History behind Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory in Flint, Michigan explored.

Brady Preston was a commission merchant who owned a box factory and mill called Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory which operated for many decades. Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory was constructed and established as a box factory and mill in 1872.

Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory was located at 902-906 Woodbridge Avenue (now 906 Woodbridge Avenue) for an undetermined amount of years. Brady C J & Co was primarily a box factory before becoming a primarily a planning mill. (Ref: https://archive.org/details/michiganstatega00cogoog/page/n225/mode/2up)

Brady Preston, Charles J Brady, and John Fournier were the owners of Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory. John Fournier served as co-owner of Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory for more than 20 years. There were at least 3 different structures which once served as Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory that were separated into 3 different land parcels of real property. The large white brick building at 902 Woodbridge Avenue became a separate land parcel of real property sometime in the 20th century.

When Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory shut down and dissolved, the structure(s) were separated into 3 different land parcels of real property. The large white brick building at 902 Woodbridge Avenue was transferred to a storage company. The brown brick building structure at 906 Woodbridge Avenue served as an A&P grocery store from 1930 to 1936. The structure began serving as storage space in 1938. The brown brick building at 906 Woodbridge Avenue was renovated and converted into a union hall called Woodbridge Union Hallwhen Brady C J & Co Planing Mill and Box Factory shut down and dissolved.

Woodbridge Union Hall was opened and designed as a union hall sometime in the 1960s. Woodbridge Union Hall has been operated as a union hall since the 1960’s. The structure serving as Woodbridge Union Hall was converted into a ''rental hall'' due to the structure(s) being in good condition. So Woodbridge Union Hall has simultaneously operated as a union hall and  ''rental hall'' at the same time at one point. Woodbridge Union Hall was established as a union hall for dances and for hardcore punk rock concerts sometime during the 1980s. Hardcore punk rock concerts were often held at Woodbridge Union Hall. (Ref: http://theflintproject.blogspot.com/2012/01/flint-hardcore-c-1985.html)

The structure serving as Woodbridge Union Hall was converted into a ''rental hall'' due to the structure(s) being in good condition some before 1999. Now the large rectangular building has always been used as storage as the entry for 906 Woodbridge Avenue on homefacts indicates. That is because the property was zoned for warehouse storage. According to some data from the resident history of 906 Woodbridge Avenue listed on homemetry.com, Woodbridge Union Hall was once home to a nonclassifiable establishment called Pot Smokers of America. (Ref: https://homemetry.com/ng/house/906+WOODBRIDGE+ST,+Flint+MI/Resident-History)

According to www.dandb.com, Pot Smokers of America was Founded and established in 2010 by Tom Ehlears. Their phone number was 810-820-7039. (Ref: https://www.dandb.com/businessdirectory/potsmokersofamerica-flint-mi-30232607.html)

However bizstanding.com has reported the status of this nonclassifiable establishment called Pot Smokers of America as being inactive. Tom Ehlears (Thomas Ehlears) was the principal member of Pot Smokers of America. (Ref: https://bizstanding.com/p/pot+smokers+of+america-17195095)

This makes sense because principal member and founder Tom Ehlears had passed away in the year 2012. Of course this what led to the decline and abrupt closure of Pot Smokers of America. That is why Pot Smokers of America dissolved. (Ref: https://obits.mlive.com/us/obituaries/flint/name/thomas-ehlears-obituary?n=thomas-ehlears&pid=156707256)

Genesee County Land Bank and D Paxton acquired the land from Thomas Ehlears after he passed way in the year 2013. D Paxton acquired a portion of the Woodbridge Union Hall property in 2013.

Genesee County Land Bank currently owns the Woodbridge Union Hall along with Henry R. Campbell, Jr and D Paxton. D Paxton owns a small portion of the Woodbridge Union Hall property.
