History of Lone Ives School forgotten.

Lone Ives School is one of the many forgotten schools of Travis County and Austin. Only so much information is known about this small school. This news article will explain the history behind Lone Ives School. In fact, Lone Ives School is one of the many forgotten schools of Texas.

Lone Ives School was built in 1859 as a log cabin which served as a one-room schoolhouse for many years. Supplies to build the school were hauled in using animals from livestock. The school held a livestock supply and a garden that students would tend to. Love Ives School was the first school (first public school) in Travis County next to Pleasant Hill School (now modern day Pleasant Hill Elementary School), Austin Graded School, and Eanes School.

What was once a one-room schoolhouse was later rebuilt into a two-room schoolhouse. By the 20th century is when Lone Ives School was a two-room schoolhouse.

In 1901, both Hudson Bend School, Lone Ives School, and Hurst Creek School were consolidated into Teck School via Teck Common School District. Hudson Bend School and Hurst Creek School consolidated into each other with Lone Ives School finally consolidating in 1902. By 1903, Lone Ives School would stop appearing on county road maps.

It is unknown if the Lone Ives School building was sold off to a private homeowner or was demolished. The school no longer exists. Lone Ives School was located on Hudson Bend in Austin, Texas near the Colorado River.
