This is Michael Mixerr. Today I am going to review Da Plug by Big June. Da Plug was an EP that was put out on cassette and CD in 1994 by Repo Records. Repo Ric was Big June's manager at the time and Repo Ric also ran his record label called Repo Records and a hypeman for his Repo Boxing. Big June already had 2 cassette singles out called Big June Nigga and Straight Jackin' in 1992 which were in included on this and the Nightrider EP I'm reviewing as well. Production was done by Repo Ric, Dr. Devious (Dr. Dev), and Steve Vicious.
First of is the intro to Night Rider which repeats Big June N-I Double G-A over and over on a sample of More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp. Screams, screeches, tires peel outs, gunshots, ammo, and bullets can be heard in the loud background. I didn't like it too much because it got annoying real quick. I could not listen to it for the duration of 2:23. It is chaotic.
Night Rider is a song off of another Big June EP on cassette called Nightrider. Big June was a young rider creepin' in the night. He does it at night because that's when young motherfuckers get gunned down. He keeps 16 in the clip. Big June is form the Wicked Ass South East streets of San Diego when the gangstas kick it! So don't get caught slippin'!
Da Plug was a swell song. It was good. It is a well memorable song with huge heavy bass. The remix of Straight Jackin' is an unpolished unfinished version of a remix with a More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp with that G-Funk heavy sound. Battle Rap was Big June spitten rhymes fast! It's only 2 minutes long though. The radio version of Night Rider slaps harder!
I rate this EP/album, Da Plug, 4/5****!
