This is Michael Mixerr. I am going to review Truth - The Truth Hurts.
Gospel duo The Truth released an album in 2002 called Truth Hurts on Grapetree Records when the label was on its last leg during its heyday. That's why the album did not sell very well from a sales point of view nor did the album receive any attention from fans or music critics alike. It was due to lack of financial backing and lack of marketing that The Truth Hurts album was a flop. Unfortunately later in the year of 2003, Grapetree Records folded. Not only did the label downsize, but The Truth also unknowingly signed away the rights to their duo name, songs, and The Truth Hurts album to Knolly Williams.
The Truth chose to dedicate their gift back to God. So that God can get the glory out of their music. In this album, The Truth talks about having traveled around the world promoting the goodness of Jesus Christ. The goodness of Christ is what The Truth is all about. The duo gave their life to religion of Christianity. The Truth duo feels as if they have something to prove to God first rather than to their listening audience.
Despite their drive of passion, the group simply had no talent. Their lyrics were wack. Christian rap is nothing new. Enough people cashed in on that subgenre now. If the duo ran with a different name such as Max N Zeke or something else, the duo probably would have seen leeway for more success. It was due to lack of knowledge in the music business that The Truth did not succeed. Hey. The truth hurts.
I rate this album, The Truth Hurts, 2/5**.
