This is Michael Mixerr. Today I'll be doing a review on Nicole Wray's Make It Hot album.
For those who don't know who Nicole Wray is, she was the first artist to sign to Missy Elliott's Goldmind Inc. in 1998 other than Missy herself with Timbaland's production team Timbaland and Magoo. She and Missy were from Portsmouth, Virginia. Nicole had a blazing hot song called Make It Hot. (Which hit #7 on the BillBoard!)The next that hit the BillBoard was I Can't See. The third song Eyes Better Not Wander did not do as well because it was slow jam with no fast paced beats by Timbaland. That song was produced by Smokey of Playa. If Nicole had used In Da Street and Seventeen as singles and made those songs into music videos, the album would have gone platinum. Seventeen should have used as the third main single instead of Eyes Better Not Wander. She focused more on the single Make It Hot rather than the album.
In the end, it was Nicole Wray got the unfair deal in the music business. She had to suffer the consequences of being dropped by Goldmind Inc. and Elektra Records. Luckily, she is now signed to Truth & Soul Records (known for Lee Fields fame) with Terri Walker (of Def Jam fame) in a duo called Lady. I hope things work out for Nicole Wray.
My ratings for this album, Make It Hot, is 5/5*****!
