Mixerr Album Reviews #524

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the single called Duck Down by Boogie Down Productions. This single was released on Jive Records in 1990/2005 on CD and vinyl.

You say ah-one for the trouble, two for the time, it's time to duck up or wind down! It's time to duck down!
Pal Joey and D Square are in the house! KRS-One writes his own lyrics instead of having a team of ghostwriters doing his songwriting for him as KRS-One always does. That's how you know this song will be a hit. Which Duck Down proved to be as the music video was played in heavy rotation on MTV and BET. His crazy fresh lyrics will want to make you get up. KRS-One is a great motivational speaker. KRS-One speaks poetry fluently whereas the other rappers do is mainly swear.
This song had inspired Buckshot of Black Moon to name his record label Duck Down when he had founded his own company back in 1995. Duck Down is a Hip Hop classic!

Like A Throttle, KRS-One tells us about record companies and producers will play you out your money and certainly punk you. KRS-One doesn't need gimmicks or tricks when he step in the jam up on stage. Other MC's have half-assed hits with crazy lyrics over the hype crowd. None of them as quite as lyrical as KRS-One or D-Nice. Boogie Down Productions displays a lot of lyricism on Like A Throttle.

KRS-One isn’t advocating drug dealing nor recommending it on the Drug Deal track.nAfter the Prohibition era, different white European immigrant groups became powerful through organized crime by mostly through bootleg liquor, smuggling in alcohol from Canada, and of course speakeasies. Every race gained financial stability on a large scale except blacks. That was due to no unity.

I rate this single, Duck Down, 5/5*****!!
