Beehive Elementary School was originally built as a township school in 1917 by Cleveland architects, Fulton and Taylor. The name stems from a local farmer who harvested honey. An addition was built onto the school by Cleveland architects, Fulton and Taylor (1913-1934) in 1931.
Beehive Elementary School closed sometime during the 1980s. The school was converted by Mike White and Geo Forbes into Beehive Elementary School Classroom Apartments which was geared towards senior citizens as a retirement home. April 05, 1984 was the date that Beehive Elementary School was placed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Beehive Elementary School is the only surviving school building of its kind out of 166 buildings operated by the Cleveland Board of Education.
