Mixerr Album Reviews #135

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review T-Lye - I Gotstakickit.  T-Lye is an artist from Sacramento. T-Lye was on Sick Bay Productions in 1994. Which E-Moe, Sicx, and Big Hollis were on as well. They a part of Sick Bay Productions. Sick Bay Productions has artists from the Bay Area and Sacramento. Sick Bay was active from 1994 to 1998. E-Moe and Big Hollis did the productions on I gostakickit. E-Moe did the drum programming on the I Gotstakickit song. I Gotstakickit EP was only released on cassette as a demo in 1994. T-Lye was 16 when she recorded her demo.

I Gotstakickit is about the day in a life of T-Lye. It's about how T-Lye kicks it with the Sick Bay Crew. It is filled with super heavy G-Funk bass along with that Bay Area sound. Think Mobb Music and gangsta rap filled with hip hop beats. Street Wize is about T-Lye's knowledge of the streets. Female vocalist Tasha B. makes an appearance on this song. Then it cuts into a snippet of a shorter version of I Gotstakickit. Street Wize is a 3 1/2 minute song. Any beats done by E-Moe are always on point. Big Hollis has done stellar production too. Tasha B. reminds me of a little of R&B.

I don't know what went down with Sick Bay Productions or why T-Lye did not release a full album. Maybe it was just for fun or maybe the money wasn't right at the time. It's such a such shame that artists like this get overlooked. This EP was too short for me and the fans.

I rate this EP, I Gotstakickit, 4/5****.
