History of Woodson Elementary School in Inkster, Michigan explored.

Woodson Elementary School (Woodson School) was operated by Inkster Public Schools from 1951 to 2012.

Woodson Elementary School was constructed in 1950 and opened in 1951. Its building is a single story tall on 9 acres of land as many of the elementary schools operated by Inkster Public Schools were. Many of the elementary schools operated by Inkster Public Schools were at least single story tall. Woodson Elementary School (Woodson School) was one of the many elementary schools that were constructed in the 1950s.

Woodson Elementary School closed in 2012 when Baylor-Woodson Elementary School was rebuilt and reestablished. This school was closed down due to the Inkster Public Schools budget deficit. Woodson Elementary School merged into Baylor-Woodson Elementary School during the same year when Burger Baylor School for Students with Autism was established.

An outreach program called Equipped For Life rented the building from Inkster Public Schools on a lease for about a year in 2013.

The school was sold for a price of $15,000 dollars in 2014 as multi-purpose building. However the building soon fell into disrepair over the years. Woodson Elementary School has been closed for years and in states of disrepair. The Woodson Elementary School building will need asbestos removal before demolition.

Today Woodson Elementary School is now abandoned. The property has overgrown vegetation which covers the grounds. Illegal dumping has been occurring on the property since 2014. Windows are boarded up. Only furniture remains inside that has yet to be retrieved or hauled off. The site has since become a storage ground for unused furniture and related equipment.
