There are still more than 200 fires burning in Australia. Officials call this a "mega-fire”. This “mega-fire” is the worst natural disaster in Australian history. Much worse than any natural wildfires than ever before. At least 20 people have been killed by this fire and 2,000 homes have perished into flames. Those are just the people we know about from the body count that has been confirmed.
The Australian state of New South Wales has been hit the worst by this natural wildfire. New South Wales has been hit the hardest and is the most severely affected by this “mega-fire”. Winds continue to push the fire towards New South Wales. The coastline of New South Wales seems to be affected the worst by the wildfire moreso than inland New South Wales. 10 million hectares (15.6 million acres) of forest have perished into flames from this wildfire. 130 fires were burning in the Australian state of New South Wales on the date of January 9, 2020. 50 uncontained fires have burned many national parks. If the wildfire continues, inland New South Wales will be severely affected and more tragedies will occur in Australia. That is why this environmental issue needs to remedied and taken seriously.
The Australian state of Victoria has been affected the worst by this “mega-fire”. 1.2 million hectares of land have perished into flames. Wind continues to push the fire towards Victoria while firefighters continue to put out the wildfires. There are currently 20 fires burning in Victoria.
Victoria ranks 2nd in terms of being affected by these wildfires while New South Wales ranks 1st. Other areas in Australia such as New South Wales, Victoria, Blue Mountains, and Bairnsdale have been affected in similar ways. Dry conditions are to blame for these wildfires burning Australia.
