Mixerr Album Reviews #544

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review the Mr. Short Khop album called Da Khop Shop from 2000.

Local artists whom were featured and made contributions towards this album were Los Angeles/San Diego/Long Beach's WC, Kokane, Ice Cube and Kurupt.

I can see why TVT Records did not give this album heavy promotion in the music industry and mass media. There were simply too many artists that wanted their cut of the dough for their guest artists features, appearances, and contributions towards production. Just because DJ Battlecat and Ice Cube was all over this particular album doesn't make it any better. Kokane sure didn't help recuperate for the un-charting failure of this debut album either. Most of the songwriters intent was not very original. The same tired overused clichés are used over and over again throughout the entire album. Only a handful of West Coast Rap fans actually liked this album and I was not one of them as this album did not live up to my standards.

Lil Cease - The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo is the right way of having so many guest artists features, appearances, and contributions. By having the right musical sound to match the drums and beats necessarily needed. Right samples and interpolations needed to be used as well. The right artists with intellectual ideas are much needed for this formula of success too. Mr. Short Khop - Da Khop Shop is NOT the right way of having so many guest artists features, appearances, and contributions.

I rate this album, Khop Shop, 1/5*.
