Mixerr Album Reviews #423

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review The Greatest Flames by the one and only Lil Sin aka Ronnie Warner Jr.!
This was released on CD by SoufField and nationally distributed by Select-O-Hits in 2006. This CD is available in stores and online unlike many of his other albums with the exception of Livin'-N-Sin. The Greatest Flames is basically a "greatest hits" compilation of hits handpicked by Lil Sin.

Momma Don't Worry is a track that Jhiame produced. Jhiame even sung on this track. You can hear Jhiame's soulful voice really stand out on this track right here. It's not really the best track to start the album with. The Game Iz Mine would have been a better track to start off the album with. Just because the track The Game Iz Mine has the title "The Game". Momma Don't Worry is often referred to as Momma Don't Cry by many Lil Sin fans.

Free is another song. This is the remix version of Free and NOT the original version from Who Got Yo Back on BLVD Records. This version of Free is more crunk and bounce music oriented than the original from 1998. Both versions are off the chain! This song was a hit back in San Antonio and in the state of Texas during 1998 to 2000. This song features both UGK members Bun B and Pimp C (R.I.P.) with their trill flows.

Who Got Yo Back is about who really has your back and who doesn't have your back. Be careful who you make friends with and who you're friends are. You can hear the sounds an alien UFO weird loopy sound, the Chinese zither, a Koto, a tambourine, and bells. I love the production style on this track!

Texas Boys features both Big Mello and SPM. A great Texas Rap combination! (This song was done before SPM got locked up.) Big Mello and Lil Sin should have done more tracks together. Lil Keke would be an appropriate artist for this track.

Trapped In The Balla features SoufField label mates Mr. Joshay, Cashus, and Lil Sin. SoufField gets mentioned too. (That's Lil Sin's label right now.) Trapped In The Balla is very similar to Fly, Danga, Momma Don't Worry, and Who Got Yo Back.

Fly has that 70s feel of funk to it. Fly features the female duo NOLA (Knuckleheadz). They are from New Orleans, Louisiana. I can hear a hawk in the track. The guitars are great. You just want to be free as a bird on this song right here.

The soulful Billy Cook makes an appearance on Platinum Plaques. If Jhiame and Billy Cook had been on the same track, it would have been an epic combination! Because they all represent the great state of Texas!

On Frustrated By Death, Lil Sin learns that death is inevitable. He sees things clearly in a whole other world. His sanity is gone. Ricé, a well known producer from San Antonio, is in the background vocals. I love the heavy synths used on this song. Ricé sure knows how to put together a masterpiece song. Frustrated By Death was death themed with a dark mood with heavy lyricism and gangsta rap.

Danga is another underrated track along with Fly. The song gets fast paced real quick. Danga is very similar to Trapped In The Balla.
On Hustla No Mo, Lil Sin shows us he is not a hustler anymore. Like I said! Them niggaz is scared. Haters be runnin' wild. The Game belongs to Lil Sin right now as currently speaking. Lil Sin represents the city of San Antonio, Texas on this track.
On Mind Keeps Wondering , Lil Sin wonder what life is like in the afterlife. Lil Sin wonder what happens to him after death. I love the production skills! Denise James is singing the background vocals.

If Lil Sin had included songs from his Young Namar albums instead of songs from the My Secret album, this compilation would have been a lot better.
I rate this compilation, The Greatest Flames, 4/5****.
