds of the Black Eyed Peas song Pump It. You will love it!

China Girl is about a Chinese Girl that L-Dog met at a flea market of a places. Her daddy was a millionaire in Tokyo. He watched her do yoga and martial arts. All dat good shit. The song gets very sexual at the end. Think of the song Delancy Street by Dana Dane when you listen to China Girl. The Indian sitar used this song is on point.

Wicked Thang is a sexual song about a girl. Wicked Thang features Wicked T. Hard Times Awaiten features Denise White and donron. Fuck hard times! He Say She Say has an old timey 1890s/1900s sound to it. Strictly 4 Dem Hard Headz and Bedtime Story are both lyrical songs. L-Dog displays his storytelling skills greatly on both tracks. Both are of the hook!

Waiten 4 Da Moment calms down the albums mood as it goes into a downtempo mood. The reverb chorus is on point. This is the best track off the album. The echoes have a very chilling effect. The last song, Anotha One Afta Me, features Lil Dog, who is L-Dog's son. It's more of an Outro.

This album definitely went under the radar! L-Dog has material that everyone can relate to. Get this album if you haven't!

Nicole Wray - Boss Chick album review

This Boss Chick album by Nicole Wray was released on Playmaker Music and Danizha from Atlanta, Georgia in 2010. A lot her music with Danizha was released digitally during the 00s and 2010s. A lot her music has been released independently.

Boss Chick is a collection of songs that Nicole Wray recorded from 2002 to 2010.  These songs were leftover cuts from her unreleased albums such as Lovechild, Changes, Nicole Wray, Young Talented & Beautiful, Miss America, and Kill Cupid. As well as her Independence Day album/mixtape in 2006 on FOE and Playmaker Music. Nicole Wray fans always refer to this album as a mixtape even though it does not look like one. The word "mixtape" tends to cheapen things. I don't feel the same way though.

(This is the clean version of the album called Boss Bitch. It has different artwork and different songs that this one. A lot of profanities were cut out from the ones that were on Boss Bitch and a couple of songs were altered and deleted for the clean one.  Miserable People was left out on this version. So pay attention closely and just listen.)

Anyway… On with the album.
Who Are You is one of those fast paced songs to ride your bicycle to. It is 2 minutes and 45 seconds long, which makes it kind of short. Nicole Wray reintroduces herself to the R&B game for 2010. This song is also to all those haters out there that have been hating on Nicole Wray. She was living in the ATL at the time when she recorded this song and even refers to herself as an ATLien! (Note the OutKast reference!) This one was recorded in 2010.

Wash Away is one of those depressing songs to wash away your pain to. Nicole Wray tells us why she wants to wash away all her pain inside. It feels like Russian Roulette to the dome (head). There is a zither/koto playing in the background. This one was recorded in 2010.

Pandora's Box is a fun mystery song. This song sounds like it was recorded in 2008 or 2009. Focus from Aftermath Entertainment produced this song. If you listen closely, you can hear the drums and beats sample to Computer Love by Zapp. Pandora's Box sounds like a dreamy love song. Focus does a great job on this song.

Ms. America is a song to the ladies when their man made them feel like Ms. America. This song was from the Miss America era. The song is for the ladies out there who feel famous. Ms. America is a song that speaks for itself.

Money is a song that speaks for itself. Money is something we all need! Money is a necessity. Gotta get that green. This song is for the strippers out there in them strip clubs downtown or wherever you at. For all them sexy pole dancers. That sums up this song here.

He Must Know is a slow jam and a club song. It's a perfect song to play on a boat cruise or in a restaurant. This song is definitely a perfect song to play in a restaurant during the day or at night! It will remind you of a soft Beatles Song. This song was done in 2007.

Drums is a love song. It has very loud beats. This sounds like it was recorded in 2010 even if it sounds a bit distorted.  It's another great song! You'll love it! You can get to love the distortion a bit.

Callin' has either a Curtis Mayfield or an Isaac Hayes sample at the beginning. It needed a music video to go along with it. Another 2010 song. If you listen closely, the bassline has is sampling The D.O.C. - Let The Bass Go.

Dice Roll was on the 2006 Independence Day album. Dice Roll features rapper Young Fell. It's a bit shorter than the original version on the Independence Day album. It's a sad mid tempo song about real life and reality. Everyday is just another hustle.

Eye Candy is one of those 2010s rave club songs. On of those hot party clubbin' songs as some people like to call it and refer to as. All the girls want to be like Nicole Wray.

I Like It is the hit single for this album! I Like It samples 2pac - I Get Around. It has a 90s feel to it. I Like It was recorded in 2009. I Like It had music video to go along with it. This whole song is bananas and off the hook!

The last song is Back Up Against The Wall. Back Up Against The Wall was a song that was supposed to be on the 2005 Lovechild album when Nicole Wray was signed to Rocafella Records and DDMG. As you all know that didn't happen due to the Jay-Z and Dame Dash feud between 2004 and 2006. Which sucked. Back Up Against The Wall features UK hip hop/rap group SAS. Back Up Against The Wall was recorded in 2002. Back Up Against The Wall needed to have a music video along with the song.
(SAS was signed to Rocafella as well when Nicole Wray was there. SAS was also known as Eurogang. SAS was also signed to Cam'ron's Diplomats Records in the mid 00s.)

Even though this album was mostly a collection of leftover studio sessions and unreleased songs as well as new songs, it's better than no album at all. Nicole Wray fans should be thankful this album got released.

Sin Loc - Smell The Smoke, See The Fire album review

For those who don't know,  Smell The Smoke, See The Fire by Sin Loc was supposed to be released in 1999/2000 on Gotcha Bakk Records and Big Game Records, but due to the decline of gangsta rap in the music industry and distributors not wanting to take this project on, it remained unreleased for 14 years. This album was released in 2013. Production was done by Funkysoulbrotha, Black Jason and Sin Loc. This is perfect G-Funk.

Also Sin Loc was the G who wore the Freddy Kuger mask in 1993 on Steady Dippin', Piru Love, and Bangin' On Wax. Sin Loc was one of the rappers on the Bangin' On Wax project series. He was on the Crip side for the project.

Sin Loc tells us he's well and alive reppin' the CPT on Still Rollen' with Black Jason. Tredding Water is another good song. 4 Ya Hat showcases Sin Loc's lyrical talent. The bass goes super hard. So do the beats. Great use of the Big Lurch sample on the title track Smell The Smoke, See The Fire.

Cheddar is biographical song of Sin Loc's life. It's all about survival in the dope game even when that shit don't work. Ain't nothing funny when you're broke. Straight up reality here. Another track laced with G-Funk beats. Black Jason and Lil D (Sin Loc's son) are featured on this song.
Just Bounce is a song to floss to in your ride whether it's on Dayton Rims, Caddilac, or Regals.

Win, Lose, Or Draw to me is about making decisions in life. Basically about making choices. Dead On They Ass is a hit'em up 187 song with fast paced G-Funk beats.
Snoring samples Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing. Super Rhymes 1999 samples Jimmy Spencer - Super Rhymes. Super Rhymes 1999 is the best song on this album!! Straight From The Heart is a dedication song to Eazy-E.

Tredding Water, 4 Ya Hat, and Super Rhymes 1999 should have been singles. Too bad this wasn't released in 1999 as Sin Loc had planned.

Bad Mutha Goose and the Brothers Grimm - Be Somebody EP review

Be Somebody maxi-single/EP by Bad Mutha Goose and the Brothers Grimm. was released on cassette and LP in 1991 on Alpha International Records. Bad Mutha Goose was a rock/funk band out of Austin, Texas in the 80s and 90s. Bad Mutha Goose will kind of remind you Sam Salter in some way. Production was done by Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo and Tim Kerr. Tim Kerr and Yoggie Mosgrove were the brains and bread behind Bad Mutha Goose. Most of the messages on this EP are quotes that a motivational speaker would say.

Be Somebody was the song that everybody played at house parties in Austin back in the 80s. Be Somebody is the lead single and title song of this funky vernacular EP. We all know that everyone in life has ups and downs. The only way to keep your head above water is to set your mind right. So try a little harder. When times are tough, you gotta get tougher. Set your mind right if you have envision a dream you want to achieve. You gotta keep pushin’ along in life.

Be Somebody is an educational taste of motivational philosophy. Be Somebody is about being someone and just being yourself. Just let yourself be original and don't be fake with the rest of the people in modern society. To set your mind right. Just be original. Just let you be you. Be Somebody! Get out there and do something! It's better than doing nothing at all really. This is the jam! Most of the messages in this song are quotes that a motivational speaker would say.

Pride was a song about having pride in who you are and what you are. Such as pride in being black, being gay, tall, fat, obese, obtuse, or whatever. It didn't matter who you were. You don't ever hear this type of funk in music anymore in this day and time. Reach down deep search for pride within yourself. Search deep into your soul. You got to be proud of life and not full of hatred.

Sometimes the truth is just meaningless chatter as told and described by Bad Mutha Goose on Time To Get. We’ve come a long way but we still have a long way to go. There is a minority of us of that have mental power to not be spineless zombies. It’s just us and laziness that holding us and each other back.

Bad Mutha Goose describes to us on the last song called 100% (%100) that life is only what you make of it. When things aren’t going good for aren’t going your way, they could be worse. Give it your all by giving 100%. Life is up to you. Only you can make those actions and decisions. When your life is through, people will remember you by all the things you have done.

Sonny Bo - Evolution album review

Evolution album by Sonny Bo is filled with the New Age Electronic sound mixed with Techno music from San Diego, preferably SESD. It is 'sharp' as Sonny Bo himself puts it! Johnny Rain is a frequent featured artist on this album.

A lot of these songs are aimed and marketed to the audience of younger women who are college age. Is other words, a lot of the songs are dedicated to females in the club in the freaks out there. Especially for those freaks in the club that be up at 2 in the morning.

The Evolution Intro is so cold. It reminds of winter freezes in Antarctica along snow breezes in the daylight. The beats are on point and productions is very superb. The intro song is way ahead of it time.

Paranoia is a love song. Jhene Aiko is on My Mine and Mirror which both are off the hook! How Alone, Somewhere, and Alone are desolate songs. Stargazing is a lovely song. It is just a cold as the Revolution Intro at the beginning. Jhene Aiko should have been on this song. She should have been on the hook.
