Daniel D. Riney Hall in River Rouge, Michigan is facing demolition.

Today as 2018, the Daniel D. Riney Hall now lays dilapidated and in ruins. There are several huge gaping holes in the roof that can be seen from aerial view. More than 25% of its roof is missing. So far nothing has been done to repair these holes. However the city of River Rouge is looking redevelopment opportunities for the property.

Demolition of Riney Hall and the former ice arena is a future project that is in the works. The demolition of Riney Hall and the former ice arena will cost about $500,000. Daniel D. Riney Hall was once the former River Rouge Arena which was a former ice arena where hockey games were played. Both Daniel D. Riney Hall and River Rouge Arena are/were owned by the city of River Rouge. Interestingly enough, the site is currently apart of the R-1 zone which permits primarily single-family homes and crosses 3 parcel boundaries.

Daniel D. Riney Hall is located at 141 East Great Lakes Street, River Rouge, Michigan, US 48218.

  1. I saw the demolition start today 7/29/2021. They broke through the stain glass window to get bulldozers in and they started filling up large metal dumpsters with the inside debris. Wonder what the plan is
