Buttabean - The Album album review

The Album was released on CD and as a digital download in 2007 from Wreckin The Mic Recordz outta Waco, Texas. This album has a more mellow, chill, laid back vibe to it than an aggressive country rap sound he normally utilizes as on his other albums. He showcases his sexual side with use of sex rap in songs such as Shake It Girl, Dirty Slut, Talk To Me, Move Ur Body, I Ain’t A Ho, It Feels So Good, and STD. He gets into an intellectual mood with songs Sticks & Stones, STD, and Talk To Me.

Buttabean is Texas rap, white boy rap, and country rap at its finest. Buttabean is the Bubba Sparxxx of Waco rap. The sound will rock your speakers. Buttabean’s music has the lyrical genius of Eminem, with the melodic tone of Z-Ro, and prowess of Paul Wall. This album is Eminem and Paul Wall mixed together with some more gangsta type of flow, which is what’s used on this 2007 album. There’s something for everyone on this album of his. This album is and remains one of Buttabean’s most forgotten overlooked albums of all. It’s well worth to listen to.

Buttabean’s The Album is an older album of his which didn’t sell as well as Psycho Therapy, Underground Champ, Role Model, or Texas Slang did. Which is why Buttabean believes this is his best album of 2007 and it meant a great deal to him to have recorded The Album.

Remember Them Days reminds me of Gonna Be Alright by San Antonio rap group P.K.O. That’s what the ballad sounds like in that song except this version is an acoustic cover of The Floaters - Float On which is what Remember Them Days samples. Buttabean delves into the past from childhood on this song of his. Remember Them Days was written in 2006.

STD is a cautionary tale of why to avoid getting an STD. Buttabean uses his own experience of how he got an STD on the song STD. Having unprotected sex is what gave Buttabean an STD. Now for those who did not know or are currently aware of, an STD is a sexually transmitted disease. People get STD’s from having unprotected sex. STDs can cause death.

Sticks And Stones is an educational rap song about how sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you. “Sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you.” is the message Buttabean is trying to convey. Sticks And Stones has an intellectual mood. The song Sticks And Stones had the melodic tone of Z-Ro.

I'd Rather Feel Pain is about learning harder lessons in life. His music is an expression of lessons in life. I'd Rather Feel Pain is a sad dark song that teaches us a lesson in life. Sometimes you’d rather feel pain than guilt.

Dirty Slut can be noted for its usage of heavy bass and solo violin ensemble. It’s both the usage of heavy bass and solo violin ensemble that stand out the most. Shake It is a great song to dance to. It is perfect.

Candy Fresh - We Wanna Get Paid (Up The Money) EP review

This EP was released on vinyl only from Two Sweet Records from Austin, Texas in 1990. Baby Luke and Wink D produced this EP for Candy Fresh. This EP has that Miami bass sound laced with dance music.

Candy's Groove is an instrumental track sampling James Brown Getup Offa That Thang & The Big Payback. The track is only 3 minutes long though. [Candy's Groove is actually the instrumental for Revenge (I'm Mad).]

Do The Get Busy is a fast paced upbeat dance electronic rap song. This rocked the parties in Austin back in the 90s. This was often played at house parties. The bass is strong. Get Busy has that Miami bass sound. Probably going at 130 bpm.

Now this ones for my ladies out there! Ladies have wants and needs the same as men do. It's not always about the men. I'm tired of the same ol' same ol'. Ladies wanna get paid on We Wanna Get Paid (Up The Money). We Wanna Get Paid (Up The Money) has that Miami bass sound also!

*[Two Sweet Records was run by Baby Luke as a side project . The artists that were signed to Two Sweet Records were Baby Luke, Candy Fresh, Wink-D, Lil Troy, Lil Buzzy, and SK.]

*[Stanley K. Cobble was known as Baby Luke. He was the promoter for 2 Live Crew, Luke Records, Lil Troy, Candy Fresh, and SK back in the day. That is why Baby Luke has ties with the media/entertainment in Miami. And that is why this album has that Miami bass sound.]

Homie, You Ain't Got An Ounce Of Mack In You has Candy Fresh attacking guys that she considers chumps. She hit em hard with this one. Similar to how Choice of Rap-A-Lot dissed many male rappers in the 90s on her albums.

Do It Again is a cover song of Staple Singers - Let’s Do It Again performed by the one and only Candy Fresh. This was often played at house parties. Get Off Samples Foxy - Get Off.

Heather Hunter - The Unexpected album review

Heather Hunter is mostly known for her porn career in the adult film industry She’s appeared in numerous films & is the first African American woman to be inducted into the Adult Film Hall Of Fame.

Heather has never been shy of her past. She embraces the sexual industry part of her, as well as the mainstream. She pretty much keeps it X-rated all the way thru the album. The whole album is sexual rap with a electro-pop sound. The reality is that most folks won’t get passed her past. As fellow blogger Herban Lyric stated, “The reality is that what Heather did in real life is what most of the things that Lil Kim could only brag about doing in her records. The problem is that most folks won’t get passed her past.”

DJ Premier and Scott Storch were responsible for the production on her album. Scott Storch is an underrated producer. The production is halfway decent. Not too bad.

Suk-A... was produced by DJ Premier and Scott Storch and features Akinyele. In fact, Akinyele co-produced Suk-A…. Scott Storch is proof of good production.

Girl On Girl is about lesbian sex and is dedicated to all the lesbians out there. Girl On Girl is perfect for some girl on girl action. Whether it be tribadism, breast docking, or scissoring. Girl On Girl is perfect for some hot scissoring action.

Big Sugar - Big Sugar album review

The Big Sugar album is a blues album with reggae fusion thus resulting in a reggae/blues crossover. It’s a reggae/blues. The fusion inside reggae for this album is very powerful. The whole album seems to be a blues/reggae fusion.

Now Big Sugar is a reggae/blues crossover band from Alberta, Canada by way of Yukon, Canada. It’s very rare to hear a reggae band crossover into a different music genre other than rock music or world music let alone a reggae/blues band. It’s not that often that you get to hear a reggae/blues crossover band. It’s not as if their record label dropped the ball on this band because there is hardly a market for reggae/blues crossover bands. Which is probably why the Big Sugar album did not make a dent in the market commercially.

This album can be considered as an example of a forgotten product lost in the music market. Which can be solely blamed on a lack of promotion regardless of being signed to an independent record label or a major record label. The music market overlooked this album from Big Sugar.

Come Back Baby is a blues song backed by a reggae horns selection. The horns selection was perfect for accompanying the blues song. The horns selection have that bouncy Reggae rhythm and sound to them. In fact, the horns selection fits the pace of the percussion perfectly. Come Back Baby seems to be a blues/reggae fusion. Blues meets Reggae on Come Back Baby.

Stardust is a swan 5 minute long blues instrumental backed by a single note rhythmic guitar. The acoustics on the guitar seem to be balanced.

Sleep Too welcomes us with a soothing delicate vocal delivery. The vocals are performed solo by one of the 3 members of the Big Sugar band. The vocals are the highlight for this song.

Just About Sunrise has a reggae fusion in the vocals over backing of blues music. However the song more closer to a blues song than blues/reggae fusion itself for the most part. The gritty blues sound does not help out the curious if they wonder whether or not Just About Sunrise is a reggae or blues song or not.

Shot in the dark is an absolutely wonderful soothing jazz song performed by Big Sugar. This Big Sugar song can be soothing to ones ears. Shot in the Dark can be noted for the gentleness of its nature.

So Many Roads has a bluesy feel to it with a sad vibe. Which is not surprising because it is a blues song. Fans of blues music will truly enjoy this song. The gritty guitar used helps give off this song a blues vibe. This song can be noted for the gentleness of its nature.

Reggae meets blues on the song Groundhog Day thus turning it into a reggae fusion. The song itself is not too bland. The guitar used have that bouncy Reggae rhythm to them. Groundhog Day has a raw blues sound to it.

Nowhere To Go is similar to 50s blues and what you would expect to hear from John Lee Hooker. John Lee Hooker meets 50s blues.

Round Midnight is similar to the raw gritty 50s blues & 60s blues you would expect to hear from John Lee Hooker. The raw gritty guitars give away a distant feel commonly heard in Reggae.

Goodbye Train is sad heartbreaking blues song. It is about a man never getting to see his girlfriend again. He walks her to her train only to come find out he will never see her again. Let alone her from her again. That is the premise of this Big Sugar song.
