Say G&E! is an album by the hip hop duo The Grouch & Eligh. Eligh produced 4/5ths of the songs on this album. This album gives hip hop/rap a breath of fresh air which is what the game has been missing in. No auto tune or shitty trap beats. Straight up lyrics with real meaning and substance. Plus the raps fit with each other. Each song on this album ends with a positive message.
Say G&E! is the The Grouch & Eligh anthem. Grouch and Eligh got the power! And it don't stop and it won't stop. Wilt nor sour. G’s for the good E for elevation which they will touch the world with.
The Grouch & Eligh know what’s up as they were once blue collar workers themselves. Being in the blue collar work world is not an easy task or a piece of cake. These lyrics below explain the struggle of blue collar life and the blue collar work world.:
But it started blue collar like Basik and Reece
BART to Embarcadero
We couldn't sell a beat
I couldn't sell a verse at first that was weak
We used to speak on telephones tried to work for the man
Might a called your home, to slang you a scam
But that was short lived
Grouch and Eligh used to work as telemarketers. That was their blue collar job. They would call random people to have them buy into the company’s scam in order to make sales. That job was short lived. Telemarketing was a job that they did not enjoy.
Eligh wrote Verse Two from a young man's perspective as Los Angelino. His verses use eclectic penmanship to centerfold. His raps are pieces of an abstract collective of rhymes and rhythms of what he thinks is key note combined with his incentive. His drive and his protective vibe not to let shit die.
Denial is about not being able to accept the truth. Not being able to accept the reality of your problems. Eligh talks about overcoming his drug addiction in his verse of the song as well.
Living in denial will have you stressing in your sleep. It's been like this awhile. You ain't what you used to be. There is no one no where that could tell that things aren't what they seem because in your mind this is how things are supposed to be. You keep on denying everything.
You made a conscious decision to believe this is how things should be. All those smiles yours are a cover up to hide the real emotions. You dodge peoples calls. What's the problem? You say, “Nothing at all."Denial is some of the saddest shit that you will ever witness. Denial is watching someone fall.
There are many forms of denial. Denial can be declaring something to be untrue. Denial is the of anything requested, wanted, needed, cherished, or desired. In this case denial is refusal accept the truth or emotion or admit that into consciousness. In many cases denial is used as a defense mechanism by people. Emotions come into play when this happens.
Eligh talks about overcoming his drug addiction in a positive manner in his verse. He could have been the one who overdosed in an alleyway with no friends and no family. But instead he got his act together and got clean. Positive decision making and motivation is the way to get clean off of drugs and overcome drug addiction. Drug addiction is a cold game.
Here is how he overcame drug addiction in a positive manner.: Eligh soon realized he was headed down the wrong path in life. Opiates got a hold of his brain. He already overdosed on opiates once. It was then that he decided to change his life. That was his wake up call. He severed ties with all his old friends that were a bad influence on him and made new friends that were a positive influence instead. He made amends with old friends and made new friends. His life was so insane but now he can't complain because he is now living clean. His life changed for the better.
Teach Me The Way is a song which teaches us to be always searching for something higher but don’t blindly follow. Don’t be a follower. Don't think a man or a woman can learn everything on their own. Age does not matter when it comes to this situation. The song gets deep and spiritual.
These are parts of where the song get spiritual and deep. Eligh prays during his verse.
Eligh:
How do I take that route?
I put my knees at the base of the couch
I ask for God to take account
Then everything else just falls in place
Thats not the case I got to work
Put it in, willingness is the key to freedom
Principalities surge when I’m not operating on urge
Put that ego in check, then take a sec to recollect on wealth
Not able to meditate quite yet
But sent to set it straight since birth now
Naturally when I'm born with the thought
That we're better than the next man
Getting caught in a savage land
Then taught to fish for the big dream in a sick stream
The Grouch:
What's spiritual? man I'm spiritual
Who's really talkin and who's hearin who now?
Were walkin on sacred grounds
All knowing God He ain't breaking us down
Because He's seen it before and knows I mean to be pure
He sent me what's empty to tempt me and sure
I fell for it first then you showed me the way
My teacher my guru fellow yogi my homie
Eligh and The Grouch here to show you the way to spiritual guidance. Search but don't worship. You're sure to feel the energy within.
Push On (Push Up) sounds very much similar to an Outkast song due to the way they rap, their finesse, and their accents. They speak with a real Southern drawl. If you got a taste for good music, this song is perfect for you. No questions asked.
I Know You Wanna Feel teaches us that we are all vulnerable and all need help at some point. It doesn’t matter who you are. Don't think a man or a woman can learn everything on their own. Age does not matter when it comes to this situation. The moral to this is everybody needs a little help in the end.
I rate this album 5/5*****!!
