Not much history of the Culebra Road Stage Stop has been preserved. Only long residents and historians of San Antonio, Texas know about this lost piece of history. This news article will explain the history of Culebra Road Stage Stop.
Culebra Road Stage Stop was built in 1850 as a single limestone structure which served as a stage coach stop on Culebra Road miles away from San Antonio-Castroville Road. Culebra Road Stage Stop was located on a terrace on the north side of Culebra Creek less than 0.3 miles of Culebra Road. 1865 was the year Culebra Road Stage Stop was refurbished and renovated. Most of this stage coach stop was rebuilt. An outbuilding was located near this stage coach stop. (Ref: https://farmandranch.omeka.net/exhibits/show/culebrardstagestop)
Soon enough after stage coach stops became defunct and were no longer needed, Culebra Road Stage Stop fell into disrepair and was abandoned.
Unfortunately the Culebra Road Stage Stop fell victim to real estate development. Here is what happened. The Culebra Road Stage Stop had been destroyed by residential development in 2005 as urban sprawl was growing towards that area of Bexar County and San Antonio.
