Daniel D. Riney Hall now demolished.

The Daniel D. Riney Hall has been now demolished. A new ice area will be built on what was a former ice arena and gymnasium. The city of River Rouge, Michigan is looking redevelopment opportunities for the property. It is unknown what the plan is for the future. The demolition of Riney Hall and the former ice arena costed about $500,000.

Daniel D. Riney Hall was once the former River Rouge Arena which was a former ice arena where hockey games were played. Both Daniel D. Riney Hall, Veteran’s Memorial Ice Rink, and River Rouge Arena are/were owned by the city of River Rouge. Interestingly enough, the site is currently apart of the R-1 zone which permits primarily single-family homes and crosses 3 parcel boundaries.

As for the batting cages… The batting cages belong to Great Lakes Field and Daniel D. Riney Hall. The City of River Rouge has constructed new buildings and batting cages Great Lakes Field for as part of their revitalization plan. Baseball games will resume as usual.

History of Brewer W. Key School in Galveston, Texas explained.

Brewer W. Key School was one of Galveston’s many schools erected during the 20th century. This news article will explain what Brewer W. Key School was.

Brewer W. Key School was named after lumber builder and educator Brewer W. Key. The school erected on Avenue I & 30th Street was named the Brewer W. Key School in his memory. Through this means, the city has been enabled to acquire and provide playgrounds for the children, and to expand the school system in accordance with the most approved methods (Ref: https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~cousinsearching/genealogy/key.html)

"There is no finer thing to say of a man than to say that the children of a city cherish his memory and call him their friend. Such an honor must be earned for the youthful mind has a clarity of vision, unembarrassed by any considerations of expediency. It is rare that an individual attains such distinction, one that has been given Brewer W. Key. Through his generosity it has been possible to provide adequate space for playgrounds in connection with the city schools, adding immeasurably to the well being of the children and affording means of recreation which circumstances had denied in former years."

"In his will, he directed that his entire estate, other than a few small legacies, be given to the city of Galveston for the use of the children of the city, in public school work. The new school erected on 31st Street was named the Brewer W. Key School in his memory. Through this means, the city has been enabled to acquire and provide playgrounds for the children, and to expand the school system in accordance with the most approved methods."

Brewer W. Key School was erected and opened in 1883 as an elementary school. Brewer W. Key School was originally known as the as Avenue L Street School on Avenue L & 31st Street which was actually at Avenue I & 30th Street and Avenue H & 30th Street. The school was already open and fully functioning by 1891. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/30182015/)

However some news articles from the Galveston Daily News referred to Brewer W. Key School as the Avenue L Street School even though the school was never located on Avenue L but was actually located at Avenue I & 30th Street and Avenue H & 30th Street. Some say the school was located on 31st Street too. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/16846664/)

The original building of Brewer W. Key School was subsequently demolished around 1922. A new building plant for Brewer W. Key School was erected in early 1924. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/30141338/)

Avenue L Street School was later renamed to the Goliad School on Avenue I & 30th Street and Avenue H & 30th Street around the beginning of the 20th century. The name of this school was changed to Brewer W. Key School in 1924. However the Brewer W. Key School was still known as and referred to as Goliad School in 1924.  (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/95444447/)

“In discussing the suggestion presented by Mr. Singer that the new Goliad School be named the Brewer W. Key School after the late Mr. Key. all members .of the board concurred, expressing the regret that the idea was not promulgated by a board member and declaring that it was an oversight”

“The first meeting of the scholastic year of the Parent-Teacher Association of the Brewer Key School, formerly known as the Goliad School, will be held in the school auditorium Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mrs. John L. Sterling, president of the association, hopes that as many of the parents and teachers as possibly can do so will attend the meeting.”

C. E. Lucas was appointed to the position of teacher of shopwork at the Brewer W. Key School in Galveston , beginning the second semester in 1926. Mr. Finley and Ethel Clifford served as principals of this school. (Ref: https://books.google.com/books?id=P0EyAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA7-PA54-IA12)

Galveston Daily News reported that Brewer W. Key School was regarded as one of Galveston’s modern schools in 1930. Galveston Daily News called Brewer W. Key School “the beautiful Brewer W. Key School”. The building serving as Brewer W. Key School was the most modern building of schools operated by Galveston Public Schools (now Galveston ISD). James M. Fendley served as principal of Brewer W. Key School for 57 years from 1883 to 1940 as reported by the Galveston Daily News. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/19974285/)

Looking back 50 years ago

Oct. 29, 1940 - High tribute was paid to James M. Fendley, former principal of Goliad (Brewer W. Key) School, whose record of 57 years of continuous service in one school and at one location is said not to have been equaled anywhere, at a reception held last night at the school, which was attended by hundreds of pupils and former pupils of the veteran educator. The occasion offered the opportunity for presentation of a painted portrait of Mr. Fendley, the work of Elias B. Harris, Galveston artist, which was presented to Goliad School in appreciation of the life service of Mr. Fendley. Students, former students and teachers made the gift possible. Sharing honors with Mr. Fendley was Mrs. Fendley Rev. H..I. Robinson, pastor of First Methodist Church, gave the invocation. Mrs. Bleecker L. Morse opened the meeting and introduced Supt. of School S.B. Graham.

Brewer W. Key School later served as the all-black Central High School from 1958 to 1970 until court-ordered desegregation required all public schools to be racially integrated. Portions of this school served as other schools over time. Elementary and middle school students were attending both attending this school at one point.

1970 was a year that brought significant changes to the school. Brewer W. Key School was renamed to Goliad School again in 1970 and had served as an elementary school from 1970 to 1978.

According to Galveston Daily News, Goliad School was to become Morgan Elementary School in 1978. The school was still operating as Goliad School in April 1978. (Ref: Galveston Daily News, Monday, April 17, 1978)

However this did not happen because Goliad School (Brewer W. Key School) was closed in May 1978 along with George Carver Elementary School and Lovenberg Junior High School by Galveston ISD. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/17328450)

“The school was finally closed in May 1978 along with Goliad (Brewer W. Key), George Carver elementary and Lovenberg Junior High schools. Since that time it has remained abandoned and subject to numerous incidents of vandalism. Present demolition work is being conducted by R&N Contractors which has set a completion date of Aug. 1. Future plans for the site have not formally been announced.”

“Many of the original schools were constructed through the generosity of pioneer Galvestonians, including Henry Rosenberg, George Ball, Isidore Lovenberg, Brewer W. Key and Robert and Mamie Weis. Those original schools are gone now, but their memory lingers in the minds of older Galvestonians, black, white and Hispanic, who obtained their basic educational skills there. Unfortunately, Galveston schools operated for many years under the cloud of segregation. But during those years, local trustees did have the foresight to construct elementary and secondary schools for its black school children. Not many Texas communities could claim such an honor. We salute the Galveston Independent School District for maintaining its standard of quality education for all Galvestonians.”

The school became a middle school which would be known as Central Middle School in 1980. Today the former Brewer W. Key School now serves as a middle school called Central Media Arts Academy which is operated by Galveston ISD.

Brewer W. Key School was located at 3115 Avenue H, Galveston, Texas, US 77550 which is now 3014 Sealy Avenue, Galveston, Texas, US 77550.  That was the original address for Brewer W. Key School.

Rukus - Homegrown is a fresh Afrocentric hip hop album with a blend of world music. The album is totally different from any typical Southern rap album as hip hop/rap meets world music on this album. Rukus uses a smooth flow and witty lyrics with his raps. The lyrics to his songs grab you by the ears and infiltrate your emotions like Tank due to his tasteful and meaningful lyrics. This MC reps Nigeria and the San Antonio to the fullest. You will not want to miss out on listening to this incredible lyricist.

I Pimp is a toast to all pimps out there. I Pimp is one of those braggadocious tracks on the album similar to his song I'm The Best from his 2008 album Can’t Forget. He lets everyone know how and why he is the best.

Rukus proposes a toast to the pimps out there. Nobody is better than Rukus. Yea he said it! He’s half gorilla pimp. So he walks four-legged. He is ready to blow like the weed in your hand. Don’t jump into the cypher when he is beating you. He doesn’t need a label. Rukus rocks the world as if he had the globe in a cradle.

He comes with that 210 flow. His 210 has got you messed up lying in the dirt. Rims got you choked up. It ain’t about the flashy materialistic things.

Rukus pays homage, tribute, and respect to the Motherland of Africa on the song African Queen (Remix). He reps the green and white (Nigeria) throughout the song. African Queen (Remix) mirrors life realistically in many countries located on the continent of Africa. Rukus also pays homage, tribute, and respect to his country of Nigeria.

Known as the king of the remix, Rukus always adds that extra special element to tracks. The song has a vibe of high energy and happiness. The hit single “African Queen (Remix)” received airplay in the US, UK, Nigeria, and Ghana. His touching rap remix to TuFace's "African Queen" garnered attention from the United Nations. The song was chosen as part of a compilation album with proceeds to aid in the fight against poverty.

He smiles when touches the land of Nigeria and the continent of Africa. Rukus is in love with the African culture despite the crime, poverty, and corruption.

The song Ride With Me is a mid tempo paced Afrocentric rap song with a small touch of acoustics. The song has a vibe of high energy and happiness. Yet oddly enough there is a lack of instrumentalness and reverb. The song Ride With Me has a tempo of 100 BPM and is played in the G Major key (9B Camelot).

I rate this album 5/5*****!

The release of Mentalinstrum - After Hours is one of the lesser known garage house singles/EP from NYC that definitely flew under the radar. Now what stands out about this slightly unique garage house EP is that this garage house EP is romance based which is there are so many romantic themes based on love with songs such as Leave Me, Ah! I'm Coming, Love Changes, and Dance With Me.

Ah! I'm Coming an intoxicating garage house romance song with such repetitive vocals which get annoying after a while. Nothing special here. Only fans of garage house will enjoy and understand the song.

Dance With Me uses a mixture of Salsa dance mixed with that NYC styled garage house sound and plenty of bass many fans of electronic music enjoy. The song serves as an example of some of the great stuff produced by Smack Productions.

Leave Me uses a bunch of warped pads, chords, and angelic synths. This song uses more dance oriented synths and dance beats instead of solely relying on electronic music. You will love those slamming sounds!

Love Changes is aromatics garage house masterpiece produced by Eddie Perez himself. Eddie Perez is the master of garage house. Mentalinstrum/Smack Productions had their signature sound back in the 90s. It is rare for producers to have their "own" signature sound these days as music these days sound the same. Love Changes will make you love house music and especially garage house. The beats are absolutely sick!

I rate this EP 4/5****!

Deus-Ex-Machina - Threat Of Aggression is a highlight of some of the best old school techno from 1992. The single had techno stompers such as Threat Of Aggression and Rage. This is pure rave techno here. The single charted all the way to #1 on Chicago Techno Charts and #5 in Miami, which had a much smaller techno scene, back in 1992. As expected this single was popular in the underground techno scene during that time. Deus-Ex-Machina was a side project affiliated with the synth-pop/new wave band London Exchange. Sadly their side project never took off and their single went unnoticed by the masses which is a shame because their single charted in the single digits underground.

Threat Of Aggression was a techno stomper from back in the day many techno fans and electronic fans remember. Threat Of Aggression charted all the way to #1 on Chicago Techno Charts and #5 in Miami, which had a much smaller techno scene, back in 1992. Many techno fans remember the vocal samples that were used in this song. This song was popular in the underground techno scene. Vocal samples in this stomper were used from 1951 film The Day the Earth Stood Still which is where those vocals come from.

The song starts off with the vocal sample saying, “And the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated.” over sirens and distorted clash cymbals. A hodgepodge of quirky ethereal electronic synths are used throughout the song.

Threat Of Aggression (Sonic Rave Mix) is much more distorted then the 7" Original Mix of Threat Of Aggression. This version uses more techno oriented beats and techno based pads at a tempo of 129 BPM. This is pure rave techno here. John Phipps kills it with those chords.

Threat Of Aggression (Klaatu Klub Mix) experiments with the sounds of industrial techno at a tempo of 129 BPM. This version is different from the original as this version uses a repeated looped vocal sample which goes as “the threat of aggression” several times throughout the song. This version is not as well known as the 7" Original Mix and the Sonic Rave Mix but is just as popular.

Rage a great old school techno tune which is electronic pads, electronic synths, and chords. John Phipps kills it with those chords. Rage uses a tempo of 129 BPM in similar fashion and format to Threat Of Aggression (Sonic Rave Mix) and Threat Of Aggression (Klaatu Klub Mix). Although there are not as many of those vocal stabs as was the case with Threat Of Aggression. Nevertheless Rage is just as good of an old school techno tune as Threat Of Aggression is.

I rate this single 5/5*****!!

Hustletron ‎– Other Sounds, Other Worlds EP is another one of the lesser know New Breed releases that is considerably obscure and difficult to find. The obscurity and rarity of this New Breed vinyl EP is what makes the EP so interesting and appealing. Of course the Hustletron ‎– Other Sounds, Other Worlds EP is just as obscure and rare as the Lunar Deep ‎– Games single is. This Hustletron release has some dope breakbeats over jazzy hip hop and electronic sounds. He also added in some elements of trip hop and funk to the mix. He also incorporated the sounds of soul music in this EP of his which is quite unusual.

Hustletron ‎– Other Sounds, Other Worlds EP was released as a vinyl single sometime in/around 1998. Now Hustletron ‎– Other Sounds, Other Worlds EP was released on vinyl only. There was no CD pressing for this release.

I rate this EP 5/5*****!

The single Various ‎– Mad Jazzy Flavors has some of the phattest most downtempo jazzy hip hop sounds with a tinge of trip hop. All three songs are worth the listen. Hip hop heads will not want to miss out on the opportunity to own this New Breed vinyl single. You can’t go wrong with vinyl singles from the New Breed Records label. Sounds from this single will automatically remind you of Golden Era hip hop. Gotta love that real hip hop shit!

ADL - Daddy is one of the phattest most definitely dope hip hop songs off this single! You definitely do not want to miss out on or skip this song. This is one hard hip hop track. Who knew Swedish hip hop could be this dope?

The girls call ADL “Daddy”. The girls call him daddy because he’s got it going on. His clothes get torn every time he rocks a show. He knows all the tactics. ADL has the phattest kick known to mankind. He puts up a fight like a knight in Cesar’s palace. Everything he does is totally taboo. He’s a smooth daddy.

ADL plays the cards with an open hand. So don’t try to deceive him. He can get the skins. So don’t worry or be afraid. You’re getting what you came for. ADL will leave you all shook up like Elvis. Momma’s little boy was a dirty little devil. Too many pornography flicks took his ass to another level. Everything he does is totally taboo. He’s a smooth daddy.

Falcon - Oh My God is one raw jazzy hip hop instrumental. Word cannot describe how good this song really is. Jazz Not Jazz - Move Y'All is another one of those raw jazzy hip hop instrumentals. Elements of bebop jazz are added to the song.

I rate this single 5/5*****!!

The limited edition DJ BMF ‎– Bringin' Mad Flava EP has some of best classic New York styled breakbeats and scratches with a style that is a mix of hip-hop, soul, & jazzy beats. DJ BMF ‎– Bringin' Mad Flava EP was one of the best New Breed releases from 1996.

Like This Y'All (Hi-Fi Remix) is one of DJ Smash’s best remixes and one of DJ BMF’s best remixes. The Hi-Fi Remix of Like This Y'All uses a tempo of 110 BPM while the original version of Like This Y'All uses a tempo of 100 BPM. Perfect on the dance floor. Like This Y'All (Hi-Fi Remix) is much better than Like This Y'All (Original Mix). Both Like This Y'All (Hi-Fi Remix) and Like This Y'All (Original Mix) compromise the A side of the EP.

The B Side of the EP has perfect instrumental songs for DJs who like sampling sounds, soulful vocals, and different beats. Keep Ya Guessin' and Nobody compromise the B side of the EP.

I rate this EP 4/5****!

Various ‎– Sounds Of The Urban Jungle is a unique New Breed release because this New Breed release was a tribal house single. New Breed hardly ever released any tribal house music because the label’s primary focus was on releasing jazz and hip hop records. Anyway this breathtaking tribal house single is worth the listen. The Sounds Of The Urban Jungle leave much to be desired. Wetribe - Hard On has a tribal groove over a heavenly strong Afrocentric rhythm. It is inane how this heavily slept on this song was back in the day. D-Grinders - Koka uses a barrage Afrocentric tribal beats and house sounds.

I rate this single 5/5*****!!

The Khromozomes ‎– Buttermilk Biscuits EP is a prestigious masterpieces of trip hop and jazz. The sound is similar to Nujabes and Five Deez. The EP has that dope jazzy and groovy mid-90's underground street sound. Not to mention vibe. Not surprising since this vinyl EP was released by the New Breed label. New Breed releases never fail to disappoint. The release is similar to  Khromozomes ‎– The Sugar Cuts.

The L is one of the prestigious masterpieces from producers The Khromozomes recorded during the mid-90’s. The beats and bass are jazzy of course.

I'm Straight is another one of the prestigious masterpieces recorded by The Khromozomes during the mid-90’s which unfortunately got overlooked and overshadowed. The song has a warm hazy vibe.

Orpheus has that dope laid back jazzy sound and vibe due to the upright bass and xylophones which are used. Orpheus has that Boom Bap feeling also. Fans of old school hip hop and rap will definitely enjoy listening to Orpheus.

I rate this EP 5/5*****!!

C-Swing - Urban Kinetics EP is a unique mellow downtempo hip hop EP filled with breaks and beats which is a perfect tool for DJs. Sadly this EP is quite difficult to find as this release was pressed up as a limited edition. So buy this EP if you can. British hip hop and R&B producer C-Swing composed a downtempo jazzy EP with some of that British hip hop flavor. Boom Bye Bye is a mid tempo jazzy hip hop song backed by a jazzy horn and heavy boom bap beats. The vibe is slow for a mid tempo jazzy hip hop song though. Angel is one of the more calming songs on the EP laced with an electronic trance sound.

I rate this EP 3/5***.

DJ Smash ‎– Presents The Party Platter EP was the taste tester and vinyl sampler of/for the full album of DJ Smash ‎– Presents The Party Platter which was released in 1995. DJ Smash ‎– The Party Platter EP is one of the most genuine release from legendary DJ Smash. His sound and style brings a breath of fresh air to music. His DJ and turntablist skills leave much to be desired. Hip hop meets acid jazz on this EP of his. He puts his own spin on this album by using and incorporating different styles of music.

Moodulator uses such a calm relaxing keyboard which fits in with the rhymes sounds and rhythm. This tune will have your head nodding. His puts his own spin on this quality music. The beats are super thick. Jazz meets hip hop on Moodulator.

DJ Smash puts down his own jazzy touches and composition over hip hop beats on the song Gettin' Dizzy. He also blended in an incorporation of trip hop to give the song a try vibe nonetheless. Those beats and jazzy sounds make the song memorable.

You can hear a drum kit over hip hop breakbeats on Say Ow. This is one of the more hip hop oriented cuts on the EP. DJ Smash seemed to have been influenced by the sounds of James Brown, Little Richard, and Simply Red which is why you hear random funk breaks all over the place on Say Ow. The guitar gives away the funk.

I rate this EP 5/5*****!!

The album Lil Za - Youngest Balla Of Them All was released in 2005 on BOC Records (BOC Entertainment) from Tyler, Texas, US. It’s a children’s music album filled with rap and pop. Pop rap meets children’s music with gritty Dirty South sound on top of a friendly vibe. Youngest Balla Of Them All was Lil Za’s sophomore debut.  Lil Za is the best in East Texas rap next to Lil Tec, Lil Twist, DJ Nasty, Pimp C, Bun B, DJ DMD, Boonie Locc, USC, 903, UGK, and Texas Playas among others.

Welcome Back reintroduces us to Lil Za again. It had been 2 years since his debut album No Pass No Play was released in 2003. No Pass No Play was Lil Za’s first album that was released on BOC Records (BOC Entertainment). Young Money signee Lil Twist was featured as well. The beginning samples John Sebastian - Welcome Back with an updated sound and production. The production is beautifully orchestrated. Lil Twist is Lil Za’s older brother and they were both signed to Nico Hernandez’s label BOC Records in the early 2000’s.

L*i*l*z*a is a Lil Za solo track. L*i*l*z*a explains the personality and persona behind Lil Za as both a regular citizen and pop artist. The track L*i*l*z*a is down south rap that speaks for itself.

Youngest Balla features Houston rap icon Lil Keke and Baton Rouge rap artist Lil Trill. Lil Za raps for the bulk of its duration for 2 minutes long. Lil Za is the youngest balla of them all and he says that with pride. Nico Hernandez produced and arranged the horn selection.

Lil Za covers Nelly - Juice in the track Jungle Juice. It is a pop rap freestyle. That is why Jungle Juice has a Midwest twang. The beats are absolutely nuts as the whole track is wild. Lil Za truly shines by himself in such a genuine fashion on Jungle Juice.

Twist & Za is a Lil Za and Lil Twist duo cut the two of them freestyle. Get Buck is a Lil Za freestyle. We Some Ballas is a Houston style influenced rap song.

Lil Twist and Lil Za cover Fat Joe - Lean Back on the track Lean Back. It’s another Lil Za and Lil Twist duo cut. However Lean Back is only 2½ minutes long though.

Round & Round Remix is a remix of Round & Round from the 2003 album No Pass No Play. This version and the original song were written in 2002. Lil Za wrote all of the lyrics by himself when he was 8 years old. Lil Za covers the children’s music song Wheels On The Bus. Round & Round was the first single for the No Pass No Play album that had a music video to promote the single and album.

Lil Za covers the song Wheels On The Bus with his own original lyrics. Take a look at the chorus and some verses.

The wheels on the Benz go round and round
The wheels on the Benz go round and round
And the car is stopped

It’s Lil Za, BOC
You know we puttin’ it down
We more entertaining than Bozo the Clown

Raindrops features Tum Tum & Fat B of DSR from Dallas, Texas. Children’s music meets Dirty South rap. Lil Za isn’t as vocal here as he is elsewhere across his sophomore album.

Lil Za has improved in his songwriting and lyrics since his debut album. Take look at these lyrics. His lyrics are awesome on this track.

I’m Lil Za, you won't believe I’m only 8
Playin’ PS2 in 2000 tre
No Pass No Play
Yes it's in stores
Watch so many screens like that's my chore
Screens on my floor, shoes Air Force ones
If it ain’t that, it's Air Jordans
Lil Za and DSR represent yo click
Youngest balla of them all so my pockets thick

I rate this album, Youngest Balla Of Them All, 5/5*****!!

The Underground Committee - Tight Revenue is a tight ass album with off da hook lyrics. This is rap music at a new level as each song uses a different style. True Down South rap fans will enjoy this album as these 11 solo artists united to record every song with a different style prepared with distinctive lyrics and unique styles of flowing.

The whole album was produced by Lower Than Underground Productions. DJ's Spanx and Apollo did a bulk of the production. Southern Kumphert produced some songs too.

Spanx designed the album’s artwork and cover for the record label. You can see the gold and diamond's details in both the retail version & degraded version. The jewelry details are what helped make this album stand out in a flashy sense of relevancy.

The album was a great success in the underground scene across San Antonio. The album sold successfully at clubs and carshows in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Around 12,000 flyers and posters of the album were distributed and passed out.

"Coming from the South Side of San Antonio" is more than a mere quote from another underground rap group, but is now some sort of chant that is faith fully recited by many in the streets of San Antonio. It is also were Last Hour Records was founded.

Bangin Trunks uses thin beats rather than usual barrage of thick heavy beats you are accustomed to hearing in Southern rap. Moving on UP is making moves in the games. There is no limit when you are moving on up. This is one hard ass song.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Mixerr Album Reviews #2,577

Shawty Pimp came real with it with his slick yet esoteric pimp raps on his 1995 Comin’ Real Wit It. He brings out the best in Memphis pimp rap on songs such as Kickin’ Pimpin’ and Play No Playa. While you got your average Memphis rap songs such as Gotta Make A Killin,  My 9 Glock, and One Mean Stain. Despite any shortcomings or flaws, Comin’ Real Wit It is certainly a Memphis classic which does not get the respect or recognition truly deserved.

Shawty Pimp and Reddog break us off something proper with their classic witty lyrics on Break You Off. Reddog picks up from where he left off on Break You Off. And can't nobody but the big boys dig this shit. You know what I'm saying? They’re gonna kick some pimpin' for you niggas out there. And for you pimpin' ass niggas out there.

Shawty Pimp raps the repetitive and catchy lyrics to the hook. Repetitive catchy hooks are common in Memphis rap songs.

[Hook]
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click
Loced out, pistol grip, loced out, pistol grip
Loced out, pistol grip, loced out, pistol grip
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click

Reddog is on the track, booming crack. He puts the gat to your back. Fuck you now with no love. Niggas is constantly catching slugs. He’s all loced out with the pistol grip in the trunk.

Reddog kicks off Verse 1 with some slick esoteric pimp rap. Read these lyrics here for instance.:

Claiming you the shit bitch, now you in the fucking clique
Trick did I give you permission to off the mouth with that fucking bullshit?
Down these bitches killing me, talking bout some twelve play
Pull my shit out on that bitch, fucking grind on this dick
You can be my private hoe and I can be your private teacher
Get your ass out there and make my ends, I come right back and meet you
Collect up all my shit 'cause a nigga known I pimp these hoes
Coming clean with the bow, chargin' hoe, that's how it go

Mane, Reddog don't give a fuck about these motherfucking hoes. He is too busy to be caring about them hoes as he is busting heads and breaking necks. He don’t have time to be putting them in check.

Why is Reddog so real? Because he is just so trill and is on some gangster shit. Nigga you better know the deal, 'cause a bitch will try to steal. That is just life in the prostitution game.

These lyrics use an esoteric punch where pronouns are used.

'Cause it really don't make me run 'cause I've had my fucking gun
In my pants, on my hand, raining bullets, feeling like Superman
Through the air, you never know, when them things might hit you, hoe
On the shit, as I click, feed a bitch really quick
Party too thick for you trick, nigga they breaking you off something, bitch

Reddog uses even more violent and esoteric lyrics in Verse 2. Read the words and lyrics to Verse 2 here for instance.:

Sipping up on some Alize, better get out my fucking face
Watch me rip out my shit, Tec-9 bitch to your dick
Chop you up like Jeffrey Dahmer, kill your ass just for fun
Just like my nigga Koopsta Knicca, lend me your fucking body no
Then I fucked 'em in they fucking car
Then you know I pull out my 98 Glock on that bullshit

Shawty Pimp uses his slick yet esoteric pimp raps on Kickin’ Pimpin’. That is what makes this song of his an undeniable classic yet an under-appreciated Memphis rap classic. Can't nobody but the big boys dig this shit. You know what I'm saying? They’re gonna kick some pimpin' for you niggas out there 'cause it ain't gonna never die. And for you pimpin' ass niggas out there.

Shawty Pimp is just smoking sacks and drinking yak with Mista K and Reddog. He is kickin' back like a man. Some niggas are all around their motherfucking hall. Killing when they get them bitches on that motherfucking track.

Riding in the Cutlass thing, sweating up on them bitches, mane. See you gotta understand that this is just a pimping game. Shawty Pimp gotta play the bill 'cause a real nigga is trill. Booming yay so you know a true ass nigga making bills. Best believe Shawty Pimp is nevеr falling short.

Niggas be getting into that gangster shit too much. So Shawty Pimp keeps it at a pimping level with his game and hustle. All while making cash everyday. Bitches on his dick. Why them niggas keep on talking shit? Laid back, kickin', straight up pimpin’.

One Mean Stain deals with being trapped in an endless cycle of poverty. Shawty Pimp is trapped. One Mean Stain relies heavily on the sample of Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine.

Shawty Pimp has a lot on his mind as he is trying think of what to do. Shawty Pimp is broke as a motherfucker. There ain't no money coming through. It's been like this for a couple of weeks. He has think of a plan before he kills the next man. With a Glock in hand, he’s a wild man caught up in this life of crime. Shawty Pimp is about to get this man. Shawty Pimp has been trailing his ass for fifteen minutes. He waits in the driveway. The driveway leads up to a big ass house in Germantown. He took his dope and money too 'cause that's what a pimp is supposed to do. He also took his wedding ring. A nigga known for everything.

Shawty Pimp is now out looking for more hoes to trick. So I pulled out his .44, rushed the door, and threw them down.

Play No Playa is quite a harmonic rhythmic gangsta rap/pimp rap song which samples Anita Baker - Whatever It Takes. You can’t play no playa. You busters better recognize.

Shawty Pimp and Reddog are in the middle of this dope game. Reddog's on the motherfucking set in the campaign. ‘Cause a nigga know it's you, automatic weapon fool. You might try to kill him in and assassination attempt but he ends up killing you instead. That is what the lyrics “You might try to kill me, in attempts I end up killing you” mean.

Bodies have been buried in the ground. You hoes that are talking shit can suck his dick. Shawty Pimp is cool and straight legit.

Shawty Pimp and Reddog explain how they execute their pimp game in these lyrics below.

Bеtter make my money hoе, if you know what's best for you
If you wanna keep your life, I suggest I keep on pimping you
Mane I'm getting richer from these hoes while my cash flow
Living like a, that's whatever you call it, I'm born it hoe

'Cause you know the shit I kick, pimping keeps my pockets thick
On you funky, shady bitches, having you hoes clock all my riches
Just because I dog on hoes, maybe even slap a hoe

Shawty Pimp just let us know that you cannot play a playa. He breaks down game to you lames and you busters. Beware as he is breaking wimps and breaking simps. To a player in the hood, cracking dollars in the street, stay clocking them dollars. Don’t weaponize a player when he's standing in your face, bitch. Him and Shawty Pimp making these hoes pay what they weigh. Living day by day. Sipping on that E & J.

I rate this album 4/5****!

Shawty Pimp - H. A. N. uses some simple beats which are the hardest beats you will have ever heard. The beats are quite dark and sparse. There is not too much distance or white noise between beats. The beats are simple overall. You don't need a big studio to make some raw shit like this. However there seems to be a timbre in his vocals as some of the audio is unbalanced. This album is dope despite the low quality production. In fact the low quality production what makes this album legendary and grimey.

I rate this album 4/5****.

Lo Key ‎– Test My Nutz one of the low quality gems of Memphis rap that is very much overlooked. This is one of the coldest cuts outta Memphis. That’s not surprising since Lo Key is Tommy Wright III’s cousin. M.B.D. did produce some of the beats and drum patterns. This album uses some of the some of the best drum patterns in Memphis rap. Lo Key uses triplets with natural progression over slower beats.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

39 Posse - 39 Automatic is Louisiana influenced gangsta rap album with those heavy hitting, speaker rattling beats and drums produced by DJ KLC. This entire album is laced with that funky old school hip hop sound and influence you would hear from New York City.

Clockin' is a funky Louisiana rap influenced freestyle song which sampled a beat from Special Ed - Ready 2 Attack. You can also hear the old school hip hop influence here as well. 39 Posse in full effect!

You can hear that Louisiana influence in Ask Them Hoes with the xylophones and cowbells. And of course the woofing. That is how you can tell DJ KLC stuck true to the Louisiana roots in this song. This song carries a nice bass line over ultra loud heavy hitting beats produced by DJ KLC. This song is so raw and gritty.

Got What It Takes To Make It uses a New Orleans styled Dixieland jazz horn sample in the background over heavy turntablism and ultra thick heavy beats produced by DJ KLC. Jazz meets hip hop rap on Got What It Takes To Make It. The original version of this song is and was better than remix. This version has some of that old school hip hop sound and flavor inside.

I rate this album 4/5****!

Michael Mixerr’s thoughts on the Happy Gilmore movie.

Happy Gilmore is one of those movies that makes you more retarded than you already are. The movie resorts to lowbrow slapstick comedy humor. Now we all know that slapstick humor is the oldest form of comedy in the book. That is nothing new particularly with his movies. Not surprising since Adam Sandler movies are known for their stupidity. Yet somehow Adam Sandler managed not to make his audiences cringe. Although one could consider this movie to be cringeworthy.

Adam Sandler playing the role of a character who is hot-tempered hockey player that can hit a golf ball 400 yards is plain absurd and unrealistic. Not to mention cringeworthy. But one can expect that nonetheless from Adam.

The production company used the same cast and crew from Adam Sandler’s other movies. For example, Ben Stiller appeared in the movie. Ben Stiller appeared as a borderline nemesis archetype/frenemy. David Spade from The Wrong Missy appeared in the movie. Heck even long time actor Rob Schneider appeared as a character in the movie although his role was the role of a minor character. Rob Schneider is well known for playing of role of minor characters in He’s appeared in several of Adams other movies over the years.

This is one of those 2/5** movies that you would find in a bargain bin at Walmart or some other store. In other words Happy Gilmore is a bargain bin movie. Honestly you should save your money by streaming this movie instead of purchasing this movie.

History of the Booker T Washington Elementary School aka Washington Annex in Galveston, Texas explained and exposed. One of Galveston’s lesser known schools.

The East District School and West District School reorganized in the 1930s. The school on the eastern end of town became known as Booker T. Washington Elementary School and was located at 27th and Avenue M. The West District School evolved into George W. Carver School along 35th Street and Avenue M 1/2. (Ref: http://rosenberg-library-museum.org/exhibits/past-gallery-exhibits/vftp/online-exhibit/)

Booker T. Washington Elementary School opened circa 1934 during the Great Depression. The building was a 2-story brick building with stucco floors and terrazzo tile. The building was known for its stunning solid rugged brick appearance.

Booker T. Washington Elementary School was the least affected Galveston ISD school affected by the 1943 storm. The amount of damage done to the school was $725.63 which was the lowest. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/23456264/)

“The report disclosed that every school building in the city was damaged to some extent by the storm. The damage at the Booker T. Washington School in the amount of $725.63 was the lowest. The damage at the Sam Houston School was the highest, totaling $8,198.77.”

Joe Palmer and Erwin Huttne did the plaster work on Booker T. Washington School. M. Reed was responsible for reconditioning the Booker T. Washington School. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/23450940/)

Booker T. Washington Elementary School later became Washington Annex. Washington Annex was the old building across Avenue M from Kermit Courville Stadium and at one time was a Central High School building annex. The school was the old Central High School annex.

The board also authorized establishment of a cafeteria in the Washington School Annex in 1961. The annex had no cafeteria prior to 1961. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/30144849/)

Remedial programs for problem students were housed in the Washington School Annex in 1972 as the Controlled Environment Studies Center. The Controlled Environment Studies Center funded almost entirely by federal funds. Galveston ISD approved a spending expenditure of up to $52,000 for improving facilities at the Washington Annex for the new center. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/23385910/)

The Controlled Environment Studies Center was primarily a detention center where high school and middle school students were assigned there for their three to five day suspension periods and for an indefinite period if expelled. The students were kept off the streets and the school district kept up its average daily attendance for state aid. The students brought assignments from their regular teachers and studied as in a study hall. The "Controlled Environment Center" became the "Guidance Center" in March 1972. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/22198303/)

[The Galveston school district last year opened a Controlled Environment Center, a novel experiment for the district to serve as a "last chance" for youngsters before being severed from the school district. The center, opened in an old church educational building at 19th and Avenue I and since moved to the Washington Annex on 27th Street, was primarily a detention center. High school and middle school students were assigned there for their three to five day suspension periods and for an indefinite period if expelled. The students were kept off the streets and the school district kept up its average daily attendance for state aid. The students brought assignments from their regular teachers and studied as In a study hall. The director was busy, mainly keeping order, but he counseled the youngsters as time permitted. Then, with the start of the new semester in January, with additional federal funds forthcoming at that time, the "Controlled Environment Center" became the "Guidance Center." "The school district expanded the center to provide additional instruction, guidance and counseling for these problem youngsters. Community resources are now being tapped to bring students into touch with the world beyond school and to give them help in finding a place in that world. Galveston College students, for example, are volunteering as tutors. (Other volunteer tutors would be welcomed.)

Local businessmen are serving as speakers and helping with field trips. Other speakers are used from the medical complex, local industries and various agencies. The idea of punishment was dropped in the transition from "Controlled Environment Center" to "Guidance Center," explains Dr. Hay Hassctt, assistant director for research and develop - mnt and in charge of the center while it remains an experimental program. Students assigned to the center still may call it "tin; rock" and refer to themselves as "lifers," but the staff concentrates on disgnosing the reasons for the students' asocial behavior. Every student entering the center is given aptitude and achievement tests. Mrs. Fran Holcomb. diagnostician, places this information in their permanent records for use by the center staff and by teachers and counselors at their regular schools. Students arc assigned to one of two classes, each with a maximum student load of 20 and each with a certified teacher. The teachers use materials of their respective courses and grade levels to keep them with their regular classes. There is much emphasis upon individual instruction and individual study because each student could be in a different course at a different level.

A library and resource center is being developed with materials for all levels. Included are reading labs and special equipment for individualized study. Classes arc held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the same as in regular schools. Students walk across the street to Washington Elementary School for lunch, A variety of problems has brought the youngsters to the center, and the staff places great importance upon the individualized approach to each student. For some students it's a matter of attitude. They may need encouragement or goals. Another must have poor study habits. He must learn to study. A most common problem is reading difficulty which has led to frustration and then boredom in the classroom and finally to disobedience. Other times physical impairments are discovered. In the case of youngsters with family problems, the younger brothers or sisters to care for or the lack of appropriate clothing to wear, two home - school coordinators are available to be a liason between home and school. Often these coordinators can point the way to social agencies which can help. Claud Bolton, resource specialist, said the community response has been quite gratifying in his first months of arranging for tutors, speakers, field trips, and such to augment the regular instruction.]

Washington Annex was the old building across Avenue M from Kermit Courville Stadium and at one time was a Central High School building annex. Galveston's Guidance Center School was located at Washington Annex. Galveston's new Guidance Center School moved into its new quarters at 39th Street and Avenue T in 1973. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/23870694/)

“Galveston's new Guidance Center School has moved into its new quarters. The school, a special counseling, testing and learning center for students referred from the middle schools and the high school for adjustment problems, was located in the old Washington Annex. The annex is the old building across Avenue M from Public School Stadium and at one time was a Central High School building. The new Guidance Center School building was recently completed next to the school Administration Building at 39th Street and Avenue T. The $250.000 facility was built with a loan against delinquent taxes. Lewis Lloyd Oliver was the architect and 3 - R Trust and Cecil Hart were the contractors. The one-story brick and metal building is planned to be used eventually as the school district's warehouse.”

“The center has been housed in the antiquated Washington Annex across the street from Public School Stadium. Started several years ago as a last stop for behavior problems before they were expelled from class, the center has evolved into a testing and rehabilitation center for students who for a number of reasons — be they behavioral, emotional or educational — have difficulty adjusting to their middle school or the high school environment. Students the center arc referred by their school principal for an indefinite time, until they arc deemed by center evaluators and their principals ready to return to regular classes. The district has arranged with the University of Texas Medical Branch to receive special psychological consultative services for the GISD special services division, which includes the center: The new center building, a project of approximately $225,000, was built with a student loan. The less severely handicapped attend classes with other students and receive special assistance from their resource teachers placed In the schools. The special education program was put into operation under the leadership of Joe Ellis, director of special education for a number of years.”

The former Booker T. Washington Elementary School was closed and demolished in the year of 1986. The school was considered obsolete and was no longer needed to educate the children of Galveston Island. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/13806136/)
